What does 'Eh:' mean?

Zzz...zzz...zzz

An expression of ambivalence.

Not to be confused with 'eh?', which is a glorious Canadian sentence-finisher meaning "what?", "don't you agree?", or "did you know about the thing I just said?", among other things.

Why do I particpate in political conversation?

Actually, why does anyone? I don't think I've met anyone who's had an opinion changed by it, even when the discussions are rational and well formed. Everyone simply entrenches further in their original belief. If someone is undecided on an issue, they probably don't care in the first place and aren't paying attention to those talking.

On another note, I miss playing IRL (group is being pretty flaky with finals, the holidays, and the like - I've had at least five groups disband because they couldn't get back on schedule after the thanksgiving to new years lull), and I'm tired of only being the GM online.

That being said, life is still pretty awesome, because those are seriously first world issues to whine about. When "oh, noes, I can't play my free hobby as often as I'd like" is your major concern, life is good. (Ah, there are a few real life concerns, like needing a new car, but meh, whatever.)

You should come to the town I grew up in. There are a lot of arguments about politics there!

Anyhow, Strategytiger, all of your political positions are wrong. No arguing back: dragons just have a superior ideology to tigers.

All of them? Given I was recently told that I seem to follow no heuristic basis for ideology, and my individualized positions on popular issues fit literally no existing party as a whole, including third parties, then by extension, if you're saying I'm totally and completely wrong with everything, then you, too, and by extension the truth you assert, have no rhyme nor reason to your positioning - because with all my contradictions following no pattern, neither then does the opposite.

This means I am, actually, right about at least one thing - that all of the major parties are wrong. Which makes you wrong, because you asserted that absolutely everything I believe is wrong.

So, you see, calling me wrong about everything is a logical fallacy, a paradox, and impossible.

Knowledge/Power/Corruption is a discussion worth having for real, but I've company, and am not at liberty to spend time now. That said, Gtg-aka-Redbeard covered it fairly well, in a rudimentary sort of way.

...and get resurrected in Episode X, along with Darth Maul, because Disney knows how to print money.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Darth Maul was already resurrected. He was killed even more quickly than the first time, however, by an aged Kenobi. And then he was entirely destroyed.

... unless Disney fired up the ol' Thrawn trilogy cloning tech... which is no longer canon (and differs from both the Kamino cloning tech and the Emperor's personal cloning tech in a few key ways).

... what? I liked the EU stuff. (Except Darth Caedus. That was crap.)

Wait, what? I'll admit I haven't actually seen the Clone Wars, and only know of Maul's revival from Wikipedia, but I thought Obi-Wan failed to defeat Maul, and Maul was later defeated by Sidious? Did he get killed later?

Time passes...
And now I've just wasted a bunch of time reading Wookiepedia....and there isn't anything in either the Darth Maul/Legends article OR the Darth Maul/Canon article about who killed him!
Tacticslion wrote:

SPOILER! Kylo Ren is basically Darth Caedus, but without the Darth title. SPOILER!

Spoiler:
True, but at least it's established in his character. Jacen just kind of... came out of nowhere.

Eh, was Maul killed by Sidious? I thought Sideous merely had Vader kill the three Dark Side cultists that resurrected him in the first place (because they believed that Maul was the superior disciple to Vader). At least that's my recollection of that comic. Anyway, it wasn't part of the Clone Wars series and is probably non-canon now.

SW Legends and Clone Wars:
Well, again, I'm just going off of Wookiepedia and Wikipedia, but they both say that in the Clone Wars, Maul (the real one, not a clone, since he turned out to have survived being cut in half by Obi-Wan), but neither of them died. Then, Maul declared himself the new Sith Lord, and trained his brother as a Sith Apprentice. Sidious came and killed Maul's brother, and tortured Maul for violating the Rule of Two, but didn't kill him. Nothing is stated about how or when Maul died, but he presumably had to have died somehow before being "resurrected" in the comics.
Although, maybe Disney is being smart about these things: Maul didn't die in the Clone Wars, and is not mentioned as having died in the later movies. The only source for him being dead is a comic in which he is resurrected, but that comic is now non canon, which means...
Maul is not stated to be dead in canon! He could still be alive somewhere in the sequel trilogy!

I see the confusion.

Legends: as I recall, when he was resurrected, there were robot legs (and general lower torso) involved. I may have been blending two comics in my head together, but I distinctly recall how Vader offed the cultists who thought Maul was superior. Could be that they cloned him, and sent him after Vader, or something. I dunno.

Also, I'm not using "resurrected" in any strict sense - the guy was cut in half and thrown down a really deep hole... a reappearance after that, no matter why, is generally what I'm referring to as a "resurrection" rather than an actual "no, he totes died and they got a new one and/or raised him from the dead after the fact"-type use of the term.

