Tumor Familiar question Attack and movment

Rules Questions

1. Can a tumor familiar attack without detaching from it's masters body?
2. If a it's master moves to the enemy does the tumor get a full round action?
The 2 question are kinda tied in with each other.

1. Probably not, but it's not clear. The description of the ability says "The alchemist creates a Diminutive or Tiny tumor on his body". It's a tumor, not a creature. Tumors can't attack. And it says "the alchemist can have the tumor detach itself from his body as a separate creature". This seems to imply that it's only a creature when it's detached.

2. If the GM allows it to attack while still attached to the master's body, remember that creatures this small MUST move into their enemy's square in order to attack. It's not likely that the master can move into the enemy's square, although maybe in the right circumstances he can. So if the master is adjacent to an enemy (the usual situation for melee combat) then the tumor cannot reach that enemy.

If you fix that problem, like making your character small enough to fit into enemy squares (Tiny or smaller) then you can move into the enemy square (it provokes) and now your familiar could reach it. Or you could maybe use a spell like Long Arm to give your familiar enough reach to hit adjacent enemies. Assuming, of course, that your GM will let an attached tumor make attacks like a detached creature.

or have it be a mauler and grow to medium size while attached :P

Which would be really cool if the PC is a gnome - he would be riding around on his familiar.

Now you have me wondering what happens if the character uses enlarge/reduce person on himself while the familiar is attached. As part of the character, the tumor should be altered in size like any other body part. If it then detaches does it retain the size change, or is it like an arrow which returns to its normal size when shot?

..or he'd topple over due to the sudden shift in mass. Talk about agressive tumors! Makes me wonder where all of that would COME from, man, speedy cancer.

Actually, based on the wording in the Tumor familiar (you create a dim/tiny creature), would this be a way of getting, say, a diminutive Compsognathus familiar?

Ya I thought of maulerizing my familiar as well. Take a goat familiar which is small then with Mauler it becomes medium size. Then cast Anthropomorphic Animal on it and you now and a goatman familiar.

Now with the mauler's ability to grow would this stack with enlarge person spell?

lol I just got an idea. If you have a Mauler Tumor familiar Octopus, Blue-Ringed and it attaches to your head with it tentacles facing forwards you would look like a mind flayer. lol
