All right!

I am currently playing in Curse of the Crimson Throne and Reign of Winter.

I am currently running Council of Thieves, Serpent's Skull, Carrion Crown, and Wrath of the Righteous.

I have completed... none. Yet. Carrion Crown is in Book 6, though.

I will soon run Mummy's Mask, Iron Gods, and at least one other.

Dark Archive

Wow. That's a LOT of commitment and work at the same time! [tips hat]

I don't think I have have ever been in two APs at the same time, there may have been overlaps but no two concurrent campaigns. Not counting PFS.

On top of that, they're all same world (so far). ^_^

Player
Played in Curse of Crimson Throne. Was ok but group dynamic collapsed so we had to shelve the AP in book 2.

Played in Kingmaker got half way through but GM burnout caused us to take a break that eventually became permanent. :(

Played in Serpent skull got half way through before low opinion of AP combined with GM burnout killed the campaign.

Currently playing in Jade Regent level 6. Anticipate seeing this one all the way through.

GM

Carrion Crown all the way to completion.

Currently running Mummy Mask anticipate to completion.

on deck
When JR completes I plan to run Iron Gods

When I complete MM I will become a player in either Skull and Shackles or Hells rebels.

Thouhgts?

CotCT I bought the first installment to read and see what my GM was doing. This was a newer guy I was playing under and we didnt last long with him. He made all kinds of questionable changes and was just not great. That said id give CotCT a try as palyer or GM again.

Serpent skull had the best first installment. I really enjoyed it but the game got progressively worse after that. The GM had to add so much to make it enjoyable. I wouldnt run or play with the exception of book 1 again.

Jade Regent has been going well. Though my character recently died and is out of hero points and the group decided to loot the body instead of raise which im bitter about. Ill be making a new character but aside from all that its been fun so far.

Kingmaker was awesome I was having a ton of fun. GM flamed out on it though and didnt want to come back to it. Id play or run again.

Carrion crown was a lot of fun. My biggest complaint is that the AP isnt always consistent and required a lot of my input to work for me. Overall though strong thematically and enjoyable AP.

Mummy mask so far has been a blast. Not as interesting as CC but much more consistent. So far so good will be able to better discuss when complete.

Playing in Runelords book 6 - about to climb into the death zone.

Playing in Serpents Skull book 6- Should finish in 2 weeks or so.

Running Age of Worms -they just completed book 10.

Planning on running Wrath of the Righteous when done.

Will be starting Reign of Winter when Serpents Skull is finished.

Relatively new to Pathfinder (10 years off RPGs and only discovered pathfinder last December).

Currently GMing book 5 for Rise of the Runelords, anticipate completing.

Anticipate either Kingmaker or Skulls & Shackles next, possibly switching back and forth between them.

Read through of Curse of the Crimson Throne and Council of Thieves, but have a couple of younger players who would find the concepts a little challenging, maybe in a few years.

I have run but failed to complete Kingmaker and Rise of the Runelords - both games fell apart in Book 4 - as well as Council of Thieves (Book 2) and more PBPs than I care to count (they pretty much all ended before the end of Book 1).

I played in but failed to complete Reign of Winter.

I am playing Iron Gods (about to start Book 3).

I am running Wrath of the Righteous (closing in on the end of Book 1).

I am pretty optimistic about the groups and the adventures both that I'm in now. On the horizon are Hell's Rebels (to play) and Legendary Planet (to GM).

Completed: None

Stopped: Rise of the Runelords (GM) - Freezemaw ate the campaign.
Stalled: Second Darkness (player, completed book 2) - though it may be starting up again.
In progress: Curse of the Crimson Throne (player, middle of Book 5), Council of Thieves (GM, completed book 1)

baron arem heshvaun wrote:

The only one "ready to go" would be Legacy of Fire from the CotCT GM.

Completed: None

Currently running Jade Regent, starting book 5 in two weeks.

Planning on running Rise of the Runelords next.

GM to Completion: Curse of the Crimson Throne

Played to Completion: Rise of the Runelords (twice)

Currently Running: Way of the Wicked (starting book 6), Serpent's Skull

Currently Playing: Skulls & Shackles, Reign of Winter

Never Finished: Carrion Crown - GM (party went the evil route and after book 2 couldn't find a reason to continue) Wrath of the Righteous - Player (GM moved)

One the Slate: Giantslayer (Way of the Wicked Group), Way of the Wicked (Serpent's Skull group)

So far Way of the Wicked has been a blast to run and I really enjoyed Curse of the Crimson Throne as well.

