While not specifically named, the horsemen of Revelation could be said to have distinct roles.
The first, on a white horse, is described as a Conqueror.
The second, on a red horse, as a Warmonger.
The third, on a black horse, as a proclaimer of Scarcity and Famine.
And of course the fourth, on a pale horse, specifically identified as Death, with Hades riding alongside.

actually, there is a technical fifth horseman, due to a mistranslation.
pestilence wasn't ever a horseman, there was a white horseman called conquest.
somewhere, somehow someone added pestilence, replacing conquest completely and everybody forgot about him.
You can thank my absurdly religous bordering on fanatic mother for that one.

We have War, Death, Conquest/Pestilence, and Famine.
What would you posit for a 5th Horseman?
Misinformation. In all its forms, including (but by no means limited to) typing errors & malapropisms; incorrect Wikipedia pages; news stories which have more basis in 'we want something which will grab people's attention' than in actual fact; speeches or other public declarations by most extremists; and 'faked' you-tube clips (or at least the ones which are not clearly identified as such and posted solely for entertainment purposes).

Baba Yaga in both Reign of Winter and real world mythology, was attended to by a white, a red, and a black rider. Does anyone have any historical context as to whether or not the first three horsemen referred to in Revelation are an appropriation of her horsemen from legend?

This one actually makes me think a bit. Which hurt. Thanks a lot ;)

From everything I can find, there's no connection. Baba Yaga's riders represent Day, Sunset, and Night, wheras the Horsemen of Revelation represent forces of power, destruction, and fear. Searching for a connection between the two finds nothing other than a passing reference to their similarities in colors and an equivalency between Baba Yaga and Death that makes no mention of her riders while mentioning the Four Horsemen in a separate section of the context.

The Xenosaga game series made a few mentions of the Horsemen: 4 colors (Black, Red, White, Yellow... < something Freudian/Jung'ian), 4 seasons, 4 time of day (Night, Morning, Day/Afternoon and Evening), of the four characters refered to, we never learn which one is which Horseman.

Funny enough, that's the only part of the Xeno- game series I'm unfamiliar with. I've played through Xenogears several times and I own Xenoblade (though I haven't been able to play it yet as I don't own a Wii) and have watched a couple playthroughs.

A lot of damage and harm can be caused by people being incorrectly informed...
Happy to have posted something even mildly thought-provoking. :)
