Animal Hybrid Alchemist

Homebrew and House Rules

I want to cook up a home brew alchemist that mastered the ability to craft hybrid animals. Think owlbears and Duckbunnies and the like, Both of which were created by mad magic user types. Anyway im haveing a hard time coming up with a starting point.

My initial thought would be an animal companion + summoner evolutions or something like that.

Any idea would be helpfull.

Hmmm... Well, for creating completely new creatures that are not just a class feature and could in theory go off and do their own thing, maybe even breed true, special alchemical/magical equipment comes to mind, similar to the ooze vat item. Pour money into reagents and samples, out pops a creature, with a flat rate of whatever CR you wanted to end up with, and requiring you get bits of the animals you want to blend.

As for your archetype, I'd say take a leaf out of the primal animal companion hunters book and get animal companion with evolution points, dropping mutagen and various poison-based abilities to compensate. Round it off with new discoveries like allowing the animal companion to drink your extracts, maybe add the evolution surge spell to the archetype's spell list at some level.

I'd say create an Alchemist archetype that replaces Bombs for a summoner's eidolon, and make it an animal type instead of outsider. Mix in some summoner class features as discoveries. Use the animal companion progression for stats instead of eidolon progression, but keep evolution points.

Allow me to humbly offer. The Beastbrewer
