Goodbye PbP, For Now Atleast

Online Campaigns General Discussion

Things in my life have suddenly gotten a lot more hectic. It is a million little things. Thus it is with a heavy heart that I must leave the PbP world. I hope to come back when things calm down. So goodbeye, till we meet again and I can return.

Really sorry to see you go Nohwear, but I was wondering when you would need a break. You're part of so many campaigns on these boards that I'm not really surprised that you need to step away for awhile. Hope to see you return to the boards soon.

I have to say, this confuses me a little. I've never played play by post, but isn't it usually a minimum of 1 post per day?

If I had to walk away from one post per day because things had gotten too busy, I would be re-evaluating everything else!

He is GMing like 10 games on the boards. Gming is a little more involved. It sucks because its another example of a GM who started games and then abandoned them mid stride. Its why I always caution new GMs from starting AP's....start small and see what your time constraints are.

okay, now that he left, people are going to have to taken over his DMed games, otherwise there will be a lot of people left hanging.

I'd echo your sentiment, although, in my case, it was creative energy constraints, rather than time.

I didn't appreciate how much creative thought would be involved in DMing PBP - I started running four games confident I could make the time commitment. It didn't take long to burn out though. (Which I still feel guilty for!)

Starting much smaller this time around. :)

I disagree. While having the games come to an end is very disappointing, making a clean break is much better than just up and leaving, so at least the players can stop without hurt feelings.

Yep. Both as a GM and a player, I feel that letting the other players and/or GM know is good form. It doesn't leave terrible feelings (although the loss of a game kind of stinks), but I'd rather know than suddenly have someone drop out with no warning whatsoever.
