Which modules or seasons to start as a new PbP GM.

Ok ... I've been playing on the boards now for a couple of years and feel it's time to give back.

What are the best, maybe not so tricky, modules to do to get my feet wet? If I was to GM a season, which should I do?

The newest season is probably a good place to start because you won't need to do as much work to convert things to the latest organized play rules. I'd also recommend starting with the Core campaign in order to reduce the number of rulebooks you need to keep track of when looking at character sheets.

Really, though, you should start with whatever seems most fun to you. Just make sure you don't pick a retired scenario if you want folks to be able to get credit for it.

Also, thanks for stepping up to the GM table! There are always tons of people looking for PBP games, so you're certainly doing the community a service.

I would probably recommend starting out with three scenarios or modules:

5-08 The Confirmation (1-2)
6-10 The Wounded Wisp (1-2)

For the third one, depending on desires, either:
3-I1 First Steps, Part 1: In Service to Lore (1)
Module: Master of the Fallen Fortress (1-2, 1 XP, 1 PP)
Module: Crypt of the Everflame (1-2, 3 XP, 4 PP)
Module: The Godsmouth Heresy (1-2, 3 XP, 4 PP)

For sheer zaniness, and general destructiveness:
Module: We Be Goblins! (1-2, 1 XP, 1 PP, only the provided goblin pregens)

After that, consider themes. There are a couple of posts on the GM boards with suggested scenario lists for certain themes, like the run to Eyes of the Ten, or regional themes.

Hmm... Do you have experience at GM'ing and just not PbP PRS or are you completely new to GM'ing?

I would give pretty different suggestions depending.

For Pathfinder I have run Crypt of the Everflame and the first module of Rise of the Runelords. So, not alot of GMing, but I have played quite a bit too (around 42 PFS, mostly play-by-post, and a module each of Serpents Skull and Carrion Crown)

season four has been my favourite so far, and season three was also really good. my all-time fave scenario is 3-01 frostfur captives. it's easy to run and the NPCs are a ton of fun. confirmation is also quite straightforward, wounded wisp has a bit more variety thrown in but isn't terribly challenging. first steps has a tendency to turn ugly for the players if the dice aren't friendly.

kinevon's recommendations are great, particularly because all of those are replayable. with a large enough player base, you can run some variation of those numerous times and never need to play a level 1 character again! you can start with a fresh 5 xp GM blob every time and hit third level after you play it once.

Ok, that's more than enough to really get started. I would probably first run 1 or 2 of the evergreen scenarios like Wounded Wisp or We Be Goblins.

Then I would suggest checking out THIS thread.
Especially toward the end of the thread people are making a list of a series of scenarios with say a pirate or tien theme.

I kinda wish I had done that. Seems to give the GM more of a feel for the history and buildup along with more name recognition.

Thanks for all the input folks!

RyanH - I've just recently started running PbP games, and I'd echo some of what others have said. So far I have run:

Library of the Lion
The Confirmation
The Wounded Wisp
Frostfur Captives

They were all fun, but I think Frostfur was the most fun. I found some great ideas in the GM discussion thread and some great lyrics for a Frostfur marching song posted by the scenario's author.

I am running all my games in Core right now, mostly because I'm playing with players who don't have many unplayed scenarios - but it does make running the game much easier, when there's so much less to track in terms of classes and unusual abilities.

Hope you had a good time at PaizoCon, I had blast!

Yeah, as always PaizoCon was jam-packed fun.
