Is there a fast way to get staff recipes?

Well is there? Are some creatures more likely to drop em? I kinda wanted my crafter to specialize in staffs so any help would be great!

Trade is the best bet.

There is a large exchange of recipes happening right now. We had earlier multiple people meeting at Emerald Lodge.

Indeed, the fastest way is trade. What particular recipes are you looking for? Throrin Axehammer might pay you a visit if there was some mutual benefit for us both. He's a "you need it, I'll find" it sort of dwarf.

any staff recipes any teir tell me where and when and ill come with all my silver and duplicate recipes.

Both Keepers and TEO are trading recipes. First point of call at Keeper's Pass for inter settlement trade stuff is Carbon.

I put in a query on the KotC forums for anyone wishing to sell/trade staff recipes with an offer to provide transport (I'd do the same for any TEO folks interested, since Throrin is in Keeper's Pass). Location really is dependent on where you are. If you are up in the NW, we might meet at Emerald Lodge, whereas if you are in the east perhaps Thornkeep or Kindleburn. And of course, you might just want to head down to Keeper's Pass anyway and see what all you can find. The Auction House is not stocked out, given how hard it is to use, but folks are generally around to trade directly. If you do plan on coming down, post a target time here and we can see about ensuring someone is online at that time.

Kill stuff faster?

14:00 pacific time I will be in keepers pass

Goblin Squad Member

Logging in to check in. I have identified at least one seller, but I'm not certain if the timing will work to coordinate the exchange. If we miss that window, I can transport the recipes to another location once I get with him.

I was told that Coal was needed, but when I got there, higher prices were being paid for Pine, and higher still for pelts (seems any pelts), and even more for Moon stone.

Is there a posting of interest in SE and what is offered.

Meeting at Emerald Spire would be more comment than the hour to get to Keepers. But then I don't get the big haul of Moonstone or Greenweed. 8-)

I sent Gyrin Aldebaran to trade in Keepers Pass He is there now

You can always PM me with anything you have for trade--I'll likely take it! I'm also happy to meet in Emerald Lodge, as I go through there regularly on my trips.

And, confirmed the recipe seller is in town right now for you, Pyronous...

I should also note, for anyone looking to trade with the Keepers of the Circle/Keeper's Pass, you can always PM me, or check my standing Diplomats and Merchants thread.

Quoted in hopes of prompting a statement from GW.

The longer the Auction Houses remain hard to use, the lower the chances become that players will switch to them when they get fixed.

I agree it needs to be searchable and set to only show avalable items

As soon as Buy Orders are on the Auction House, they will explode with activity.

I'm sure Buy Orders will help, but I suspect that GW might be able to extend the duration of auctions sooner than they can hide the empty fields or add buy orders. Not having to renew auctions every other day would reduce the number of empty fields seen by shoppers, and make life easier for sellers.

I'd really like to see 7 day auctions. I think a week is long enough to make a traveling merchant's life manageable, but short enough to avoid the 'Wal-Mart Effect' that Savage Grace predicted as a side effect of 10 day auctions (inter-settlement conglomerates overwhelming local sellers, and conglomerate mega-caravans being invincible against bandits).

2 days auctions still provide 250% more PFOcontent possible encounters than 7 day auctions.

Weighed, of course, against the risk of traveling merchants not making the trip at all if it is too inconvenient.

It's a tough call, and predicting player behavior is a fool's game.

We should just beware of all facets of it, and perhaps even if we try one thing, make it clear that it is a "trial" and could change again.

----

Hell, if the A.H. actually worked well, I'd want to try 12 hour auctions to see if there are even more encounters.

I'm willing to try 7 or even 10 days for 2 weeks if you'll try 12 hour auctions for 2 weeks.

And heck, I may like YOURS better. Trial and error.

In the end, I guess we'll both be trying whatever the folks at GW decide to do.

Given a "show only categories with something for sale" filter, and people actually using the AH routinely at 2 days or 7 days, I'd be willing to try 12 hour auctions for a couple of weeks.

People are going to trade regardless. You'll have someone to attack whether they're traveling to list things on an AH or to attend a face-to-face "farmer's market".

What I'm seeing very consistently is people saying "the AH interface is so bad, my settlement-mates and I aren't using it." I've also seen people calling coin worthless, and one person saying that they just throw it away. None of this means people aren't trading, but it does mean that GW isn't getting the kind of market data they could collect from a functional AH.

Bottom line - I'm not trying to make it easy for merchants to avoid being PFOcontent, I'm trying to get the AHs fixed enough so that people will use them, before everyone gets established in a barter and direct trade economy. If we go too long with non-useful AHs, they might never reach their full potential against the inertia of an entrenched barter/direct trade system.

Note: This being only Week 2, I'm probably also overreacting.

It is already too much of a hassle to keep visiting an AH that isn't in your own settlement every 2 days to repost. 12 hours would just kill that altogether. 7 days is good because you aren't forced to keep running back and forth but if you do make the trip before the 7 days is up you can tweak your prices based on what else is being sold. There is no price tweaking if nothing is sold like now because of the massive travel inconvenience.

It's pretty simple. If you want the auction houses stocked you need to give us the time to keep them stocked.

Goblin Squad Member

If they change it to 7 days now is it ok if they change it back later?

Goblin Squad Member

I'm pretty fine with 2 days in the AH, I tries to make my round in 2-3-4 days something and a couple of days of stuff sitting in the vault isn't a biggie, BUT the lack of useful filter is a hellish pain in .. Eh... Now I tries to have one of the raws I Looks for because if you mark it in the inventory tab it filters to that in the sale tab.

But finding rec's and objects or stuff I dont have ... Pffffff ...

And as bartering is way more useful it is quite easy to chose between another pelt or 30 coppers when I want to reduce encumbrance as running is a bit essential for me!

Goblin Squad Member

2 days AH is absolutely pointless to those of us who can not log in every day to play. 7 days is reasonable.

Add my voice (again) those avoiding the AH like a plague. When a system is more work than fun it is not a good use of my limited playing time.
