You've managed to anger a powerful wizard who was slumming on earth in one of your favorite stores. As punishment he's transformed you into another race/sex and/or alignment. Which would you prefer a concious change or a subconcious one.
To give you idea of what I mean a concious change is where your aware of your changed attitudes, know they aren't what you used to feel but at the same time they feel right. For example if your turned from a guy into a girl and you liked girls before you now like guys. You know you used to like girls but they're bodies do absolutely nothing for you now a strong, fit mans body on the other hand does and when you try to fantasize your picturing men not women. If your turned from a human into a dragon you'll be aware that your looking at a 20 ton lizard in the mirror but it feels right whereas the thought of going back to a fleshy, tiny human makes you feel physically ill even if it didn't used to. If your turned from chatic good to chatic evil you know the sight of random passerby's didn't used to give you an urge to see how hard it would be to rip off an arm and beat them to death with it but you really, really want to feel their hot blood on you and hear their screams.
A subconcious change is where your not even aware your attitudes have changed. To use the above examples a straight guy turned straight girl when at a club, your checking out the men not the women and it never even crosses your mind that last night you were looking at the girls. If someone asked who your first crush was on you'd mention a guy you knew growing up rather than the girl it was originally. If your turned into a dragon you'd just walk down the street and ran into your best friend who screamed and ran away you'd either run after them to get away from whatever terrifed them so much or turn around to fight it, it would never cross your mind that it was you they were scared of. If your alignment changes you'd just act as you would normally i.e. you might become a serial killer because it just feels so right and good not to be one of the sheeple.
Conscious.
That way I know why I'm exacting terrifyingly elaborate revenge upon the wizard.

Conscious, that way I can know that the Wizard changed me in a way that literally only makes my life different rather than bad. Just because something feels right doesn't mean I'm going to do it, having self-control is important. Unless he made it so I was not white or male then I would be in trouble and probably couldn't go out at night anymore(I live in the U.S. so being a white male is especially helpful here)
Conscious. Knowledge is power, and if I'm aware that my attitudes have been tampered with, I can choose to act the way normally would, no matter how "wrong" it feels.

The Sohei monk catches the surprise round and kills the wizard in it. and then turns the wizard into chopped liver.
Alternatively abiding the question conscious.
The girdle of gender changing exists. Remove curse exists. I can ALWAYS get this removed even if the gods did it to me. Who knows it might be interesting to flip flop for a week then be like "Nah I'll switch back."
I highly doubt your a Sohei monk. This is you as in the person sitting typing at a computer. This is the first proof of magic you've probably ever seen so no remove curse (not that that would work as this isn't ongoing its an intantaneous change).
