Opinion: Do you want all four base power feats?

Ugh... I'm going to start a separate thread for that can of worms.

I am not of fan of having to take all the power feats before I get my role. Like many have said before, I prefer not having to increase my hand size so early on.

There are so many feats I want to get on the role card. Is it intended for us to eventually get all the powers in a chosen role? (I haven't played non PFS_ACG RotRL or S&S to completion).

As linked in the other thread Shade started, Mike confirmed in the past that scenario and adventure rewards are awarded simultaneously prior to rebuild.

Pluvia -- I hadn't even thought about not being able to rebuild with a new card feat using RAW. Like I said, definitely seemed the intent to have both at the same time.

Waltero -- No you will not get all the feats of a role. This is to make sure that everyone's characters can vary, even if you take the same character and role.

No, the designers want to leave room for individuality, so every Valeros doesn't end up looking the same, for instance. RotR characters have 12 power feats on their role cards and only receive 7 power feats in the AP. I believe the same holds true for S&S. For OP we don't know how many power feats we will be granted.

I've always looked at it the same way as when you gain a level in the RPG. If you want a feat that requires a skill of a certain level, you can get BOTH the same level.

IE: If a feat requires you to have 1 skill rank in acrobatics, at 3rd level you could put 1 skill point in acrobatics and automatically are qualified for the feat at that moment and can take the feat at 3rd level also.

And Andrew confirmed that I was right.

So, I'm back to being able to save my Olenjack from taking a 7 card hand size during Adventure 4 by saving 4C for last? And technically I could combine this tactic with not finishing off Adventure 3 before doing Adventure 4 with other characters to easily only need to take 2 power feats from the base card?

If this is allowed, then yes, it is a little wonky and may seem like gaming the system, but again, I personally don't see this as a big deal. It would bring in a special kind of customization that you don't typically have when playing the base game by the standard rules. And when I was going through all of the OP playable characters, there were very few that I'd actually want only two or less power feats from their base card.

I don't want them all for Amaryllis. Notably, that Light Armor proficiency (with no Armor cards in her deck) looks extra pointless compared to the Role Powers.

Looking at other characters I might try playing, wanting three of the base Power Feats seems typical. For some I'd rather have two, but three isn't so bad. I don't feel too penalized by having all four in most cases, but it feels like a waste of a rare resource.

I think what I am mostly disappointed at is the lack of fun in all this. The group I am playing with was boiling with impatience at the idea of unlocking role card at the end of adventure 3 (which by the way is still mentioned as unlocked there on the official character sheet). Having every character being the same is just not very interesting and kinds of ruins character building/customization.

As someone said previously, if you play scenarios in an optimized order you do not encounter this issue. However, because we want to follow the story, we have decided to allow players to store power feats when they gain it so that they can use it later. We know it is against the rules. It might also mean that we will become overpower. But, being forced to select power feats we do not want or losing the point is just not fun and we are here to have a laugh...

Triiz, keep in mind that this is Season 0. The kinks are being worked out. Paizo wants to hear feedback on how they can improve OP next season, not have people say "I don't like the way you did OP, so I'm going to house rule it". One of the biggest things of OP is that everyone plays the same game. Encourage them to fix the problem, don't work around it yourself.

Despite a few issues here and there I have been enjoying OP (the scenario designs are great). Now, to be honest I see this one as a major flaw. I certainly hope having to select all your basic powers before being able select a role is NOT by design. I understand that PACG is not an RPG but I would like to see more customization available rather than less. I basically feel I have no choice available for my character build and that takes away a lot of the fun. On top of that I am not sure why this came to be, the printable character sheets still mention one can select a role after adventure 3. Why suddenly push this at the end of adventure 4? This feels terribly disappointing and getting those power feats will not feel as rewarding as it should be.

As a group we will likely talk about this again (only 3 of us have discussed this), and eventually I will agree with the group majority as I don't want to be a spoil sport.

Obviously it is a sore spot with quite a few of us. Hopefully there'll be some changes coming along/rulings that will help guide us.

I fiiiiiixed it.

Is very niiice.

So now officially, even when all scenarios are done in order, you can take your third power feat after gaining your role. Nice indeed!

yay, you fixed it!

Now to change my profile to reflect that.
