Oh yes, good point. The actor did a great job with that too. I wonder if he'll be next season's big bad?

Sorta, it's Dream Girl's ancestor, Nia Nal, rather than Nura. She's the first openly trans superhero on television.

Dreamer's awesome and she's had a really great role in this season. It's nice to have had another costumed hero and her "origin story" arc has been fantastic. The actress is fantastic.

I'm going to cry when I do the press room this year, I almost guarantee it. I mean I cried last year, and that was just with the casting announcement (but I got a hug from Mehcad Brooks, so that made it worth the public tears)

Wait, you know Mehcad Brooks??

Also yes, I thoroughly enjoy having Dream girl's ancestor on this show, especially as a trans-woman alien.

Also cool was Alex figuring stuff out and yeah it seems Brainy is going back to his Coluan roots.

KNOW might be a bit of a stretch. I have met and interviewed him. Also met and interviewed Jesse Rath, David Harewood and most importantly, Melissa Benoist herself. I also interviewed Helen Slater last year, but not as part of the Supergirl TV cast interviews.

Here is my set of interviews with the Supergirl cast

And Supergirl movie cast (Helen and Marc McClure)

I am all for it.

Legion of Super Heroes as a comic has always been socially light-years ahead of other works out at the same time, although as discussed in other threads their handling of topics of race, gender, and sexuality could be a bit...ham handed...at times.

I've also written quite a bit on the character as we've gotten to know her this season. Most of it you can find by following my author link in one of the articles above, but the most recent is here instead of at Ms En Scene

Cori,

Wow. That's pretty awesome. :)

It's honestly one of the highlights of my life, and I'm going back to SDCC as press again this year, and if I meet Nicole, I might actually die.

Please don't die. I have no way of bring back dead people, even if I am a 12th level paladin of Torm from 2nd edition D&D...

Please survive the press room, Cori Marie. :)

I somehow walked out of the room for the most important 5 minutes of the episode where most of the key things apparently got resolved.

FFS, aim for the head...

Spoiler:
Lena. Especially when he's monologuing THAT long. His death monologue went on longer than Hektor in the Iliad.

And I can't believe they are going through with the identity drama. It is soooo contrived. Not how Lena would feel, but how it's been built up.

I liked everything else though, and Melissa Benoist's acting was effing on point. Loved Supergirl's armor.

It's weird that I thought the Supergirl season finale was actually more interesting than the GoT series finale....

I watched three season/series finales last night. Both Barry and Supergirl were 100 times better than GoT.

I dunno about Barry's, but Supergirl easily out did the other CW show's season endings and set ups for the next season.

New Costume looks good. Reminds me of the New 52 suit just with covered legs.

I think it's more akin to the Injustice suit than the New 52 suit tbh. I interview the cast on Saturday morning, so stay tuned!

I must say I totally forgot the Injustice costume. I just reread the New 52 Supergirl series so that was the first thing that came to mind^^

Great news about the Interview. Can't wait for it.

I too look forward to your interview, Cori! :)

Oh boy, guys. You're in for a treat when I get the interviews published later this week. Let's just say I had a very, VERY emotional moment with Nicole, and it was followed up by her referencing my question in the panel later that day, which resulted in me sobbing in the back of a crowded panel room.

By its own standards, this was a great starter to the new season.

Glad they didn't keeeep dragging out Kara's not telling Lena. But I appreciate that all is not immediately forgiven, and that was a good twist. Lena is a Luthor, she is going to grudge hard. Still, I feel like ultimately what is going to happen, painfully obviously even, is Lena will pull back from trying to get vengeance upon Kara, only for her AI Hope to become a hybrid ADA/Ultron/Hal* and become a later season villain who tries to kill Kara based on the sequences Lena designed.

IIRC James is leaving, so his walkout is part of that. But I liked that the character got to leave on his own terms.

Everyone else seemed to have at least a good moment. Loved Alex's "how do you all change so quickly?"

Speaking of quick changes, I like Kara's new costume and method for donning it, but the "growth" of the suit seems slow. Seems like she could get stuck waiting for her outfit to complete itself. Also, where do the glasses go? Does she have a pocket in her cape?

Intrigued by the new villain! Especially as it means J'onn will have a lot to do.

* Also, ALEX from that one Bionic Woman episode but I think I'm the only person who would get that reference.

What I wanted to know is this: Was Lena's move to sell CatCo part of her revenge plot? I mean James knew too and it would seem she'd want to enact revenge on him too.

I'm not convinced Lena will pull back. If nothing else it's clear she wants to hurt Kara as badly as she feels now. Even if part of her forgives her in the sense, Kara did come clean finally.

DQ: I'd bet that's the only time we see the suit "grow" that slowly. Probably done that way once so it was clear to the viewer what was happening.

Also, ALEX 7000. :)

Wouldn't it be the surprise that an AI does not get out of control and tries to destroy mankind? I mean most of them more or less go the Skynet route sooner or later. So yes Lena pulling a "what have I done" and the AI keeping her plan or even going further is the most obviously move they can make to still be able to get Lena back on the Supergirl side.

I *wanted* Lena to be all, "Please. Supergirl is Kara Danvers? I knew that ages ago. You keep underestimating me, Lex."

But, denied that, I cling to a faint hope that Lena is playing a long game, convinced that *somehow* Lex set contingencies in place, and expects her to be all revenge-seeking against Kara / Supergirl, and is putting on a show of falling for that and reacting exactly as Lex wanted / expected. (Why she would continue the pretense in the presence of only her AI is a curiousity. If she thinks that Lex may have compromised it, somehow, why doesn't she just shut it off, or fix it? Or does she think he may have bugged her office? Who knows. It's my desperate fanwank that she not have been this foolish, and that the show isn't going for this cheap drama...)

Yes, I think so. Part of that was that she wanted to leak the truth about Kara to the new owner of CatCo, which if she had done, James and Kara would have blamed the new lady rather than think it was Lena.

But I think it was also the reason Lena said: she wants to focus on other things. Lena's very good with telling truths that are also deceptive.

To be clear, I think Lena will turn, but it's going to take awhile. Her MO tends to be to barrel down a misguided path for a half a season or so and then have a grand revelation at the last minute and change. In this case it won't happen until her AI is sufficiently trained to be an all-powerful megalomaniacal nightmare. (And IIRC the only person well suited to stopping it would be Livewire, who died.)

It absolutely would be a twist that the AI remains totally just a banal and harmless computer program. Maybe it will be the one that has a grand revelation and stops Lena from killing Supergirl. But I'm not sure the CW writers are capable of this level of creativity.

Set wrote:

Totally with you there. Kara was doing obvious Supergirl things right next to Lena forever and as brilliant as Lena is she should have figured it out. I guess the idea is most of her past friendships were shallow ones like the new lady who owns Catco

Maybe the big twist is she's actually designing the AI to be an Anti-Lex device. That it is indeed her contingency she expects Lex's minions to discover and make use of, only to discover it is preprogrammed to respond to this and enact appropriate defenses.

But we are also on the CW. "Cheap drama" is a strong likelihood.

Well I guess we'll see as the season progresses whether or not she did the whole sell off Catco for more than one reason or not.

So, the new owner of CatCo is...

Spoiler:
a Mexican superheroine, Acrata? I don't know this character.

I dunno about that Damon so much as she's clearly into click bait...

would be a new one for CW for sure^^

Lena being bent on revenge for some time and than getting back seems far more likley.

Yeah, she seems really shallow, and all about the $. But IMDB has the actress listed in a dual role, so...
