After months of planning, its finally here!

The Pact Magic Unbound: Grimoire of Lost Souls Kickstarter is finally here!

What We're About
Pact Magic Unbound: Grimoire of Lost Souls is a compilation of Pact Magic Unbound, Vol 1 and Vol 2, with 100+ pages of new material, plus entirely new high-end artwork.

Dario and I have gotten many requests for a product like this ever since we released Pact Magic Unbound, Vol 2. We want to deliver on the idea of the Ultimate Pact Magic Product in the biggest way possible.

What We Need
Dario and I are asking for $2,500. In truth, the product is already written and has been going through rigorous playtesting over the past two months. We need your help in order to commission new artwork for the book, however, so we're not stuck recycling the artwork from our existing products, most of which is from Dario's original Secrets of Pact Magic and is thereby ten years old.

What We're Offering
Dario and I are offering a variety of pledge tiers that will allow our backers to get exactly what they want out of this Kickstarter. We also have a number of exciting add-ons that will allow our backers to gain fantastic rewards. We have a number of Stretch Goals planned beyond what is listed, but we're also listening for backer feedback in regards to what our consumer base wants to see added to the Kickstarter. Want me to make Spirit Cards? Ask for them! Want Dario to record an audio drama where he gets people to read legends in accents? We can do that too!

The incentive that I'm most excited for is our Create-A-Character add-on. Essentially, if you pledge enough funds for us to commission a piece of artwork, we'll let you decide what characters are portrayed in that artwork. Your character(s) can be forever immortalize in the forbidden pages of the Grimoire of Lost Souls, either flaunting occult power or becoming horribly maimed by it. For instance, my kitsune cavalier, Kyr'shin, will be making an appearance in the Grimoire of Lost Souls as the unfortunate victim of an alter age spell.

Thanks for your interest! Please keep up with this thread, as I'll be making announcements on it as the Kickstarter moves along.

Thank you, everyone!

We're three hours in and we've already reached 50% funding. Let's see if we can't push this even further along as the West Coast starts waking up. ;-)

Grand Lodge

I will pledge this weekend once the wallet is thicker!

I'm in. I also want the electrotech book (print+pdf) and the everyman script I am excited about this one.

Just as a heads-up, folks, Kickstarter actually doesn't charge you for your pledge until the Kickstarter ends. So anyone who pledges won't have money taken from them until March 29th, 2015.

In other words, if you want to pledge now and save up money for whatever it is you want in the weeks ahead, that's completely okay to do.

I definitely plan on trying to pledge soon and hope that it reaches at least 4,000.00 for the forgotten pact lore. That said, for the play test most backers will be getting, what all might be coming with it? Will it be large portions of the class(es) but with stuff trimmed out, sort of like how paizo did their occult adventures play test? Or will it be a bit different?

This is just out of curiosity of course, I still plan to pledge either way when I can.

Dario and I talk about it in the video.

Everything.

You'll get EVERYTHING our playtesters got, which is everything. We literally just handed [our playtesters] a picture-less copy of the entire book with all of the words carefully organized in it and told them to go to down. And that's what our backers will get on March 28th, if we fund.

Everything.

Then color me excited. I forgot all about the video, and was just reading through the page. Thanks for the info.

Only $365 from funding....not bad for Day 1!

Day's not over yet!

And I have backed. Looking like the 2,500.00 mark may get hit pretty easily.

You didn't put "For Pathfinder" in the title of your kickstarter so it will be harder for people just searching kickstarter for pathfinder stuff to find this kickstarter don't know if you can somehow fix that now unfortunately not all pathfinder player's hang out on these boards.

Pledged, this looks quite interesting.

I just bumped you to 2,350, so with 29 days to go, I think you're in good shape, Alexander

Backed. I really hope we can get up to full color...still love to occasionally take a look at my copy Tome of Magic and some of the illustrations of delightfully creepy vestiges portrayed inside, as well as the binders transformed into something just a bit other by the entities they hold within. Of course, I know you don't have the budget of Paizo or Wizards of the Coast, but Age of Electrotech had quite a bit of nice art in it, so I still look forward to the final product...especially if it's in color.

Though ultimately, I'll just be happy to get a lot of spirits to round things out with, and having a spirit for every constellation for every level will make it a lot easier to have a character that tends to associate with a particular constellation. And possibly other stuff to go along with them; Pact Magic Unbound, Volume 2 did a great job of providing lots of tools for pact magic, magic items for and against it, spells that interact with it, lots of fun binder secrets, and other such things. A wonderful resource to make pact magic really fit into a given setting.

One thing I hope to see would be a nice diagram of the constellations and how they interact with each other...I wound up drawing my own once, but, uh, it's...cartoony.

We –really– want to get to color too, Luthorne!

That diagram idea is interesting. I don't think its something we've specifically nailed down yet, but its a cool idea. Remind me again when the Kickstarter is drawing to a close; I think I have a place for it.

Backers received the objectives for their first Secret Stretch Goal today.

Now, to see if they can earn it .... >: )

Sorry, to say this... but the link that you posted in the secret stretch goal email doesn't go to facebook. It goes directly back to the Kickstarter. I think I found the facebook post anyway, but I am not entirely sure...

