Is there a weapon like this on the lists?

Advice

I am interested in having a blade attached to one arm of a set of Heavy armor.

Similar to the automail blade used by Edward Elrich in Fullmetal Alchemist.

Is there any weapon in the books that behaves similarly, minus all the alchemy silliness?

Not familiar with the character, but maybe a locked gauntlet + weapon, or armor spikes (reskinned as desired.)

Mostly just the scizore, which has you sticking your arm into a tube that has a crescent shaped blade on a stick at the end of it.

Technically, that weapon your described is a type of katar (punch dagger within the system).

Maybe a pata (similar to katar, but studier, having the blade attatched to a gauntlet like handle.

Just a note- all three of these are pure piercing weapons.

Pata matches what I was looking for, but attached to the armor itself.

Hoping to allow for limited use of hands, while staying armed.

Armor Spikes would be the most logical choice, mechanically, I just wish "Armor Blades" was a thing.

There was a 3.5 splat book that had spring loaded shortswords for the forearms. I believe the book also contained the factotum class. I'll have to look for the book to confirm.

As they said, Scizore or maybe a spiked gauntlet

The closest your going to get is a punching dagger or armor spikes,

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Rumpin Rufus gave you a great option with the combination of Locked Gauntlet + Any Blade.

A few have stated the Scizore.

Just remember that game mechanics are not flavor. Want your dude to be a Samurai? Cool, grab that falchion and call it whatever; dress him in scalemale and call it whatever. The *numbers* matter, but the image and dressing doesn't.

Take one of the above and roll with it. Your character looks and acts however you want it to.

The Klar is a bladed shield. The description says it counts as a light shield, so you'd have limited use of your hand. If you got a mithral klar you'd probably be able to cast arcane spells without too much trouble. Some DMs might question whether Improved Shield Bash would work when making a slashing attack with a klar. I'd probably allow it.

For good or ill some players and groups are not happy with "re-skinning", especially if they feel that the player is trying to gain even a slight mechanical advantage. I think it also might be illegal in PFS.

I found this, it basically has what I want.

Exotic Weapon feats seem reasonable, considering the complicated use of the weapon.

Punching Dagger or Katar is probably the closest.

Scarab Sages

Or a knuckle axe.

Check the Pata. Literally says it's an upgraded version of the Punching Dagger where it is a blade stemming from a gauntlet. You also cannot be disarmed while wearing it. It is an exotic weapon though.

The same description uses the term 'fingerless'.

Have you actually seen a pata? Just check out the example in this wiki entry. It is hardly different from the scizore.

You could argue that since the finger side is left exposed, it could work like a buckler.... but bucklers have special rules that let you hold things at the same time (in contrast to the heavy shield). And since there are also examples of weapons that have to specifically allow you to hold things at the same time (brass knuckles and cestus)... well, assume it works like any other weapon and that your hand is occupied.

Do you have a Clockwork Leg and Arm?

Edward Elrich never wore armor.

If combine the Clockwork Arm, with the Weapon Versatility, Boar Style, or Tiger Style feat, you can deal Slashing damage.
