Now available!

I just wanted to say that I downloaded the Path of War Expanded - Work in Progress, but it seems to only include the pdf for the Harbinger class...

It's a WIP - the Harbinger is the only part that's been completed so far. Each time a new class or supplement in the subscription is released, it'll be added here and you can come back and download the new releases.

Exactly what Ssalarn said.

We're working on the next part of the release, and so forth, until it's all done, then the Work-In-Progress will be updated with the finished book and the Work-In-Progress will be retired and replaced with the final version. :)

Here's the angst fueled Harbinger character sheet: https://www.dropbox.com/s/15jopdt9eed1kaj/harbinger_sheet.zip?dl=0

At first she reminded me of Batman, but the supernatural aspect actually made me think of Robert E. Howard's Solomon Kane.

When this is completed will it be available in physical form or is it just a PDF product?

There will be printed books available, just like the original Path of War.

There is potential for both to be combined into a hardcover, but that will be based on demand.

I'd definitely throw my cash in for a combined hardcover. I always love having new hardcovers to go with my PF ones.

What is the ETA for the print version?

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

No ETA at this time.

We don't have full-time employees, so it gets done as time allows. Any date I gave would be a wild guess.

Any idea what's in this as of today? Is it still just the one class of have the others been added yet?

Pretty sure it's still just the Harbinger at this point.

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

The mystic is likely to be the second release - I just got the final files from Chris for layout last week and the iconic's artwork is still underway. Playtesting on these new classes has taken longer than expected to get them right.

Yeah...we kinda stopped at the cusp of Mystic and Zealot to drag both behind a shed and shoot them >.> But testing on the new versions is going very well!

So just curious, are any new feats, style feats, or disciplines in this. I'm just kind of curious before I make this purchase. Not that I'll not get it anyway, but just wanting to know ahead of time week g that info was released on these boards already

Yes, yes, and yes.

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

The second release in this work in progress, the mystic and all of its supporting material, is finally in layout after the extra playtesting and then an additional round of proofreading.

It's looking to be pretty big - around 50 pages of material.

We're hoping to have it out at the end of the month.

Hello Jeremy,

Any updates on the new release?

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

It's nearly finished - just a matter of getting all the remaining artwork incorporated.

Cool beans, very excited for this one.

Making a note of this Should have some extra cash coming in soon, and I love the work you guys do.

Definitely yes to all of these. New feat section is a mix of class-specific and general feats (and in some cases both, like the ones that augment the Claim ability), there's a short style feat chain for each discipline, and quite a few new disciplines themselves - some supernatural, others extraordinary.

Also archetypes. Endless. Archetypes.

I second the motion that I would definitely throw in for a combined hardcover. Been eyeing this for awhile but I hate pdfs.

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

The Mystic is in final review phase - as in layout is done and we're making sure nothing got missed.

The mystic has been submitted for release. :)

I'd absolutely purchase a combined hard copy book. I'm not a fan of pdfs, either.

Sczarni

I got my copy through the subscription at DTRPG, and I was wondering hat happened to the Gunsmoke Mytstic.

Nothing untoward. We didn't have room in this one to add another new disc (Tempest Gale), so Gunsmoke and Gale got moved to the upcoming Supplemental release. The archetype has not been canceled.

Hello,

Any estimates for when the full release will be out? Crazy excited for this.

In theory? Before Christmas.

In practice? DSP's authorship could collaborate on a book regarding Murphy's Law as it applies to publishing and make millions on it, if only we could get it out of layout hell.

We'll keep you posted.

Hello all. I absolutely love the Mystic and DSP's psionic books. any ETA on when the Zealot pdf will go live?

From the GitP forms "Path of War: Expanded has been sent into layout. Final stages and we'll get the rest of it set up for finishing. We're almost done people!"

Any news on the print version?

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

Layout is in progress and it's over 170 pages... so it's going to take some time. We also have some custom artwork still being developed likely to be completed in February.

Cool! Good to hear it's progressing. Looking forward to getting the final product in my hands!

To give another quick update:

The feats table in this book is over 4 pages all by itself...

The book is currently closing in on 180 pages thanks to that, the sketches for the custom artwork have been approved and are underway, and we're currently combing the book for anything that might have been missed.

The remaining custom artwork is now in - you can check out the privateer artwork now!

We're estimating to be ready for release in a few more weeks once layout has completed.

