As for Crane Wing, I would have preferred a +4 bonus to AC which could be applied retroactively when you got hit, but maybe the situation where the DM hits a PC and then the player says, "Oh no you didn't!" was something Paizo was trying to avoid. I know that a DM yesterday (non-PFS) didn't seem to like it a lot when he'd attack and roll high enough to hit a character's normal AC but then miss because the player would have her PC react to being attacked by making a DC15 Ride check to take cover behind the mount. That's in a mythic game where I'm already pulling some "Oh no you didn't!" with a mythic power which works a lot like the original Crane Wing. Of course as mythic PCs we're facing mythic challenges, but the auto-block feature still seems very strong.
Using strings or rulers seems easier than redrawing the map grid.
If you don't see any of these as a problem, more power to you.
Sometimes i wish they just leave crane wing alone, its better to forget this nerf existed, it has pissed so many people, the only thing this nerf did is that more people picked power attack barbs instead of style monks.

The biggest problem here is an errata was made for something that's a PFS problem, but it didn't have to be. They could have just banned Crane Wing in PFS, and we'd all be done with it. They've banned (non broken) things from PFS before just on flavor, such as Vivisectionist, which I don't care for since Vivi is such a different playstyle, but it's their call. And banning it in PFS is fine, leaves it just the same in non PFS play for anyone who wants to have fun with a murder monster.

CW's errata was effectively banning it, but it also banned it in home games, especially since the old text of the feat is nowhere to be found online, which is a resource a lot of players use to make their characters.

I completely agree that it should have just been left as was, that this should have just been "we've fixed diagonals!" and be done with it. I doubt anyone would be happy with a new crane wing (me personally, I'd have given a 50% miss chance to 1 melee attack), and it leaves this new rule feeling as a "told ya we'd do something!" instead of feeling like a more genuine effort. And using a mechanic that as already ditched (3.5 Dodge) is just confusing since again, the way PF has been going, it seems like they'd want to stay away from evoking memories of mechanics that they replaced.

At least we have pummeling charge now, which makes sure the offense > defense paradigm is maintained.
ElementalXX wrote:It's been 1 month and crane riposte has not been addressed after this new faq.
