Heart of the Wilderness Human Alternate Feature and the Hunting Lodge Vanity

Ok, so while I was looking through my books and I came across the following oddity.

The Human alternate feature Heart of the Fields is not allowed in PFS, probably because of the bonus it grants to Craft or Profession check, which might be abusable with Day Job checks.

However, the Heart of the Wilderness alternate feature is allowed, and it grants a bonus to Survival checks. All by itself, it's not a huge deal.

Then I came across the Hunting Lodge vanity. For 2 Prestige Points, you can use Survival for Day Job checks.

Combining the two, it is about the same as the Heart of the Fields racial feature.

Assuming that Heart of the Fields isn't allowed for the reason above, should anything be done about Heart of the Wilderness?

Heart of the Fields: Humans born in rural areas are used to hard labor. They gain a bonus equal to half their character level to any one Craft or Profession skill, and once per day they may ignore an effect that would cause them to become fatigued or exhausted. This racial trait replaces the skilled racial trait.

I think its the difference between a +5 and a +2.

Also the ability is VERY good for barbarians.

Also, any race can take the vanities, leveling the playing field. Only humans can take the heart of the fields.

So, BNW, what's the difference again? I for one really like HotW. I take it often with my humans, of which is my most played race.

That was most likely banned from PFS when stuff like that was not allowed for Day Job Rolls, kind of similar to stuff that make the Leadership Feat better.

My guess is that now that rule is changed maybe Mike should reevaluate the racial ability and maybe allow it in PFS.

Whoops, should have looked both of them up.

Someone probably didn't consider the vanity when looking at the list. Or didn't consider the list when they came up with the vanity. Every component in a system exponentially increases the things it can interact with.

I thought it was nixed for allowing a barbarian to ignore the downside of being a barbarian.

The rule got changed? Hmm, I guess I should re-read the documentation again.

But yeah. Maybe someone needs to re-evaluate things again. Perhaps it's not even an issue, I dunno.