Completed (in order, Paizo only, as a player): Age of Worms; Rise of the Runelords, Second Darkness, Legacy of Fire, Serpent's Skull, Jade Regent, Carrion Crown.

Most enjoyed as a player: Carrion Crown tied with Legacy of Fire.

Completed as GM: Savage Tide (3.5e), Curse of the Crimson Throne (PF Beta), Council of Thieves + Kingmaker mashup, Shattered Star (currently in Chapter 6).

Most enjoyed GMing: The CoT/KM mashup. Shattered Star I've enjoyed because of the numerous tie-ins and easter eggs into several preceding APs.

Not Gonna Happen: Mummy's Mask, Iron Gods.
Not Completed: Skull & Shackles (loss of interest by fellow players). Not an option as a GM for the current group.

On the Slate: Reign of Winter, Wrath of the Righteous, Giantslayer. No idea which of these will interest the current group.

Completed: Rise of the Runelords

In Progress: Curse of the Crimson Throne (Pathfinder Conversion, currently on book 2)

On the slate: Second Darkness, Legacy of Fire or Council of Thieves.

The way we run it is I give achievements out at the end of each book (nice little slips with a point value.) On book 4 my players do a vote for one of the next 3 APs, the person with the highest achievement point total gets two votes. When we're done whatever that is we will have those options -the one we did +Kingmaker. I tie in all character storylines with the previous adventure paths (In our Curse game, the father of one of the Runelords character is a party member and there are plans to tie in some of the choices that character made in.)

Our group played Kingmaker with three GMs - I ran Books 3, 5 and 6. That’s the only AP we’ve completed so far.

I was a player in Serpent’s Skull, and we finished Book 1 (we planned in advance to play only Book 1 at that time).

I was a player in Carrion Crown - we reached the beginning of Book 3 before the campaign was put on hold.

We’re currently playing Skull & Shackles and Jade Regent - at the moment, we play one campaign for about three months, then switch to the other.

I’m a player in Skull & Shackles (and so far I’ve managed to keep a campaign journal up to date). I believe we’re somewhere in Book 2.

I’m GMing a modified Jade Regent campaign and keeping a (lengthy, detailed) journal for it. We’re part of the way through Book 3.

The Exchange

DMd legacy of fire all the way through.

Played second darkness through.

Half way through Carrion Crown as DM

DM for Age of Worms all the way through.

Played in Savage Tides but finished before end of campaign. Lvl 16 or so

Currently running: Carrion Crown. Very close to the end of book 6.
Shelved: Curse of the Crimson Throne (after book 1)
Legacy of Fire (mothballed mid-book 2)

Played: Kingmaker (ended after book 3 bossfight TPK)

The APs I've completed as GM are but one:

Serpent's Skull - Players had a blast. Was a lot of work, but worth it in the end.

The APs I'm currently running as GM are two:

Kingmaker - This campaign will be closing on the completion of its third year at the end of the summer, and we should be finishing the campaign about that time as well. We just completed Book 5, and there are a few things to do before Book 6 can begin. Everyone has loved this AP. It's been an absolute success.

Rise of the Runelords - We gather to play this one about once every 4-8 weeks. It's the first AP we ever started in PF back in 2010, and we are at the very end of Book 5. Players have enjoyed it despite the rather hectic scheduling through the years.

The APs I'm currently playing in, but that are not finished are one:

Jade Regent - I've been thoroughly enjoying this one. I've enjoyed the Asian flavor thus far, and the group has been a great deal of fun. It helps that I am now an enlarged dwarven magus using the Hammer of Thunderbolts. Joy!

The APs I am getting ready to run as GM are two:

Shattered Star - My group and I love all things Thassilonian, pretty much from our experiences with Runelords. Thus, this is the campaign we will be starting when Kingmaker reaches its conclusion.

Carrion Crown - I also have a group that enjoys the old Gothic horror schtick, which makes this a no-brainer for them also. Will be looking to run this one after Jade Regent has concluded, probably about the beginning of next year.

Completed: Carrion Crown as first time GM Had a lot of fun and players still recall stories from it.

Started but did not complete: Rise of the Runelords as GM. Group fell apart.

