Word is he'll be visiting one of the other shows for at least an ep. Probably Flash.

He's got to get back to his own world, so that makes the most sense

Sara is indeed bisexual and, as she would argue, she seduced him. :)

It was really cool to me that--purely coincidentally, they didn't feel the urge to make a big deal of it--the primary "away team" was a bi woman, a bi man, and a gay man. The DCEU shows are doing much better for LGBTQ inclusiveness lately.

Talking of Sara getting it on, I am also enjoying her and Ava's mutual crush.

It was a bit refreshing to see a character that's been labeled as bisexual ACTUALLY being bisexual. A lot of fictional character that get labeled as bisexual only seem to get show with partners of the same gender. A good example is "Jack Harkness" of Doctor Who / Torchwood. Supposedly omnisexual, but actual on-screen hookups are almost exclusively human males.

I'm sure we'll see more Wentworth Miller when Prison collapses in 2020.

When they brought Torchwood over here for Miracle Day, they swore "we're going to show how he is OMNI sexual". And then he was exclusively involved with men in the entire series. That was the worst - actively lying about their intent.

Didn't Jack flirt with a poodle? Or was that in Dr. Who? Not that that really counts and I agree with what was being said, but still.

I'm sad to hear Torchwood brought up. The only one I liked was Tosh and I so I think think of how much I miss her. (Naoko Mori for Dr. Light, anyone? I know they did a version of Dr. Light as the Earth-2 Linda Park, but that still leaves room for Kimyo Hoshi from Earth-1 or elsewhere.)

At the same time, Legends in some senses feels like what Torchwood could have been... group of sassy misfits contending with bizarre threats from time and space, sometimes led by a former Doctor Who actor in a trench coat. And actually fun!

DQ,

You're not wrong about Legends being a near Torchwood spinoff, if only they'd let Rip also go by the name Rory and pine away for Nebul-erm I mean that Redhead person. ;)

Sarah is bi-sexual BTW. She seems to go after women more often but she is kind of like Captain Jack Harkness where basically she goes after anything sexy enough.

EDIT: Oh DQ already covered that... Well go with what DQ said.

yeah, it's important to remember that her 'origin story' was she was lost at sea after running off with her sister's boyfriend for a debauchery filled cruise.

I believe that was Time Agent Spike, not Jack.

Thank you Ray. Time Loop. Ship blowing up. Cause and Effect.

BTW, wasn't the location in the final shot the same place Goldberg went on Flash.

A fun episode, even if it did turn out to only be a dream.

Bjorn,

More like simulated reality while in a near coma like state.

It was still a fun spin on both Groundhog Day AND the Matrix.

Plus you know, Gideon. :)

A rose by any other name...

Though I suspect it would have been just as easy to convince Zari if Gideon had said "I've run through the program you wanted me to and you will fail if you don't have the Legends helping you out."

Bjorn,

Some how given her stubborn nature, I doubt it...

They're not just heroes... they're legends... (on the dance floor)

I was hoping for something like that when I saw their costumes.

Bjorn,

I'm glad they saved it as and extra myself...

yeah if you want to change most peoples minds you need more then logic the emotional experience will prove a lot more effective.

It's like the show's writers KNOW human nature! *gasp* ;)

I'm surprised they didn't run it like those extras on Flash.

Maybe it's just me but being stuck in a 1 hour time loop trying to avoid dying isn't the best way I can think of to learn to appreciate people.
If anything it would hasten my departure.

Bjorn,

I think it might just be you, but then again I would haven't tried to make Gideon solve a problem I knew I couldn't solve on my own.

Agreed. There's something about watching my team fail utterly a hundred times in a row to make me realize how useless they really are.

"Together we can succeed!!" wouldn't be the lesson I learned in that ;)

No kidding. And Nate telling her to take a few loops to just relax and have fun is just stupid. They had no way of knowing if the loops would keep repeating or just end. If it ended, they would have stayed dead.

Meh a change of perspective might help you think of the answer sometimes they come to you while your relaxing or doing something else.

What Vidmaster said. Plus it led to the requisite Fun Montage (TM).

Last night's episode:

There were a number of moments of awesome and a number of moments of cringe. The Pirate Queen Jiwe (and resulting rum branding) was a highlight.

I hated Dahrk as a villain on Arrow, and I am tiring of him swiftly on Legends (shame, because I like Neal McDonough quite a lot as a performer). His powers of plot convenience started as ridiculous and are getting even more so.

Ava and Sara FTW.

As someone who tired of Rip awhile ago, I enjoyed his and Wally's sidequest.

Spoilers:

I do NOT get why Dahrk could get Amaya's totem. That was WAAY too easy. Wasn't the whole reason Mari was brought in to fight Dahrk on Arrow a couple seasons ago because she could resist his magic with the animal totem? Or does that suggest Mari is a more adept user of the totem than her grandmother? You could also posit that Dahrk has gotten more powerful, but given his power ebbs and flows with what the plot demands of him, that's harder to glean.

As soon as Ray showed up to Damien and Nora at the end I knew what was going to happen and shut it off. You got what was coming to you, Ray, and if you're going to be that much of a liability to the team, best you stay (I presume) dead. Legends is starting to get Flash's hero-stupidity-drives-the-plot disease; along with Dahrk's plot-contrivance-magic the writers appear to be getting extremely lazy and they have proven they can do better than that.

