On a dc 5 you while with a running start jump 5 feet. My question is, do I just travel 5 feet, or do I cross 5 feet and land in the 10 foot square?

You cross a 5 foot space. You would still use 10 feet of movement though.
You land in the 10 foot square, otherwise it would be same as taking a 5 foot step
Well, no it wouldn't be the same as a 5 ft step, but this does make sense to me that you pass over 5 ft (traveling 10).