On Hiatus and will resume: Curse of the Crimson Throne as player.

Currently GMing: Legacy of Fire, Mummy's Mask.

Currently Playing: Wrath of the Righteous.

Plan to GM next: Reign of Winter

Plan to play in future: Iron Gods, Giantslayer (likely more but those are on the plan list at least).

Lastly of those APs that you did complete which was the one you enjoyed the most and why.

GM: Rise of the Runelords (completed), Skull & Shackles (on hiatus @ book 3)

Player: Carrion Crown (completed), Shattered Star (group lost interest after book 2), Kingmaker (GM flaked before end of book 1), Reign of Winter (group dissolution in book 2), Curse of the Crimson Throne (GM fail - narrated books 4-6, PCs did nothing), Rise of the Runelords Anniversary edition (currently in book 3)

GM Planning: Curse of the Crimson Throne

Most Enjoyable: Not much to work with having only completed two, but I'd have to say I enjoyed Carrion Crown the most of the two. I had a truly memorable connection to my character and had a great experience with the AP (barring a fail instigated by a player who happened to also be the GM of the failed Kingmaker and Curse of the Crimson Throne campaigns).

I'd like to point out I absolutely love Curse of the Crimson Throne and was thrilled at the opportunity to play it. Needless to say I was furious at the atrocity foisted upon us by the GM, particularly the fact that he glossed over/narrated the last three books as he wanted to get to the end, but "didn't have the time to properly play it out." That's why I'm planning to properly run it with select members of that group, so they can experience it's majesty.

Dark Archive Vendor - Fantasiapelit Tampere

GM: Second Darkness, Council of Thieves, Skull & Shackles

Player: Rise of the Runelords, Curse of the Crimson Throne, Carrion Crown(cancelled mid-way), Jade Regent, Wrath of the Righteous (Currently playing)

AP in Planning: Serpent's Skull

Most Enjoyable: Now I have played many adventurers trough. For the record- I loved everyone I finished trough (Carrion Crown died out due scheduling conflicts and long periods of pauses). Well written and each had something great offer. But since I probably have to pick one.... let's see. Curse had awesome parts and great storyline and I loved my PC. Jade Regent was awesome journey with trio of great characters with each one completing each other perfectly. But I still have to choose Rise of the Runelords. It was the first AP I ever played, we had a ton of fun, our GM was on fire with characters and my two favorite moments in Pathfinder are in this AP- the ghouls in the fields and coming of Wendigo.

GM'd to completion: Legacy of Fire

Currently GMing: Iron Gods

Played Council of Thieves but lost during the 4th book and party was locked in stasis for 100 years. When we were let out it was...

Played first act of Slumbering Tsar.

Played first half of Kingmaker.

Played first 4 or 5 books of Savage Tide.

Played first book of Rise of the Runelords.

Currently playing Skull and Shackles

Jade Regent is on hiatus due to GM needing a break, hence Iron Gods.

dm kingmaker, all the way
played jade regent, serpent skull, skulls and shackles all the way through.
Currently book 5 of carrion crown and and will finish it as a player.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm currently playing in Kingmaker, but it's unclear if we'll finish. I think we're towards the middle of book 1, erring on the side of the beginning.

I am currently GMing Wrath of the Righteous and Skull and Shackles. We are at the beginning of book 2 in each.

Now for the embarrassing part...

I have started GMing and not finished:
Jade Regent x2
Skull and Shackles x2, both before starting my current game
Wrath of the Righteous also before my current game
Reign of Winter
Shattered Star
Kingmaker before current game, I was a player in the failed one too

Did not get past the first book in any of those. They fell apart for various reasons: individuals lost interest, I moved, life kept us from getting together. I've learned to better create and manage a play group since then. I am happy to report that all my current campaigns, except possibly Kingmaker, are stable and chugging along well.

As for my favorite, it's tough. I really like both the ones I'm running right now. Skull and Shackles is really fun and casual. I love making pirate voices. Also, the players and I are really enjoying all the pirate RP.

That said, Wrath of the Righteous is amazing. The mythic rules make is crazy fun. It's huge stakes all the way through. The players really feel like superheroes. I love the NPCs I'm getting to play with, who are incredibly well conceived. Not to mention the totally awesome representation with a trans woman in a relationship with a cis woman; and two guys, including one who is a

Character's Class:
Cleric of Shelyn,
in a relationship; and
Character Name:
Nurah Dendiwhar,
who I'm playing as asexual. The high powered demon butt kicking ties it all together, and you have my favorite AP so far.

