Hey, Secret Wizard I have something I would like you to look at and get your opinion on it. How can I send you what I have?

imasecretwizard at gmail dot com will do the trick.

I'm looking forward to that book. :)

Wyvaran Sorcerer archetype?

Don't know if missed it but what is the name of the book?

Do you take 3pp requests?

Ghoran Barbarian/Bloodrager with a general focus on being an unstoppable plant-person capable of rooting themselves in place for positive effects and eventually gaining root/tendril/pull attacks while doing so.

Lashunta, Vishkanya, or Wyrwood (I was going to say either Changeling or Half-elf, buuuu~uuuut... you have those...)

Something like a mesmerist- or psychic-gunslinger or an occultist focused around a gun.
(I'd originally been thinking about a witch doing similar, or a gunslinger with hexes, but sans Changeling...)
I'm envisioning this one as most likely lashunta. One option I'd love to see at some point is something done with a gunslinger and actual psionics (ala Dream Scarred Press), but I'm unsure you're interested in such things at present. Some sort of charming/venomous gunslinger could work for Vishkanya (or maybe the alien lashunta), while a Wyrwood who modifies themself to be a gun or something could be cool.

Some kind of serpentine-style Mesmerist, maybe with mind- and body-poison or something (could work for Vishkanya or nagaji, really... I could even see lashunta, or even Wyrwood - and deafinitley half-elves or changelings - under the right conditions/fluff...)
If there was a Psionic Mesmerist for the lashunta, I'd think that would become very popular quickly - similarly a Psionic psychic or occultist (perhaps based around castrovelian native wildlife or crystals or natural dream-region or something) for lashunta.

A wyrwood archetype focusing around him becoming either an ever-more real boy or ever-more golem like. The only problem with these archetypes is that I can't imagine them being very extensive or class-exclusive. It seems like something that should have a mechanical representation, but once you've got alter self for a real boy approach and once you've got the (entirely fictional, existing only in this post, so far as I know) construct form II, where are you going to go? It's possible that the "real boy" angle could be taken by other races that want to become something they are not - spies or assassins for the nagaji or Vishkanya, infiltrators for the lashunta/elves in conflict or the Vishkanya, or tie flings that shed their fiendish essence, something similar. I could see either alchemist or vigilante (or maybe investigator or slayer or something) doing well, here. I could also see use in poison use or witch hexes here... and there's no witch-themed vigilante... But that's a Changling thing... hmmmm...
For the hulking wood golem Wyrwood, something like the red dragon disciple could be pretty solid, or maybe like that undead PrC or demon PrC that allow you to slowly become an undead or demon or something. If the dragon disciple is a path, you e got both blood rager (featuring the the impossible bloodline of sorcerer fame) and the actual dragon disciple PrC can be used as inspirations, maybe.

EDIT: awesome rules to blend together or borrow from: technology guide, psionics, psychic rules, fore arms, and so on. Also mentioning a few other hasty ideas.

Hey everyone!

Just coming in with some news:

Forest Gaming Press has helped publish Uncommon Callings, which includes several archetypes written by Yours Truly. It's not that expensive and it includes stuff to appeal to all kinds of players so I think you might enjoy it.

While it was originally slated to be a racial archetype book, halfway through I felt bad about restricting the possible races that could use each archetype, so instead, I just added heavy racial flavor to each archetype (to commemorate their original race restrictions), but made them open to any interested player.

You'll find cool stuff like:

  • Mechanically interesting archetypes, like an INT-based Cleric who gives up Channel Energy for a pool of points that allows them to spontaneously cast spells; or a Brawler that mixes firearm shots with melee attacks, for you to make your own action movie hero ala Die Hard or Bourne Identity.
  • Flavorful, character inspiring archetypes like a Swashbuckler dedicated to poisons and deadly dances (which may be reminiscent of certain Game of Thrones character), or an archetype that turns the Occultist into an archaeological dungeon delver.

That being said, I am mostly swamped with other work right now to take care of this thread and think up archetypes for a new book. If anyone wants to take on the torch, please, be my guest!
Meanwhile, if you don't mind, I'll be using this thread as inspiration for archetypes to come...

I cant't believe I discovered this thread just hours after you post saying you are officially done. :(

Oh, well, you can still post here! I'm sure there's ton of people who have a lot of creativity who'll want to take in the requests!

And as I said, I'm still looking this for inspiration -- the INT-based Cleric was made after someone said they wanted an Android Cleric.

Did the tengu occultist make it in...?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It did!

It started off as Tengu - the idea was to base it off a thieving magpie. An occultist attracted to shiny objects, with powers to infiltrate and steal them from ancient crypts.

Eventually, I started liking the flavor of making it kobold based... and then I just removed the racial restriction.

I think you may like it.

Liberty's Edge

What about a svirfneblin bard which is wisdom and intelligence based instead of charisma based. As in instead of inspiring others with their performance skill, they did it with their craft or profession skills. This seems like it would work to me since, according to the prd, "In the dark below earth, svirfneblin protect their enclaves, keeping their small communities safe from the terrors of the lightless depths."

Another idea would be some sort of gillman caster focused on resisting the domination of other and, sometimes, being able to reverse domination or charm spells.

How about a Dhampir Magus archtype focused on tapping into their undead heritage?

