Pathfinder University is proud to announce that we will have a keep side chat with Goblinworks Bob Settles, Wednesday 3/4 at 8pm EST in Thornkeep (within the keep palisade) and on the Golarion Mumble. If you don't know, Bob is the man behind the monsters for GW. (PVE and escalations are his things.)

Bob has agreed to answer our questions (as best as he can) and Hoffman will be the moderator. What that means is you can post your questions here, PM them to Hoffman and/or ask them in Hex or PM via Mumble during the event. I am going to try to ask Bob questions that impact the most players first, and during the event will be watching Hex chat for follow up questions.

We encourage everyone to join us in keep in Thornkeep as we would love to see a large group of players together. Dress to impress and wear your best for the pictures. We will also try to record the session to share for those who can't make it. Recordings of the previous keepside chats are here

Bottom line details:

Event: Public Keepside Chat with Bob Settles
Date/Time: Wednesday March 4, 8PM
In-Game Location: Thornkeep within the keep palisade
Mumble location: Golarion/University mumble - golarion.mumble.com port 3093 in the Pathfinder University Channel. Download the mumble client here *Mumble is limited to the first 50 participants.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

What are the future plans to keep escalations interesting? Golgotha has reached the point where keeping our local monster hexes down is mostly just a daily chore. We go out, kill some monsters, hopefully do a few quests along the way, get a crappy low level expendable like string bolos (not that it is itself crappy, just common) and off we go.

Now that T2 is becoming more common, are there plans to add more T2 escalations into the pool? Having Mordant Spire on our mountain was fun. It brought everyone together, it got us out as a group doing our thing on a daily basis. We were relatively happy with it, even in T1 gear.

Thanks, fixed

Please ask for a status on Aristocrat-Freeholder-Expert class feature feats. Even if the expendables aren't ready to match them we have xp unspent to increase attributes for dowsing, foresting, mining and scavenging. Our dowsers would like the freedom to purchase personality without being forced to refine crystals or rank cantrips.

Sorry, I have lots of questions :-)

1. Random encounters are such a pivotal component of the Pathfinder tabletop RPG, are they planned for PFO? As an example, random monster encounters within a hex that are not necessarily related to the escalation or “typical” mobs for that hex, but add some more variety and danger to exploration.

2. And how about day vs. night impact to the types of mobs that spawn and/or the difficulty of mobs that spawn in a hex? Perhaps during the day you’re more likely to see wolves and bandits (or less dangerous mobs) but at night maybe more skeletons and ghouls in that hex (or more dangerous mobs than spawn during the day)?

3. How about any epic monsters, like dragons? These would obviously be huge challenges and are so quintessential they would require a lot of development, but are they something even in the long term plans?

4. Dungeons – can we get an idea when we may start seeing explore-able dungeons?

5. Any plans on adding Orcs as mobs?

6. Can you give us an idea of what mobs are in the queue to be introduced next?

7. Is there any discussion about altering the loot tables to be more commensurate with the mob role? For example, if I kill a Goblin Shaman or Ogre Shaman or Black Snake Mage, I should expect to get more spells and/or spell-related stuff than if I kill a Wolf. I'm not sure if that is the case right now.

Ask him what the inspiration was for those big blue Jelly cubes!

Have there been any thoughts of adding rare and verry rare encounters with equally rare rewards?

Can Bob give us any clues about what monster models will be added to the game next?

When does GW plan to introduce the next set of new monster models?

Apparently, one of the reasons why wolves get stuck in the terrain so much is that they are boxes with the long side down. Does this mean that we probably won't see any new four-legged critters until the wolf movement problem is fixed?

Is the wolf movement problem going to be investigated soon, or is it low on The List?
