He did not! I didn't know he'd used it until just now. Clearly James does not pay enough attention to me!
This affront needs to be rectified!
James likes candy. I bet if people sent me a bunch of candy, James would stop by my desk more often!
What kind of candy do y-does James like?
I James loves peanut butter cups, chocolate pretzels, jellybeans, and licorice allsorts.

On the subject of licorice, how do you feel about black licorice?

It's delicious, and not given its fair due thanks to poor public image and a media smear campaign

Fight the licorice bigotry!

Liberty's Edge Assistant Developer

I just feel like red licorice has dominated the public discourse for too long

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I can see that being a thing, while red licorice is well accepted, because of Twizzlers and the like, black licorice suffers because it is a much deeper richer flavor. Likely some folk just cannot contend with flavor of that magnitude.

Do you like coconut? 'Cause if I'm going to start shipping you my share of licorice, I might as well save postage and send you my share of coconut too.

I love coconut!

And before anyone thinks to ask: Yes I like haggis, too. And candy corn. And liver and onions. I'm the one ruining things for everyone else.

LOL, I actually like all those things except haggis (mostly because I have never had the chance to try it, so it is more a lack of experience I suppose)

Oww, that spawns a good ask Crystal all the Things! Hey Crystal, have your (given your food perspectives) ever tried the Asian fruit called durian?

The wife and I brought one back from china town in Oakland, CA. Opening and trying it were both very interesting experiences.

I've had cookies made with durian, but not durian itself. The cookies were... memorable. They smelled like gasoline and tasted like moldy cheese. Glad I tried them, but not sure I would ever do it again.

In general, I try to be open to new experiences. I was a very shy and introverted child who was afraid of everything, so trying new things and doing things I'm afraid of became very important to me when I grew up

I see your taste buds felt similar to mine, though I got a more rotten onion/old socks vibe, though we tried to eat the fruit raw, but memorable is a good word for that giant spike covered fruit.

Also, good for you Crystal, wish more folk would face the unknown/their fears, I personally believe it makes us stronger. Hmm what odd thing can I suggest you try food wise. Don't suppose you have tried sea urchin roe sushi (uni). I happen to love it, but it is a very unique texture and taste.

TIL the lengthy history of spruce beer, which I want to write up for a gnomish intoxicants article.

I blame Cosmo that I now feel a need to start saying "I am Gruit."

Spruce beer, the taste of yule tide and the alcohol content to ease it along.... (only assuming, I know such a thing exists, I like coniferous trees, but have never drank an adult beverage made from them though)

Now I feel somewhat obligated to try it.

Spruce beer was... like drinking pinesol. I consider myself a survivor who can choke down almost anything when push comes to shove--I've eaten rotting hotdogs scavenged from a dumpster--but I managed to choke down once mouthful of spruce beer.

We passed the bottle around, and no one could take more than a swig.

My friend Morgan took one for the team. he was going through his early-20's "can't waste even a single drop" phase most young men seem to go through, and so--standing over the sink as he retched and heaved--he finished off the remaining half of the bottle then proceeded to belch Christmas spirit for the next hour.

But... but... everyone knows that the way to combine conifer twigs and booze is to boil them in aquavit. It staves off the scurvy.

What's red licorice?

Red licorice is section 3. The taste can be best described as "red-flavored."

What's red licorice?

Red licorice is red-colored, strawberry- or cherry-flavored candy about the same texture as licorice, but without the amazing licorice flavor. It's popular with Americans who prefer sugar over flavor

Favorites: Barbarian, Rogue, Kineticist, Fighter, and Gunslinger

Least Favorite: Cleric, Magus, Druid, Wizard

Obviously I don't think these are BAD classes, just not my go-to choices

Also, what AP module will you work on next?

It's mostly hard-won experience and good friends.

Also, what AP module will you work on next?

Not sure just yet. I didn't end up being able to work on Hell's Rebels or Strange Aeons because my schedule this year has been so weird, and I won't be able to work on the next AP after Strange Aeons because this exciting news censored by your Beloved Bureau for Censoring Exciting News, so realistically you'll probably have to sate yourselves with my backmatter articles, CS contributions, and (hopefully) fiction for the time being. I love writing APs, but I also love not massively disappointing my coworkers due to not being able to turn over material in a timely fashion.

I think you will be quite happily surprised this coming July 18th, though...

What do you do if you're torn between playing the cool, serious badass or the plucky, adorable badass?

Sometimes I wanna be Roland from Le Chanson de Roland, but then I feel like playing Deekin Scalesinger from the Neverwinter Nights series! Or wanting to play as either Princess Leia or Wicket W. Warwick. Or wanting to play as Hawke but then wanting to play as Varric instead!

I've noticed a lot of RPG characters are torn between several personality types, and since you're not writing a novel and don't have to worry about consistant character voice, you can switch it up as you like to have fun. I tend to err on the side of making wisecracking and/or funny badasses, but that's mostly because every GM tries to shut me down if I try to make the other kind of badass.
