Her attitude and her delivery and her costume are perfect and bright and colorful and full of hope. And that is EXACTLY what they should be.
I have a lot of deeply held feels about the Superman Family, okay.
This. This is why this might be my jam.
Also, this: My reason for hoping
That site puts into words what I didn't even realize about why I liked that scene.

He (Mehcad Brooks) was also TK on Necessary Roughness in a very nuanced role (at least the first season and most of the second, though the show started to go downhill in season 2).

I just started watching Arrow and Flash...I got to say I have a lot of Faith in Supergirl based on those shows, since the same creative talent are involved.
I am worried how well the show will do on CBS. That station hasn't had a whole lot of genre entertainment, and what they have had is kind of bad (looking at you Extant and Under the Dome). And even though CBS owns part of CW...I am kind of skeptical CBS will allow this show to exist within the Arrow/Flash Universe.

Might be a good thing. Flash barely fits in with Arrow.
Kryptonian level power would take it up to ... 11 squared. Just too big a power difference, and what works in a comic wouldn't work too well on a screen.

Plus there's the fact that Superman has been active on Supergirl's Earth for over a decade, but neither the Arrow or Flash shows have ever mentioned his existence, even in passing.
Could always have it as an alternative universe, and have Kara cross over through some dimensional portal or something, if they really wanted a cross over while avoiding Superman-level powers in the CW verse

Nope. But, his name is Michael. I guess the Kara's have a thing for men with that name.
Honestly, I really like them as a pair.

This doesn't really bother me at all. Just because someone exists in one universe... doesn't mean that it has to be a major plot point in every universe.
Just think of all the newspaper articles and news reports in Arrow that we DIDn"T see... Any of them could have been about Superman saving a train or something.
Flash is a little trickier, that show is all about the 'origins' of superpowers... so yeah, if people were flying or speeding around before that it could have gotten a nod.
Still, if it's acknowledged that he's alien, then there already isn't a connection to 'human' superpowers...

Personally I think they could have found a better girl to play Super Girl. I also don't like when heroes have to ask permission to save people and world in general. but I do hope I am wrong about this one and does turn out to be a good series.
If Superman were to appear to the world today, the first thing the U.S. (and other governments would do) would be to quietly start researching a way to make Kryptonite. Because by his very existence, irregardless of his intentions, he's a threat to the status quo power structure.

Meh, I think it's more of a big deal that Jimmy isn't a complete dork, rather than the fact that he's black.
I can tolerate the change, but my dad is a bigger comic grognard than I. He won't really even watch the Marvel stuff because of Sam Jackson as Nick Fury. And the Superman franchise being his favorite ... well I'll be hearing a lot about it for a while.

Honestly, turning Jimmy from an omega male/"Distressed Dude" to an "Alpha Male" is worse for me than his race. Jimmy could be Jimmy as pretty much any ethnicity, but being an "Alpha Male" makes him a completely different character.
I kinda like it. Superman is already an established hero and Olsen is a Pulitzer prize photographer, at the top of his game. In comes Kara.

He's also playing a very different role here than in a Superman story, if I'm reading the hints in the trailers correctly. Sort of a liason between Superman and Supergirl. He's been in the superhero game for awhile (on the edges, obviously) and he's helping the new kid out. As opposed to being the helpless source of trouble for Superman.

The change was unnecessary since the comics already have Ron Troupe. He could have filled the same role.

No he couldn't.
No one knows who he is.

Why are pilots like awkward first dates?
The entire sub plot with Kara's Sister seemed very unnecessary and only serves as a way to feed her a villain of the week. Villain of the week seems so CW, I did not expect that with a bigger network,
But there is a lot to like. The actress playing Supergirl is fantastic. Jimmy Olsen's reveal later in the episode seemed a bit awkward from a script standpoint but the actor plays it off with charm. I'm completely sold on him as a Jimmy Olsen for the modern age.
As far as pilots go it was ok but I'm happy to have it behind me. Looking forward to more.
