I wonder if they are a reference to the Talaria? How popular was Greek mythology in 1939, and the character creators? Namor IS Roman spelled backwards - and the similarities between Greek and Roman myths are such that many people think of them as the exact same thing.
Ooh, interesting thought. Comic book Atlanteans, both Aquaman and Namor, tend to be associated with Greco-Roman gods like Poseidon/Neptune, as well (or at least swear by them, in Namor's case...). (The Image-verse version of the Sub-Mariner was straight up named Roman!)
Bouncing back towards the thread topic of Agent Carter, hopefully we won't be seeing the last of period-set Marvel tales, whether they be early tales of the Invaders, or the earlier adventures of Hank and Janet Pym, or pre-SHIELD activities of Natasha or other Red Room operatives (ooh, a movie in which Black Widow is a straight up villain / assassin, and only at the end meets Hawkeye and gets recruited into SHIELD? That could be a twist, having the 'hero' be the bad-guy through 99% of the movie!).

That's not what Quesada said at all. Note the part about not being able to speak for the studios.

Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter stated in May 2014 that Marvel now has the rights for Namor. On June 3, 2014, Kit confirmed that Marvel, not Universal now has the Namor film rights. On July 18, 2014, Feige told IGN in an interview that the Namor film rights are not with Universal or Legendary Pictures, but he explained there are a number of contracts and deals that need to be sorted out.
Answering legal questions like these are a minefield for non-lawyers.

Next season on Agents of SHIELD they should have Fitz Simmons find a "time radio" that Howard invented, allowing the current team to work a case with the Peggy/Howard/Jarvis team.
I'd settle for an expanded version of what they did in the first season, when they had Peggy and the Howling Commandos capture the Terrigen Crystal containing Obelisk, only to cut to present day when the Obelisk pops up again. But, like I said, expand on it. Have an entire episode of Peggy and Co. dealing with some "thing". Then the next episode it's Coulson and Co.'s turn.
Alternatively, you could have a parallel past-present story dealing with Leviathan. Peggy and fellows battle Leviathan in the past, while SHIELD battles a resurgent Leviathan in the present.
I'm not sure if they want to make Coulson and Co. look bad on their own show by showing how much better Peggy is than them.

If they can get the Agent Carter actors for an episode or multiple episodes (or the whole series as far as I'm concerned) that would be great.
The thinking with a "time radio" plot is that it would allow them to easily work around the availability of those actors and their new shows/films by allowing them to be involved via voice work (which could literally be phoned in if necessary).

Considering that there's a remake TV show of the movie Frequency coming this season, I think that doing a time radio plot would feel a bit like copying.

A friend of mine got to meet her at the Dallas Comic Expo (or whatever it was called) a couple of weeks back and she said her people were in talks with another network about the possibility of picking up "Agent Carter" as a series. And the hoopla about her opinion on Cap kissing her niece was just that, hoopla. She laughed about it during the Q&A session. The media made it seem like she was really upset about it, when she thought it was actually kinda funny.

Ohhhhh Frequency was FUN!
Sometimes a tv show can do more with a concept then a 2hour movie can... and it has potential. I really liked Limitless too.
Admittedly, now I hear about Rush Hour and Lethal Weapon getting series and they REALLy have gone too far.
Still it's a case by case thing for me.
Maybe but after seeing those two you mentioned, I'm not hopeful about the others, Phantom.

But for anyone who enjoys Agent Carter AND quality makeup, Besame Cosmetics released an Agent Carter makeup line last month.
They've already sold out of the triple-lipstick set in the case with the secret compartment, but I think the compact and the eyeshadow palette disguised as a passport (yes I am saying things in complete seriousness) are still in stock, and they are going to be restocking the Sweet Dreams lipstick later (which is their 1946 Red Velvet color repackaged). I only wear makeup about twice a year but I picked up the eye shadow as I needed new eye shadow and loved the packaging and seems like good stuff.
I realize this is a rather niche sort of bit of merchandising but hey, you never know.
Sounds great. I heartily approve of people using things that showcase their love of all things Agent Carter.

It's not a girls-only product. :) I recognize you may not want to wear makeup, but nothing's stopping you except yourself if you change your mind. :)

