Question. Can you cast a standard action spell across two turns? Or, same question for supernatural abilities.

Example: cleric channels, uses 2 actions. Cleric then spends 1 action to begin casting CLW. Can the CLW then be completed next turn costing only one action?

The rules say you can do this for a 3 action, full round spell. I don't see anything specifically prohibiting it for normal spells.

Follow up question: if you can do this, what happens if the Caster decides not to use the spell on their next turn?

I've been adjucating it with the "holding the charge" rules for touch range spells. So if the cleric spends an action casting scorching Ray but the fight ends before their next turn, they have to maintain their concentration to not lose the spell slot. This means the cleric is walking around with a loaded gun with the safety off in a sense, and anything requiring a concentration check may make him lose it, and casting a different spell will lose it. In these situations, I say it will take two actions to complete the spell.

My players seem happy with this, but I'm not sure if it is too generous.

1. I think that you can do that. but enemies can attack you and make you roll concentration.

2. I think that the spell just fizzles away. so you can't go around with an unused spell unless its a melee touch.