I wasn't able to fix it (my editing window ran out) but I did post the fixed link as a comment on the update.

Backed. Awesome, Simply Awesome

$ 184 from 9 all new "Starless" spirits (the first stretch goal)! :)

And pledged.

Stretch Goal Hit! Woot!

If this doesn't hit the $6,000 goal I'll be both shocked and sad. The Pact Magic Books are simply too consistently good to not make it in the remaining time.

Me too, but I'll be very surprised if it doesn't go over the $6,000 and then some. Remember, it's only been a few days since it started and it's already reached the first stretch goal.

The consistent high quality of the work plus the wonderful ideas this has for characters is the reason I put my money in. I can't wait to see what the goals are past the $6,000 point. Though I have to admit as much as I like the idea of color art I will be sad to see some of the old art go.

Contributor

I'm going to be posting an update that includes the next batch of stretch goals for the Kickstarter later this afternoon, probably around 5pm EST. It'll also include an extension to the Secret Stretch Goal because I didn't explain it well before I had to head down south.

Contributor

We've made our first Stretch Goal! Nine new spirits for Pact Magic Unbound: Grimoire of Lost Souls!

Additionally, I updated the front page with the ability to buy additional copies of Grimoire of Lost Souls as an add-on as well as the ability to work with me to create new archetypes or feats for the final product.

Also, I (hopefully) cleared up a lot of the confusion surrounding the secret stretch goals.

Which pieces particularly will you miss?

You can always help us promote our stuff! Dario and I are doing our best, but a mob of rabid Pact Magic fans can only make things better. ;-)

I hope to be able to pledge for this. I meant to pick up volume 2 at some point, so this would be a really good time to do so!

TOZ, volume 2 is an amazing addition. If you never got around to getting it, this seems like a no-brainer. Peer Pressure Voice.. "Do It. Do It. Do It."

Contributor

Would it help if I told you that backers get the ENTIRE script for the book immediately after the Kickstarter ends, TOZ?

Sure, it'll have no art, no book marks, and be totally drab to look at, but it'll be YOUR playtest document that'll have a lot of what Volume 2 has (and then some).

Well, it doesn't change my financial situation, if that's what you're asking. :P

I'm in for the $15 pdf at this stage. If I can tweak my finances, or if you allow people to up pledges after the fact, I might be in for the Everyman Gaming subscription add-on as well. (Since I've asked about such a thing in the past, it only seems fair.)

You actually don't have to pay us anything until the project ends on March 28th. You can alter and adjust your pledge as much as you want until then, and no money is drawn from your account before that date.

Instead of quoting all of the backers on this thread individually, I'm just going to give one, huge thanks.

THANK YOU!!!!

We couldn't have gotten this far without you! Literally.

To me the most iconic pictures are the one showing the guy with the eye in his hand near the index at the end of Secrets of Pact Magic & the one that has Fey Baraddu & Omlan Atlan at the dance together. The composition & use of grey tones in both those really make them stand out.

I also really like the picture of the demon eye in the race section. Something about the way it was done really gives it the right out of this world/he's not natural vibe. I see that getting the Frehmin back, will getting the Demon Eye Race/Template back also be a stretch goal? Or even better already in there, we do need a pact magic race. Though I suppose we could say the same about the Atlan (who I would also like to see back).

I would also like to say that the pics of the pact warrior putting his arm back on & the woman morphing into the hound (Villains of Pact Magic) are also very evocative pieces of art. I also want to say while the pic itself wasn't that great for Mute Sylvis I loved that there were flying owlbears in it. That had to be what the wizard who first made them was trying to get.

While I'm at I have a few other questions. First while most of the original classes have been converted to archetypes there are still 2 that I miss from the original books. None of the archetypes really cover the Warbinder & its use of Vivilors. A group boosting pet class seems like a fairly unique class in this case & I don't see how you could do it justice with an archetype. Plus the battle trance the pact warrior lost when becoming an archetype would be a great fit for it.

Also what about the Raviged Soul class from villains. It makes too many changes to the class to really qualify as an archtype & it was great for making NPC's. (Anima are going to be done in the new book right?) One of my most feared NPC's was an ogre Ravaged Soul (to lady of blades) with the Lemurian Devil Binder prestige class.

Speaking of which I understand that we are going for 20 pages of presitge classes (Yay), but the original had over 30 pages. PLEASE tell me that the Devil/Demon/Angel binder classes are still going to be there. How many of the old classes are going to be converted & why were the others left out (details please). Also while there are going to be a huge amount of archetypes with one for each class, there will still be some new ones for the base class. It needs more.

Any chance we will get a section on restoring spirits to life & the consequences like in the original book? How about the optional supernatural taint rules from the back of the book. That would be an optional rule, but I found it really helps drive home the fact that this is forbidden magic with consequences even if I never used it on PC's.

I know I'm asking for a lot but I want this to be the definitive book of pact magic for pathfinder. That way I can not have to keep bringing my Secrets of Pact Magic book along with the others. :)

....Maybe I spoke too soon... It kinda slowed down a bit. No activity I can see for today.
