The wife is trying to level her divine skill but is having trouble figuring out how to. None of her attack skills will let her slot them and she can't figure out a weapon to attack with that will work. Help please.

She'll need an Acolyte's Battle Focus equipped to slot Cleric cantrips. I think the starter town goblins still drop them, for the time being.

Do they need to be attack cantrips or will any work? She has lightning arc but it won't let her slot it.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Anything cleric fits in a focus, they only have a single weapon currently. You can get a free focus from the Focus Supplier who is standing next to the cleric trainer.

Just slightly off-topic (and possibly out of date) but here is an example Cleric build to level 8 that Ryan posted in October. Hope it helps.

They need to be attack orisons. (Cantrips are the wizard version.) Casting beneficial orisons like Bless, or healing people with Minor Cure, won't give her any Divine Achievement Points. (It might work that way eventually, but not yet.)

Her other option is to kill skeletons with any weapon. They grant Divine points no matter how you kill them.

Lightning Arc is her best ranged spell, but Touch of Darkness (melee range) will do a lot more damage per hit. She must be holding a focus in her hand to slot these spells.

If she is holding a focus, and not able to slot these, have her change weapons by pressing the ~ (tilde) key. Then slot the spells.

What are some of the low level attack orisions? That way I can look at what she has to see if I can help her.

So step by step here:

She can talk to the guy, red shirt shady looking fellow, inside of the temple to get an Acolyte's Battle Focus. Make sure it is slotted, and that you have hit the ` key or the green button between the bottom six slots, so that she has it active.

Once that is finished, hitting F and going to active attacks, she should be able to drag and drop them into her Battle Focus slots.

Just equip the bloody focus. If she has a focus equipped, the ONLY attacks she will be able to see are the orisons.

Lightning Arc and Touch of Darkness are her best ranged/melee attacks as a Cleric, those are the only two worth using, unless you are in a very niche situation.

Primary attacks, cantrips, and orisons can only be placed in Slots 1 through 3 on a weapon, wand, staff or focus. Their icons have a white border. Secondary attacks, cantrips, and orisons don't have the white border around their icons, and they can only be placed in Slots 4 through 6.

Lightning Arc is a secondary orison. If she's trying to put it in Slot 1, 2 or 3, that might be the problem.

Important note: Touch of Darkness doesn't hurt skeletons. (Luckily, it doesn't heal them either.)

If she's fighting skeletons, her best bet is to kill them with a weapon instead of her focus.

Thanks guys once we finish Watching Castle we will give it a try.

On a side note, last episode of Castle was really good, lol.

That did it, many thanks.

Thats not entirely true.

They only have focus weapons but there are several different types.

At the first level of orisons it doesnt matter everything works fine with the free battle focus.

Once you train your orisons above first level you need a +1 focus and the type does matter.

Note early on it is handy to equip a bow or staff as your second weapon as focus range is limited to 20m. You will still get divine points with a bow if you are killing stuff like skeletons.

Also can get Divine points killing cultists like river shepherds.

Of course, if you're killing Cultists or Skeletons with a focus weapon, all the better.

Yeah that works.