Shadow Lodge

Will the PDF be available in a 'lite' version for mobile viewing?

I have money set aside for the print version. :) Can't wait! (I also have money set aside for an Akashic Mysteries print version. :) )

Sorry for missing this - we'll have a lite version, yes.

Seems like this just keeps getting pushed back, any updates?

As cool as the PoW classes are, I sadly had to ban them as they would replace the classes I already have in play.

The Warder ended up being entirely way better at being a party "tank" than the Knight class in D&D 3.5 (Player's Handbook II). In order to keep the Knight viable, I had to ditch Warder.

I also had to ditch Warlord, as it ended up being too good in comparison to the Marshal class (which I beefed up already by giving it high BAB and the cavalier's Tactician feature).

Harbinger I am on the fence and Mystic had to go, it was also too powerful.

The Stalker was the only one I kept as it had its own niche (rogue-type martial adept) and wasn't too powerful otherwise.

I was hoping PATH of WAR was meant to supplement, not replace, other classes but that does not seem to be the case.

Fortunately, I can get use from the feats and martial maneuvers. The new maneuvers and disciplines I used to enhance the Crusader, Swordsage, and Warblade from Tome of Battle. While I find a few rather imbalanced (I'm looking at you, Veiled Moon maneuvers), for the most part many of them are ok.

All martial classes should basically replace the classes that are currently in the game, since the ones that are currently in the game are riduculously underpowered. In effect you're sort of doing the same thing as someone complaining that inquisitor is stronger than the expert class, or that barbarian is stronger than the warrior class.

I am just a fan of Path of War and Dreamscarred Press in general, so what is to follow is based off of gut feelings and my own perception. I apologize if this seems mean as I go section by section, but it seems to be the easiest way to go through it.

I believe when they made these classes it was to create the same sort of system from Bo9S but relying on what had been published from Pathfinder as what to balance against. So, comparing it to an old 3.5 class might not be the best comparison.

Honestly, the Marshal almost always seemed underwhelming. Even with those buffs you gave it, most of my players probably would still ignore it. I personally like the Battlelord, a class that hits all the right things in my book to be a good "Marshal".

Mystic never seemed worse than the old Crusader, but with a slightly more attractive recovery system, that could easily be ruled to work as the Crusader if you like. Harbinger seemed like a refreshing take on a warrior that harnesses there emotions, though I like the idea of the Eliciter from Spheres of Power. As far as the Stalker goes, my mind processed it as almost the exact same as the Swordsage.

I don't have a link for it, but I believe that an idea like this is in the works called "Spark of Battle". Once again, a good thing for someone from Dreamscarred Press to comment on (Was this a Ssalarn project I saw somewhere?)

I personally found most of the stuff in Bo9S great to bring over, especially the maneuvers, I had to tone down some of the damage stuff to bring it down to PoW, not much though. As far as overpowered disciplines go, none of them seem like anything I could duplicate with a caster using Spheres of Power and a basic sphere with a talent or two. Definitely not anything crazy.

Well, I hope this didn't come off as mean or a rant. If I was speaking to you my tone would be thoughtful and inquisitive, but typing, much less the internet, doesn't carry tone well at all.

Heck, this might even be better to just start a thread over rather than take up room in a product discussion thread. Either way, happy gaming and may the dice treat you fairly.

I'm eagerly awaiting the full release of this, any updates on when that'll be?

It was indeed Ssalarn, but it's unofficial homebrew; there's no intention of publishing it at this time. You may be able to find it on the homebrew boards here or, IIRC, on Giantitp. Alternately, you may be able to PM Ssalarn for the link?

You can find my Spark of Battle homebrew here, if you're interested. Note that this is primarily just an alternate way to access initiating mechanics separate from the PW classes, but only includes one homebrew discipline. Even if you find yourself using it, you'll still get the most use out of it using it in conjunction with Path of War and Path of War:Expanded.

As this is more a personal project I made, don't expect to see it as a DSP published product, and please don't direct questions about it to this product thread, but direct them to the homebrew thread linked above :)

Sounds like DSP is quiet about the release date.

At this point the release "datE" is literally "the minute we've nailed this unholy demon to an altar and driven a stake of rowan wood through its heart so that we know it is dead, dead and done and will never plague the world of men again."

It'll be out when it's out and we'll all be glad of it.
