Swashbuckler Monk, Piercing Fists?

Rules Questions

Sovereign Court

I'm working on a random build and came across an odd question: If I have a Monk/Swashbuckler and picked up a Style feat that allows me to treat my unarmed strikes as piercing damage, can I regain Panache back? Technically it would be a light piercing melee weapon, right?

Boar Style -> Boar Ferocity allows you to deal piercing and I'm sure there are other ways.

Yes. One of my favorite PCs uses Snake Style to the same effect.

Ah I was trying to figure out which other style had it, thank you.

Also, that is pretty nasty, after reading down the chain, haha.

Yeah, sure. Also, keep in mind that Kata Master and Master of Many Styles can stack. So depending on your concept, you could use a heavier monk weapon to regain panache, or you may even be better off going straight Monk.

Maybe? We haven't got an official word that dealing a damage type changes the weapon type. One could 'technically' say it's a light bludgeoning weapon dealing piercing damage instead of a light piercing melee weapon.

Silver Crusade

I believe the go to response in all these cases is "no". Nothing seems to change the classification of a weapon even if it says "treat it as". Homebrew = heck yea sounds cool! PFS = absolutely not

Yeah, you are wrong on that. Even the designer of the swashbuckler class said it's intended to work with unarmed attacks, as long as you can turn them into piercing.

PS: Hamatulatsu Strike also works if you don't want a style feat up.