Currently: Iron Gods- Who's awesomeness has pushed all others to the side :-)

Nothing else matters :-)

I ran Carrion Crown to completion which included Carrion Hill and the Moonscar. It was a lot of work but great fun. I was always a fan of Ravenloft and this AP got me into Parhfinder and a return to gaming in general.
I have not played in any Adventure Path, just some Society scenarios.
Rise of the Runelords is on deck after the current module cycle. (Running Wardens of the Reborn Forge followed by Emerald Spire). After RotR will be Iron Gods.

Liberty's Edge

None at the moment with Rise of Runelords stopping in book 3 with Yoda ate my head. But never really got into other AP because they atart at level 1.

Suzaku wrote:

That's a pretty easy fix in my experience, Suzaku.

I have been the GM for the following Pathfinder APs:

Rise of the Runelords
Kingmaker
Carrion Crown
Skull & Shackles
Shattered Star
Reign of Winter

We completed all but Carrion Crown.

As a GM, I lost all interest in Carrion Crown after book 1. As we began book 2, I had to apologize to my group and tap out of that AP.

My favorite AP to run has been Kingmaker, by far. I love the sandbox style game and I felt my players really connected with their characters (more than usual). It was a great experience, and I'd love to run it again. Runelords was my second favorite, and after reading the updated Anniversary Edition, I'd love to run that again too.

As far as what I am running now/next? I haven't been able to get interested in any of the Paizo APs since Reign of Winter. I am currently finishing Way of the Wicked, and then will be moving on to a Midgard campaign.

The Paizo APs feel too linear and Pg-13 for my (and my group's) taste.

Running: Jade Regent, Rise of the Runelords (as GM)

Abandoned: Kingmaker, Second Darkness (as player, officially "on hiatus" for 3+ years).

I completed Age of Worms and Kingmaker as a GM.

Did not complete Rise of the Runelords. Real life reared its ugly head. I fear it may not happen. Got all the way to the last fight. Losing motivation.

Carrion Crown

I have never completed anything as a player.

I have played:
Rise of the Runelords
Shackled City(got to the other plane)
AoW(PbP)
CotCT(got to book 3 or 4)
RoW
Iron Gods (playing now)
Legacy of Fire(PbP)
Council of Thieves(end of book 4)

Dark Archive

Completed as a GM:
Second Darkness
Curse of the Crimson Throne
Legacy of Fire
Rise of the Runelords

in that order.

Ran as a GM, Didn't Complete:
Kingmaker (Made it to the final book, but the group fell apart and everyone moved as college ended.)
Skull and Shackles (Tried running it as my first online-only AP with remnants of the same group. Circumstances (mostly my schedule at the time, but also other stuff) caused the weekly sessions to be cancelled for various reasons for a few months in a row, and my interest in running it just kind of died out during the lapse. Ended just a tiny bit into book 2.)

I've had some success with some other online campaigns since then (about to conclude a rather successful campaign of The Strange), so I'm likely going to get back into the swing of actively running things again soon. No specific plan yet, though, as I don't want to mentally move on from my The Strange campaign before that's actually done.

Edit: Just noticed the 'which of the ones you ran did you like the most?' bit. Curse of the Crimson Throne was by far the best of the bunch, but the group enjoyed all four of 'em. I'd place Kingmaker itself in the same quality bracket as Throne (though lower, and in the top bracket for different reasons); it was group-dynamic issues and college ending that ended it early, though, not the AP itself.

The best factors of Crimson Throne were the overall solidness of the adventures, the strong presence of the main villain, and the excellent NPCs (Laori Vaus being a particular favorite). Seven Days to the Grave remains my favorite overall adventure, and Skeletons of Scarwall stands as my favorite dungeon crawl (though some bits of Iron Gods look to potentially come close there from my readthrough of it).

As an addendum to my post, I have completed and am running Jade Regent, because I have two groups of completely different players.

The AP which I enjoyed the most.... eh, torn between Curse of the Crimson Throne and Jade Regent. Both have great character work, but completely different focuses. In the end, I'd probably have to give it to Jade Regent (with the Crimson Phoenix tournament taking the place of the boring superdungeon in module four).
