I actually only have one archetyped character with chronicles. Most of my characters don't use archetypes.
But when I am rolling up characters I consider if it is for story or optimization (varies by game.)
Optimization based:
Tattooed Sorcerer.
Scout Rogue (though considering it more brings them in line as opposed to making them overpowering...)
Hexcrafter Magus.
Flavor-Based:
Bladebound Magus.
In between:
Seeker Sorcerer.

Story summoner and Nature preservationist.
Story summoner as they are great fun with a Harrow deck especially if you also take the harrowed summons feat line.
Nature preservationist as I love the idea of playing a psychotic Darwin who catalogues creatures, places specemins in jars and then throws them into battle. I planned to play this one in skulls and shackles and take bits in a disturbing way from every creature defeated back to my lab on ship.

I really love that alchemist archetype that lets them use guns effectively- of all the classes you could give guns to that is by far the one that makes the most sense, and the flavor is just so good.
huh? they what? why on earth wouldn't you...
Which alchemist archetype gets that? I know there's an investigator archetype that's firearm related.

The Steel Hound archetype is the investigator's archetype that focuses on firearms, but I've never heard of an alchemist's archetype that uses firearms though...

So guys, what are your favorites and why?
I really like the Evangelist cleric. I think he he's a better fit for a fantasy preacher man than the more martially oriented vanilla cleric.
I also like the empiricist investigator. He's like something out of a 19th century pulp novel.
If I'm going for power, we're going to play a Spell Specialist Arcanist. We're going to pick up the Potent Magic exploit. And then we're going to pick up the Intensified Spell and Widen Spell metamagic feats and as much Spell Focus as we can.
Say hello to my bendy lightning bolt and a really, really long and hot burning hands.
