Rynjin. Just because 5 people post about an archetype you don't like, doesn't mean "Everyone is gaga over it.".
There have been a lot of folks who wanted familliars without taking spellcasting classes. The book it appeared in, answered that need... for the most part.

I had seen a lot more than 5 people post about it (it's cropped up in every discussion about Fighters recently). I hadn't decided whether I liked it or not yet, so I asked people to explain why it was considered good.
They have. There's some neat things you can do with it.
Still not with Greatsword monkeys though, sadly.

Eldritch guardian 3/ Alchemist X.
Grab a tumor familiar and a homunculus archetype as well (or not, depends on DM ruling). Grab proficiency. Now, chug down a few portions of Duplicate Familiar.
Presto! Monkey gunline.

One day I want to build a pc with a familiar that joins the fight and give it bleed via evolved familiar. Something small that normally does 1d3-2 or the like. Now it just has to attack and hit once during the fight and it deals 1d6 bleed per turn.
Not overwhelming but I like the idea that my thrush familiar can make enemies bleed to death.