Anyone notice that in the first half of the season, they hadn't come up with the current arc yet? How many times did he not take Amaya's totem?

"Mick and Amaya are in trouble, we have to fix the ship and get back there."
Too bad you don't have a time machine. You could take a century fixing the ship, and get back to them one second after you left them.

I just keep wondering why Mick is surprised that Blackbeard might be a coward. I mean he's not a fearless character by any reading that I've ever seen.

Also glad Amaya gets to be on a bottle of rum.

You think Mick has done a lot of reading? Especially pure history?

Bjorn,

You make an excellent point.

"Yes, Director Hunter."

Director Hunter?

Gideon I'm sure has her own opinions/programming on the chain of command. More to the point she was originally Rip's AI.

I am not enthused about pointless secrets for unnecessary plot tension tho.

Partway through the ep I'm like, Gee Ray and Nora have a strangely compelling chemistry... And then I remembered Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford are married. Then that made it even more fun to watch.

Also, every time Courtney Ford/Nora makes a combat grunt or pain noise, my reflexes go, "Oh no! Piper will need a stimpak soon!"

(Omg, and what's the Sole Survivor's default lady-name? Nora.)

Alternately, it occurs to me that Gideon could be humoring Rip. Gideon is enigmatic and does enigmatic things to create enigmatic enigmas.

Related, there's something that hit me... Rip is worried about Sara finding something out about Ava. It is related to some kind of information Gideon has on file. He doesn't discourage Sara and Ava but seems disgruntled by their relationship.

But Gideon on the other hand openly encouraged Sara to ask Ava out. Either she's not bothered by Ava's "secret" or Gideon has her own plot going on... that might even be at odds with Rip. I wonder if she really deleted the file?

Hmmm.

I also heard a spoiler/speculation about Ava.

Spoiler involving future episode titles:

There is an episode called "I, Ava." That could be a reference to "I, Robot." Perhaps she's an android. Although frankly, I can't see why Sara would care. (And it could explain why Gideon encouraged the relationship, because as an AI it amuses her to hook Sara up with an AI.)

OTOH, it could also be a reference, say, to "I, Claudius" and have to do with them going back to Ancient Rome, and have absolutely nothing to do with Ava's secret.

On an entirely different note, every time they mention Mallus I think of the monster in the rather cheesy Doctor Who episode The Awakening. And now I wonder if it's not even a coincidence -- it's a 5th Doctor story where a demonic-like creature called Malus is trying to recreate a 17th century bloodbath battle in a 1984 town so it can fully manifest its power, complete with dragging an anachronism (a guy from the 17th century) forward in time to the present day. When they mentioned on LoT that Mallus needs the anachronisms to manifest it seemed less than coincidental.

All I'm sure about is Ava's past has some connection to Sara's and it's not a good connection.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

That I think seems unlikely, to be honest. Rip said something about Ava being "special" in an ominous way, so I think it's more that she has some kind of unusualness about her--or he has some future knowledge of something she will do--that he is worried about Sara knowing.

What connection could Ava have to her past? She doesn't seem to be League of Assassins trained; it seems highly unlikely she'd have involvement in the Queen or Lance families, especially since she doesn't seem to know Sara save for how she's gotten to know her through the course of the show.

Mind you're not the only person who is thinking this, I just don't see it personally.

Hama,

That was a great line.

DQ,

Well as I said, I think it's more the latter than the former since if she is special, why is just an agent?

I figure either it has something to do with her sister's death or her shipwreck that she screwed up on and could have prevented... Some kind of time shenanigans that Sara won't be happy about...

Or she's some ancestor/descendant that will cause friction. She could be Sara's great-great-great-granddaughter with enough generations to remove the 'ick' factor... but still something Sara shouldn't know.

or her existence is somehow tied to something Sara needs to do... or her death... or something wibbly-wobbely that Rip is concerned about disrupting.

When all the timeline is opened up as an option, the possibilities are endless as to what that file could say.

Or robot... Definitley could be a robot.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

But in those cases, knowing it would cause more harm than good, why would Gideon encourage Sara to ask Ava out?

For the same reason she thought that forcing hallucination on someone in a coma was a better way of making them stick around than answering the question she was given: writers are weird and the setting and characters are weirder. If I were in Zari's position it would have cemented the idea I couldn't trust anyone and I would have left the ship at the nearest opportunity

Even though I'm a proponent of what Gideon did, I'm still going to side with Bjorn, that it's a writer's thing.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I think having Gideon appear to Zari "in person" may have been just to remind the less geeky viewers that Gideon is an AI, not just the voice of the onboard computer, in preparation for something coming up.

If S.H.I.E.L.D's AIDA taught us anything, it's that if an AI has her own agenda, things may not go well for the meat sacks.

Damon,

SOME AIs, yes. I'm not sure Gideon applies to AIDA. Especially since...I dunno, NO DARHOLD was involved!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I don't expect Gideon to be Evil. But it's possible that merely due to thinking as a machine rather than as a person, any plans she has could still be problematic for the team.

Presumably this is the same Gideon that was/will be created by Barry Allen. And what is the phrase we associate with him (hint: 2 or 3 words depending on spelling)?
