My eldest son choosing a Greatsword wielding Fighter (18 Str) to compliment my Battle Cleric of Gorum (18 Str).... sweet... a total of 4d6+12 per round if we both hit. Carnage, blood, headless corpses, hacked limbs all over the place :D

We eventually started holding our actions to let the other players kill things as well

So, 3-4 years ago my younger brother got my kids a pair of Air Hogs helicopters for Christmas. Needless to say, the entirety of their lifespan was, "Oooh! It's ready?" <Turns throttle full on... watches helicopter skyrocket into ceiling and rotors shatter...> "Oops!"
The replacement rotors weren't the correct kind for the helicopter (quelle surprise!), and calling Air Hogs for the "correct" rotors yielded yet another set of wrong rotors.
I'm the sort who won't throw good money after bad, so I called it a wash.

So this morning I was a bit horrified that this time my older brother had bought my kids a pair of Air Hogs helicopters. What did I do to deserve such punishment? Did he even understand how hard I'd worked to secretly discard the first pair without the kids finding out?

This time I was *very* careful. I wouldn't let my older son touch the controller until I had adjusted it to a near-perfect hover. He picked up the controller. *WHAM!* Into the wall. The boxes said the helicopters were "impact resistant", and I have to say, the Air Hogs at least lived up to that claim. So I was taking bets with my in-laws as to how long this year's Air Hogs would last. My bet was 1 minute. My stepfather-in-law's bet was 2 minutes.

Unfortunately, Impus Major decided to take it outside.

Yep, on the roof it went! But it didn't break, and lasted a good 3 minutes.

Fortunately, at 13, Impus Major is old enough I sent him up to get his own darned helicopter!

We're 10 minutes in and both are still intact!

Color me impressed! Good job, Air Hogs!

Ha! we almost fell into the Air Hog Trap this year:)
we got them Thunder Tumblers instead, they've been crashing them all day, my ankles aren't going to feel very good in the morning:) totally worth it tho they've been having a blast!

this year my extended family celebrate together Saturday instead, and my wife's family don't invite us over anymore (they don't like where my wife works, a bit too "Square" for their "outlaw*" sensibilities)

*its all an act.

Oh, Impus Major's is still running, several hours in!

Of course, Impus Minor decided to see how high he could fly his. Outdoors. At night.

We're hoping we might find it in the morning...

So did you find the Helicopter?
This morning i found out how the kids kept their batteries going in the R/C vehicles for so long yesterday, the batteries are missing from the Xbox controllers and remotes:p

Since you asked, yes, *I* found it, as *I* chose to look in the exact *opposite* direction Impus Minor said he'd heard it and found it lying, intact, in our own yard.

Perception is an imperfect skill. People don't learn that 'til theirs starts going.

Kids make a decision based on their perception and adamantly stick to it without any regard for evidence to the contrary. <Insert favorite comparison to your favored political/religious group here>.

I am grateful to my parents for reacting with moderation when I, as a small child, decided to fix the rust spot on the side of our blue truck by spraying it with the canister in the basement that said "fights rust" on it.

The canister in question was yellow spray paint.

I've run into the same thing with mine:) she hardly even looks then declares whatever it is as lost forever! of course i find it almost immediately:)

Alas Tiny T-Rex is running a fever, probably has been for a few days, he's a tough lil guy, so sometimes its hard to piece together until you start to think back on it after you find out:(

He is also the most professional i've ever seen at taking medicine, just hand it to him, down it goes, no battle, no bribes, just super professional, he also lets you know when he's feeling nausea come on by saying "I'm Not going to throw up now!" (emphasis is placed by him Lol)
Tiny T-Rex's are big big fans of Positive Thinking overcoming nausea:)

Edit: Lol! Our son is Calvin from Calvin & Hobbes funny stuff!
(he is also a gigantic fan of space ships, laser guns and giant robots, and has a stuffed tiger named Lion Dog) i wonder if the guy that did the cartoon strip will sue us:D
