And the whole Suicide Squad is revealed:
The guys on the right look like they walked out of the Nightbreed movie. (What a horrible Killer Croc)
Deadshot actually doesn't look that bad (IMHO)
Neither does Harley really (Or at least its pretty much the type of outfit I expected they would go with for a live action movie)
I am not up on DC characters enough to really know how how great these designs/characters are. It's a bit underwhelming personally
Although...um...That is a huge cast right there for the team. Can't help but feel that 4-5 characters would be easier to manage.

Deadshot solo shot. He has the mask!
I really like how the look. And I'm also happy to see new people (Katana, Slipknot and El Diablo) in the squad- more mass to the squad means that not everybody is going to walk home safe. Cap. Boomerang looks awesome, as does Deadshot and Croc in my opinion. The one I don't like that much is Harley. Mostly because I'm not a fan of the new 52-suit. But at least she is colourful.
I'm really looking forward to this movie. I really like the comics, and I hope they can get the same feeling to the movie.

Also Boomerang is actually Australian! Woo! Except that they're going to do what they do every time they cast an Australian and tell him to ham it up because otherwise it "doesn't sound real" to the audience. The vast majority of us don't bloody sound like that!
It's kinda funny, the single one Australian I did have a chance to meet sounded *exactly* like that. He was also a young, handsome, beer guzzling, cheerful life-of-the-party kind of person. The stereotype has been lodged in my brain ever since.

Deadshot looks pretty badass. Harley looks good too. Though I prefer classic Harley to nu52, I can see that look not working so well on screen or with the rest of the characters' designs. I'm not sold on Croc but I guess we'll have to wait and see. Boomerang... can't really make up my mind based on this. I'm not overly familiar with the rest crew in other media so I can't really comment.
That's a lot of people to introduce in one movie. A massive cast sort of worked in the Expendables series because we watched those for the actors (and the explosions) rather than the characters but SS could be a very crowded movie.
Despite my limited experience with the SS (Arrow and the animated instances) I'm looking forward to this movie and want it to be good.

While there are some Australian's that have that very over the top accent, it's not the norm by any means. I also know quite a few people who deliberately ham it up when overseas in order to play up to the stereotype, which doesn't help matters. Most of us don't sound like rejects from Crocodile Dundee.
It happens a lot though, not just with Aussies. The English get it as well, I've seen it happen a lot with Russians (if you've played Deus Ex: Human Revolution's Missing Link DLC or the Directors Cut that includes it, the Russian character from that has a very authentic accent that confused the hell out of a lot of people).
Worst example of it I've seen was Pippa Black in Outsourced, which was a pretty terrible show to start with, but she completely killed it for me.
Back on topic... I'm kind of liking the look they're going for with most of the characters, except for Killer Croc. El Diablo looks perfect to me.

I'm a huge fan for practical effects
I love practical effect, when they don't exceed their grasp.
I personally think the best use of CGI is to ENHANCE practical effects. Were I in charge of Hollywood, I would issue the order that studios do as much as possible using practical effects, and only resort to CGI after they get as much done via practical effects as possible.

Also... Rick Flag I get. He's the team leader and the guy who controls the bombs.
What the heck is Katana doing there? She's an Outsider, not a criminal, and to the best of my knowledge has never been a member of Task Force X/Suicide squad. Well, outside of the sorta, kinda way she is - pre-costume - on Arrow. Yes I know heroes have been part of the Squad in the past, but not the most recent incarnations and I think it sort of weakens the premise.

Have you seen the previews for DCs new movies? They are trying to out grimdark 40K
How do you out grimdark 40K?
I don't think that's even plausible. In 40K, on a good day, you only lose 1/2 of a whole inhabited planet.
For DC to compete, Darkseid would have to fall in love and adopt Krypto the Superdog, turn from his conquering ways, then at the end of the movie we get a version of Old Yeller.

For starters, they could always take a page from their comics and turn Wonder Dog into a hellhound that kills one of the Wonder Twins, cripples another, and then gets put down by the Teen Titans.

Because 40K takes grimdark to the point of comedy.

While I love the Arkham games, I've never been a fan of their character designs. They always felt like they were trying too hard to be "dark and gritty".
They never seemed particularly "dark and gritty" to me, just more practical for the medium. The bright, skin-tight outfits work really well for hand-drawn 2D animation and to a slightly lesser extent digital animation, but when the model has to be seen from every direction and is meant to be part of a wholly three dimensional world, costumes that look painted on just don't work.

Not sure how The Penguin having a glass bottle shoved into his head instead of a monocle or Scarecrow looking like Freddy Krueger with a sack on his head, to give a couple quick examples, fall inline with that theory.
I don't have a problem with the batsuit or any of the hero outfits, really. Just the way a lot of the villains are presented.

And I really like it. It's only a teaser trailer, but it has great atmosphere. And I really like Harley, she is going to be one of the most interesting performances in this movie. As is the Joker, who I find really creepy. It really reminds me of the Grant Morrison's Batman R.I.P- era Joker.
So much looking forward to this. Captain Boomerang, you must make it alive to the end of the movie!
Rosgakori Vendor - Fantasiapelit Tampere |
I wasn't a fan of Jokers look for this movie until I saw the trailer. I'm on board now.
When I first saw the pics of him, I liked it okay, except for the tattoos on his head. After the trailer I was sold. Jared Leto is amazing, I can't see or hear anything of him from Joker. He is completely lost himself in the role. That is some mad skill.
Shadowborn |
Leto sounds good as the Joker, but I still don't like the look. Overall the trailer didn't win me over. Too many faces to throw together, not enough screen time to really establish anything concrete except for the basic plot, and that's from expository dialogue. Joker gets more screen time than anyone other than Harley, and near as I can figure he's supposed to be a secondary character.
