Follow the example of the mighty James Jacobs. Post count is most impressive. Do not waste the old thread. Necro!

The proliferation of these kinds of threads reminds me of the old Mature Boards back on the WotC D&D boards. Spoiler warning, they weren't that mature.

What was your first mythic trial?

You are pretty awesome. :)

Am I supposed to ask you questions here or something?

I'm not that mature. Well, I'm emotionally mature, and fairly well adjusted. But I am also an overgrown manchild who spends far too much of this time and energy thinking about robots punching monsters. Because otherwise, what's it all for?

Mythic JMD031 wrote:

Talking my way into the Paizo office to give them a demo of Rise of the Runelords on a virtual tabletop... for college credit.

Thanks. I sure do like it when people acknowledge my existence, other than to tell me to get out of the way on the train.

You can ask questions AND something.

+1 to your post count

No questions thus far. But I assume that, for being on the first page, my glory will be eternal.

That said, if you have an answer for my lack of question, I will attempt to be enriched by it.

As someone I've seen to have some idea what he's talking about design-wise, I'm curious whether you're familiar with the "Extra Credits" video series on YouTube and if so, if there's anything in particular from among them that particularly stuck with you.

So are there other Evil Presidents out there? If so how do you get alone with them? Is the a Evil Society of Evil Ex-Presidents or something?

How can we tell that you're the evil Lincoln if your beard hides the goatee?

Or is that a Super-Goatee of Glorified Evilness?

If so, where can I get one? I've already got the evil finger steeple, and the creepy shiny glasses.

Why does John Kretzer want to be alone with other evil presidents, but not with you?

Damn typo I mean 'along with'.....

What rules changes/adjustments have you proposed?

What is your favorite solution to a common Pathfinder complaint?

Mythic Evil Lincoln, I have a question. What is that smell I keep smelling? It's either something in the refridgerator or one of the cats.

Which is it?

Freudian typo.

I do think you're onto something there.

I heard you have a beef with Evil Millard Fillmore. Care to comment?

I apologize for the wait. I temporarily defected from the frozen tundra that is now Boston in favor of sunny Florida. Sitting on my computer during such a lucky break would have been unseemly.

I have not, but I will try to make some time to take a look now.

If I know anything about RPG design, it's that it is really, really hard. Most of what I do is customize the rules to suit my taste and serve my individual campaigns. I find that's a lot easier than trying to make rules that appeal to everyone, since that's an impossible (and unenviable) task. The best you can do is state clearly what you're trying to do, then keep checking back to see if it got you what you wanted.

There are other presidents of various alignments on the forums, of course. I haven't seen any for a while, but I'm sure they will appear now that you have summoned them.

Scythia wrote:

I have surpassed 5th level, so I will show as evil when subjected to divinations designed to discern alignments.

Treppa wrote:

The more the merrier?

Fergie wrote:

Well, I tend not to propose rule changes... not the kind that I think should be adopted into the PRD anyway. Mainly because I think big changes do more harm than good, and they almost always bring unanticipated consequences.

If you mean House Rules though, I have a bunch of those. That's my favorite thing about these forums, is you can get really quality, in-depth feedback on such things.

Fergie wrote:

Well, my own favorite creation is the Strain-Injury hit point variant, which solves the problems of HP realism and healing paperwork between encounters.

My two other favorites are not my creations: 1) balanced attacks from Trailblazer, where you only get two iterative attacks at the same bonus, and they just ratchet up the numbers to meet the DPR of the RAW system.

2) Combat Maneuvers only incur an attack of opportunity on a failed roll.

These are my favorite kinds of fix -- they manage to address a targeted problem, but leave everything around them in tact. They're encapsulated. That's always nice.

Bathe the cat. Or use toilet wipes. They sell special pet ones, but you can just use the normal ones from the grocery store.

If the smell persists, it's the fridge.

Alternately, you could clean the fridge first, but the fridge is less likely to appreciate you for it.