Hey, there's lots of spoilers:
EDIT: found a clip. Also. And the (more or less) end.

Aaaaaaannnnnd found a scene or two or three or four or five or six from the other one. Different stories, it seems. As I said: it's been a while.

EDIT 2: Found part of the first one... and not where you'd expect. Wookieepedia at the very bottom mentions,

Quote:
Because Maul had been cut in half in The Phantom Menace, he required a new set of cybernetic legs for The Clone Wars. The cyborg form of Darth Maul had previously been created by Industrial Light & Magic concept artist Aaron McBride for the Infinities graphic novel Star Wars: Visionaries.[21] Similar to the events of the show, Maul appeared in the Visionaries comic Old Wounds with cybernetic legs and sought revenge against Obi-Wan Kenobi.

EDIT 3: Found the other one, in Wikipedia, of all places. It has more than Wookeepedia, actually.

Quote:

Several sources depict Maul returning from the dead in several different forms. The story "Resurrection" from Star Wars Tales 9 depicts a duplicate of Maul created by a cult (via an unspecified process) with the cult intending for Maul to replace Darth Vader as they believe that Vader is too tainted by his past as Anakin to be a true Sith, only for this Maul to be killed by Vader. The story "Phantom Menaces" in Star Wars Tales #17 (set after Return of the Jedi) depicts Luke Skywalker visiting Maul's home planet of Iridonia in an ambassadorial capacity, where he faces a "solid state hologram" of Maul projected from Maul's salvaged brain as part of a scientist's attempt to recreate Maul as Iridonia's 'champion', Luke shutting down the life-support systems keeping the brain alive as he recognises the disruption that Maul's existence is causing in the Force.

In 2005, Dark Horse Comics published Star Wars: Visionaries, a compilation of comic art short stories. One story "Old Wounds", considered to be non-canonical to Star Wars lore, depicts Maul, now with longer horns on his head, surviving his bisection at Obi-Wan's hands, replacing his missing bottom half with cybernetic legs, similar to those of General Grievous. He then follows Obi-Wan throughout the galaxy, finally tracking him down on Tatooine a few years after Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Luke Skywalker is only a couple of years old, and Kenobi has been living in the desert watching over the boy as he had promised Yoda. Maul taunts Kenobi, saying that after he kills him, he will slay Owen and Beru Lars, and take the Skywalker boy to his master, Emperor Palpatine. Maul plans to kill Darth Vader, and resume his rightful place at Palpatine's side as his apprentice. He ignites his new double-bladed lightsaber, and engages Obi-Wan in a lightsaber duel, but Kenobi is much more powerful than when the two fought years earlier, as Obi-Wan slices off some of Maul's horns. The Sith Lord is killed, unexpectedly, by a blaster bolt to the head from Owen Lars. Kenobi thanks Owen, and says he will take Maul's body into the desert and burn it so he can never come back.

Short version: I was thinking of Star Wars: Visionaries, which contained the story Old Wounds and also Star Wars Tales 9: Resurrection; kind of blending them in my head.

Both are non-canon - despite Resurrection being part of Star Wars Tales, according to Wikipedia...

Quote:
All stories from Issue #20 and before have been retroactively labelled "Infinities", placing them outside the Star Wars canon. Starting with Issue #21, when Tales changed editors, all stories are considered to be within continuity, unless labelled otherwise. Tales stories from before Issue #21 are still considered non-canon, although canon references to the stories can and have been made, which incorporates those elements referenced into official continuity.

Reposted from elsewhere and only slightly edited for clarity:

The other day, in church, my four year old taught a nearby five-year-old how to play our "story game" - as he explained it, "... called, Blue Red Rose: The Jackelope and His Friends Go To Heaven. You haff'ta be a puppy named 'Bolt'. I'm 'Bolt 1' and 'Bolt 3' - I'm both. <baby> is 'Dispuppy' an' Mommy is 'Bolt 2' and 'Dasyu' the puppy trainer. The Storyteller has to be a player too: tha's Daddy."

He made the title up himself (because Mommy and I have been playing Blue Rose when we can - it's an RPG) as well as the title of the story (and created the main gist of it - prior to that, the puppies would just wander around and have random "adventures" like fishing in the stream or rescuing a jackalope once). Incidentally, he meant every word. After church, he explained that we needed to play that game now, and was quite insistent that the various Bolt puppies (and others) went, with the Jackelope, to Heaven. "In a good way."

(I ended up having them go to "The Haven" - an extra dimensional semi-paradise/shelter that bordered Heaven, but wasn't quite that place. He was mildly disappointed that I didn't know the difference between the two.)
