Unexperienced player need help with Summoner and Eidolon

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Greetings!
As you can see in the subject line I am in need of some more experienced help.

I am going to my first game tomorrow with a GM and I have chosen to go with a Summoner før the first time. This is the first time I play any spellcaster at all and I have no idea if my character is correct.

The Naturalist Summoner: Proteas

The otherworldy Beast: Atheas

Is it all set up correctly or have I made a huge error?

We are starting at level 4.

Looks like your evolution totals are way off. Your Eidolon should only have 8 evolution points

In addition to having way too many evolutions, you also have 9000gp worth of wands and 2200 more GP in starting goods. That's entirely up to your GM, of course, but suggested starting cash for a 4th level character is about half that.

Agamendor: It would help if you told us what your GM told you, in terms of the rules for creating your character

Starting cash for normal 4th lvl.
How can it be to many? I followed the guidline. at lvl 1 you get 3, at lvl 2 you get 4, at lvl 3 you get 5 and at lvl 4 you get 7.
Or is that a total on them all? If so, can I then switch all the evolves when evolving? wands cost 750g a pice

That's the total, not the per level. But yes, you can switch them - outside of special archetypes you have to stay with the same base form (quad/serpent/biped), but you can change all of your evolution assignments to your heart's content every time you level up.

Only level 1 wands cost 750g - higher level ones are (much) more expensive.

FYI, since you said you're new - summoners are one of the most complicated classes for even experienced players.

That's the total. You should have a total of 7 for class level, and 1 for the feat Extra Evolution.

I'm not sure what you mean. Every time you summon your eidolon it has the same abilities. You can move evolution points around when you level.

Your first two wands on your sheet are casting 1st level spells as a 5th level caster (the +5 at the end is a function of caster level). (CL5 * SpellLevel1 * 750gp) = 3750gp each. A 750gp wand would give you 1d10+1 for rejuvenate Eidolon and 1d8+1 for Cure Light Wounds.

Alrighty. Thank you. Will do some changing then :)

How about now? Changed the wands, "respeced" the evolution

I don't know if I'm reading it wrong but it looks like you still have too many evolutions. With 7 evolution points and 1 from the Extra Evolution feat, that should give you 8, but I'm still counting 9 points on your sheet. I see that you have Reach (Claws) twice, but that's actually what you need to do in order to give both claws that reach. Personally, to balance this, I'd get rid of the bleed damage, and just take reach with both claws.

Not sure if Improved Damage (Claws) and Improved Natural Attack (Claws) stack. I don't think Improved Natural Attack is supposed to be available to PCs, but that's between you and your GM. Most of the ones I've gamed with would allow it.

I'm not seeing how the Eidolon has a STR of 21 at this point. Quadruped base is 14, +1 for being 4th level, and +2 for Ability Increase (STR) should give you 17. I see something that says "Animal Focus" I'm assuming is from your archetype, but it says +2, so that gets you to 19. Where's the other +2 coming from?

The rest of it looks good.

On your main character sheet, your wand of Cure Moderate is casting at a level 10 (the +10 at the end tells me that), and you need to dial it back to 2d8+3 to make it a caster-level 3 (the minimum for that spell).

Good call. Could well be.