..sorry to add to the large load you have here but I have a couple of odd ideas rattling around in my skull...

Orc Cavalier not nessaricarily WORG RIDERS but there is something there.

Lizardfolk Witch

Half-Orc Vigilante protector/avenger in a world that hates and fears them.

Tiefling Summoner

Any chance of an archetype for an Occult changeling? Preferably psychic or Occultist?

next target.

edit: unfortunately like all 9th level casters they don't have much to give up and even worse most of the hexes I thought would be good are already hexes.

Thank You for trying.

It was such an strong image in my head, I forgot to check if the class already had the support for it.
I should have put forward a different class; like an Occultist wielding tribal fetishes as implements...

Give me a bit; that might also already exist.

How about instead of replacing what few class features a lv9 caster has.. you make a racial archetype that lowers them to lv6 spells and give them class features?

I could see that for something like Orc Wizards that carve spells into their flesh/weapons instead of using a spell book, or Troll clerics that share their regeneration through stigmata and letting others drink it.

Scarab Sages

I like your style Bandw2, want to take a stab at this one I posted a while back?

so, i'm going to say this outright. I do not have any real understanding of any of the occult classes. I've read them over when they first came out and they basically didn't do anything that interesting so I've never even tried to make a character with them. This kind of magic/fluff and the kind of mechanics I saw just were never interesting to me.

Except the Mesmerist anyway. though I didn't look into them that much.

As for 9th to 6th level casting? oh boy, probably because it'd be best to just make it an archetype of an existing 6th level caster.

like seriously, stuff fits so much better that way.

When you bump down to 6th level caster you probably will only add tertiary and maybe secondary powers added. Coming up with a thing that's like judgement or bardic performances to take up that space is hard too, also probably want a new spell list.

so yeah, much cleaner if you make it an archetype for an existing 6th level caster.

so if you're asking me for requests, please don't request occult classes or strange things like a 2/3 caster witch. I could do them, but my quality would be down or they'd take a long time. ;-; maybe both.

though now I want to make a 2/3 caster class witch or something as a normal class(will work for muns)

though feel free to request anything else of me.

Although, looking back on the recent ones, many races don't make good racial archetypes, I believe a racial archetype must be based on something mechanically unique about the race.

Like Wyrmwood was suggested up above, and it's basic stuff is it's immune to a ton of stuff... I don't really know how I could improve upon that for many classes. that's why I haven't picked up many of the 'recent' stuff.

Wrywood: An Alchemist or Gunslinger that goes off clockwork(alchemist) or makes literal firearms/legs/chest/whatever(gunslinger).

and that's my point, a human should be able to do all that. :/

don't worry though, had an idea for another class. will be working on it soon. :3

How about something for my Garou?

welp here it is

>The Modificationist<

I swear the long hard to say name wasn't intentional. Wyrwoods aren't annoying smart and holding it over you.

EltonJ wrote:

maybe, i'll have to think on it, since they don't have much in the way of unique abilities. maybe something for their preference to not wear armor...

Modificationist would be cool for Androids too. Nicely done.

Pathfinder Lost Omens Subscriber

on Garou... is the dual talent alternate racial trait supposed to be there? because it doesn't replace your normal ability scores, allowing for the normal ability scores and the extra 2 +2s, including stacking on top of the normal ability scores.

I would love ideas for an obitu samurai.

Ah, right. I'll just remove it.

an obitu samurai feels like an obitu who took levels of samurai to me.

I got plans for the Garou, will probably have them by end of the day.

An Aaasimar Swashbuckler sounds neat.

Still they look good and it was an excellent effort. :)

Any chance I could get a botahvan archetype for bard and/or druid? (I'm thinking Mindsinger would be a great name for a botahvan bard archetype. As for druid, maybe Psychic Druid? I know, that one's not very good.)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Are Path of War classes up for options? Because I would really love a Reaper archetype for the Harbinger class. If not an Inquisitor archetype for them would be pretty sweet too!

How about a draconic kobold archanist?

How about a more feral less evolved version of catfolk that leans more towards it's origins as a big cat and focuses on natural attacks like claws and bite. I picture them being more solitary or living in small nomadic tribes that survive primarily by hunting and rarely if ever trade or interact with other races. As a result, they would lean more toward physical power and speed and be less sociable. Due to their close connection with animals (in fact they nearly are animals) I think a beastmaster or something similar would be a fun class for them.

Good to have some free reddited, homebrewed archetype stuff out there (plus some not-so-reddited stuff too!). ;)

I've been trying to think of what classes match up well with deep ones and there hybrids, with divine casters being to obvious in my opinion. So how about a Psychic bloodrager. Something that taps into the eldritch powers of the deep ones. Maybe even helps hybrids reach that final change quicker. The obvious problems I guess are there slow land speed (made up for underwater) and lack of dexterity. So perhaps some kind of underwater charger.

Merfolk for that one?

Just wanted to say I've been playing the Spellsniffer in a game and I'm loving it. I do believe I've managed to convince people I'm a divine spellcaster of some sort. Helps that the character is quite devote.

Shadow Lodge

Just going to bump this because, while it hadn't been active for a while, it still has a ton of awesome archetypes I want people to see and enjoy. ^-^