I'll spare you the Conan quotation, which I do know by heart, in favor of my real answer: sharing stories with friends. That's why RPGs are my best hobby, but it's not the only form in which I get to share stories.

As for Evil Millard Fillmore, he owes me $20.

Valtane Beastblade wrote:

No, JWB never survived long enough to ascend. Good John Wilkes Booth is around here somewhere, but he's little more than a nuisance.

Chyrone wrote:

The Haberdashery. OF EVIL.

Artemis Moonstar wrote:

If this is true, and I'm not confirming that it is, I would only advocate such restraint in the hopes that it would bring about even more calamity in future.

Dungeon Master Zack wrote:

I'm not. Simpler minds constrained by primitive moral taxonomies feel the need to categorize me as such, chiefly because they cannot perceive that my actions answer to a higher morality than that of "good" or "evil.

Kajehase wrote:

The bowler is a fine head covering.

It's the trillby that ought, in most cases, to denote a gentleman who should be shunned.

Well now, that was a rather rushed mass response. I'll try to be more clever to each of you in future.

Because free RPG day only comes but once a year. But it's only a matter of time, I imagine.

Artemis Moonstar wrote:

Nay, it is a portal to the Plane of Elemental Cheese! Take this snorkle of cheese inhalation to protect you from its hostile environs.

So mister Mythic Lincoln, what's your view on why the chinese are so adequate at mixing slapstick with horror themes and martial arts in their movies?

Which would you suggest for a relaxing activity, seeing a play, or a drive around town in a convertible?

Wylliam Harrison wrote:

I'm no expert, but I suspect it owes to the origins of martial arts films. If understand correctly, shaolin monks were forbidden from practicing combat art under the communist regime, and so they concealed their practice as theatrical performance. This means your world-class martial artists were practicing alongside the best performers of more traditional theatrical techniques, some of which drew upon deeply traditional iconography, especially when it comes to the supernatural.

So, I guess that's my theory. Theater is often more versatile than the filmic entertainment we're used to, combining elements of different genres. Chinese film, at least with respect to martial arts films, is much more directly linked to theatrical performance, I guess. I just made that up, and would welcome a correction or confirmation.

Scythia wrote:

Difficult. If, as is presently my situation, you the temperature where you live is *stupid* then the play is a better bet. However, last week I got to drive around Florida in a convertible, and experience greatly enhanced by escaping the aforementioned wintery hellscape.

Do you know how bad I've wanted to make a "Mythic Chaotic Neutral John Wilkes Booth" alias since I first read a post by you? But I've already wasted two aliases on obscure jokes, and really, what possible audience would it have unless I used it to troll you at every opportunity on this forum?

For those who are curious, the name "Evil Lincoln" is a reference to a Futurama episode, one of "history's greatest villains".

I had been on the Paizo forums for a while as "Toyrobots", which is my more generic handle for a lot of things online. I saw this avatar ("Alistair Wade" I believe) and it jumped out at me.

At first I was going to make use it for a few joke posts, but I realized very quickly that I liked it more than that.

Of course, my ascension to Mythic Power occurred on the day of the Mythic Adventures release. One must keep current, you know. Mythic TOZ ascended quite soon afterward, I wonder if that means he's in my Pantheon.

Razor Coast will do that to you.

Hi Evil Lincoln!

Have you met your brother Mecha Lincoln? One the alignment scale, he's clockwork.

Oh I got the Futurama reference immediately. I do love that show, and lament it's latest cancellation.

You were warned this day would come. I completed my first trial and ascended to greatness.

Your day will come.

This is not a bump of your thread because I'm bored with nothing to do and enjoy reading AMA threads due to their nonsensical tangentials and/or I really want to get some mileage out of this alias, and I feel bumping this thread will get me the most opportunities to extend this joke beyond one post...short of spamming every thread you post in with nonsequiters, obviously...

Nope, that's not what this post is at all...just an announcement of my ascension, is all.