What's even more infuriating is the network told Hayley Atwell she could do both shows since they would be on different filming schedules (since Agent Carter played in the gap while Agents of SHIELD was on hiatus, whereas Conviction was on a more typical season schedule). So they flat out lied.
I really think ABC just didn't want to make Agent Carter, and thought they could soften the blow by putting her in something else. They hoped they could keep the die-hard Agent Carter audience while drawing in a larger mainstream audience; this backfired fantastically has a huge portion of the Agent Carter actively boycotted Conviction out of resentment for the show's cancellation, and the mainstream was tired of legal procedurals by the time it aired.
Given the second season was plagued with numerous scheduling issues, forcing several episodes to be doubled up (confusing many viewers, including professional recappers), the conspiracy theorist in me wants to say ABC was out to get Agent Carter cancelled from the get-go. While the second season wasn't as good as the first, it was still better than most television on, but it lost a good portion of viewers simply because people couldn't figure out what was going on with the scheduling. They also did almost no marketing for it--I know many people who loved the first season and were waiting for news of the second and never realized it had aired until the season was halfway through or finished. Marvel marketed it, but ABC did not.
Either ABC found it too costly to make (short series even though that it was)--period pieces alone are expensive to make, let alone pulp superhero period pieces--or the "brass" as you say just didn't like it and felt it didn't fit the image they wanted to sell, whatever the hell that means.
That they thought Conviction would be a better seller is sad--and even though it was a more mainstream genre, it got even worse ratings than Agent Carter by the end. I watched it out of loyalty to Hayley--I wanted HER to succeed, even if I wasn't keen on what was going on. I like legal and crime procedurals. Conviction was just generally awful. It couldn't decide what it wanted to be--political drama and legal procedural elements battled with each other and felt like two entirely separate shows smashed together. Moreover, the "couple" anchoring the show (Hayley's character and her boss/nemesis) was just creepy as f~%$--the so-called love interest dude had total power over Atwell's character, beginning the show by forcing her into her job through blackmail (her choice was take the job or go to jail), and was her boss, so completely controlled her. Personal tension or no tension, the whole relationship smacked of serious sexual harassment and endless manipulation. It was about as sexy as a wet sock. Yet, the show was actually trying to sell this cringy af power-play as an actual romance. It didn't help that if you replaced the actor that played the love interest with a cardboard cutout, Atwell might have had more chemistry with it. Which is saying something because Atwell has chemistry with nearly everyone she comes into contact with, but somehow not this wooden block of a non-actor.
(Now if they had cast Bridget Regan as the nemesis.... )
What's sad is Hayley of course was still good in it (even with her slightly dodgy American accent), and the actual legal procedural bits were sometimes pretty interesting, but 75% of the rest of the show was utter filth. I'm sure Conviction was far cheaper to make, but given how awful it was and how badly reviewed it was, I doubt it made ABC much money to speak of.
And as expensive as Agent Carter might be, it sure has hell had far more merchandising potential which ABC failed to bank on. What Agent Carter merchandise there is seems to sell very well. I can only pray it all goes to the product designers and Marvel, and that ABC doesn't see one red cent.
And speaking of merchandise, my eyeshadow came (shipping was fast and free!). Bonus: it came with a cool SSR logo pin with the name of the collection on it, and a "newspaper" describing the line as well as various facts about Agent Carter and was designed to look like a spy had scribbled secret codes all over it. They have taken the theming *very* seriously. Haven't tried the makeup yet but it looks quality and the palette is nicely made.
Be careful with the lipstick. I hear it's a real knockout!
The producers from the show sent the lipstick set to Hayley Atwell and Bridget Regan (and hopefully other folks from the show as well). Bridget Regan's comment on Instragram was "I sniffed it and I approve." (Referencing this moment).

Long and the short of it is that Networks sell Ad Space, not TV show. They don't really care if a show is good as long as the advertisers think they can reach a lot of people buying the ad spots during it.

Sure. But if you mess with a show's schedule so that no one knows when it's on, advertisers won't buy in either, because they want guaranteed viewership. Networks want to sell ads, but they have also been known to sabotage their own programming when new leadership takes over and wants to go in a different direction.
Likewise if you make a show that's just a clusterf~$! of mainstream genres and ergo has scattered appeal and bad reviews, many advertisers don't know what audience to target and won't buy in. Given they never even ordered the back 9 for Conviction, I doubt it was getting any ad revenue to speak of.
I think ABC thinks that unless it's outselling Netflix, it's not worthy of their time. Or something. That or the net execs think we're still in 1998.

As I said earlier, a truly legit concern may have been the show was relatively expensive. Period piece + comic-book sci-fi = costly. But the way they went about it was just nonsensical.
IIRC there was a new network executive (who is related to an actor who was a costar in Conviction, interestingly enough) at the time. It could also be that, given Marvel's Most Wanted also wasn't picked up (when the expectation was it would be greenlit, and they were so confident about that they fully wrote out Mockingbird and Lance out of AOS), the new guy just didn't want to work with Marvel for whatever reason. Come to think of it, that's also when AOS got shunted to Friday nights.
(Also bummed about Marvel's Most Wanted not getting picked up. I really like Adrienne Palicki and she's had hella bad luck with TV shows, and I particularly liked her as Bobbi. I think now she's involved in other projects so we're probably not going to see her back in the MCU any time soon. :( )

I really like Adrienne Palicki and she's had hella bad luck with TV shows, and I particularly liked her as Bobbi. I think now she's involved in other projects so we're probably not going to see her back in the MCU any time soon. :( )
She's on The Orville, but that show for some reason skipping 2018 and season 2 won't begin until early in 2019 (from what I have read). Dunno what else she's involved with.
And hey, we never expected to see Hunter again either...
