Mobile Summoning Platform

Advice

I'm going to be playing a diabolist here in the coming week. Currently looking at a Wizard 10/Diabolist 2 (scrollmaster - I use a lot of scrolls on my wizards. A lot.) I am looking into making something of a mobile summoning platform using a manual reset trap that casts Magic Circle Against Evil, focused inward, with a Dimensional Anchor to follow it up. If I provide the spells for the trap, and I'm correct (feel free to double check), the cost of this trap would be 6,000 (Cost is 1,000 x CR. CR = -1 (perception DC is 15 or lower) +3 (disable device DC is 30 or higher) +4 (highest level spell effect is dimensional anchor) for a total of CR 6.

Assuming that is all correct, I want to use this manual reset trap as my summoning circle for my planar binding. The issue is, how do I get the trap to move around with me? I thought about a demi-plane (and I might do that later) but right now I can't cast level 7 spells. Any other ways to get this done?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can trap an item just as well as a piece of terrain. Especially true for chests? A chest might not be the most convenient to carry around, but still more portable than a stone floor

Guessing you want to cut on time for summoning...but quite frankly its not worth the time and effort. Even if you do manage to have a mobile summoning platform, you still have to go through the bargaining with outsider process(Some of them likes some sacrifice to sweeten the deal), which depending on your DM could take many hours or even days. At level 10 of diabolist tho, you do get the ability of bargaining with outsiders as a move + standard action.

Just have a demiplane later with your summoning circle ready.

The obvious way to carry something like that around is a Floating Disk. You should be high enough level to cast it ...

Depending on how you build your PC you might likely have two imps to help you out, a familiar and a companion. If they're both good at UMD you could probably accomplish combos like this with just some wands or scrolls.

Remember that devils can see through Deeper Darkness and you should have a lot of fun. I'd also consider having a decent Stealth score so that enemies can't easily find you in the dark.

What about using a flying carpet? A wagon could also work assuming you or an ally has enough Handle Animal to keep the creatures pulling it from panicking when you summon.

I've talked with the GM a bit and he understands that this character will probably be summoning on a pretty much daily basis. Saving myself a level 4 and a level 3 spell every time I need to summon will actually be a huge life saver. Even if I make scrolls of dimensional anchor and magic circle, it's 537.5 gold per pop.

Could I put the trap on a small item like a ring or a small chest and simply have it cast the spell when activated?

The flying carpet might actually work, I'll look into those. I don't really want to do a wagon because that usually means summoning outside and if a straw of hey falls over the edge of the circle it's broken.

Grand Lodge

Wall of force added in to stop things from messing from the circle. Could do it in a windstorm if you had to that way.

I would also suggest doing it on your personal demiplane. Since you can eject people from your demiplane if things turn sour. Standard Action to eject, will to negate.

The problem with the demiplane is that the character is level 12 and gains demiplane at level 13 potentially. The game world is fairly wild and due to circumstances finding a person who can craft that trap will be very difficult. It's possible I won't be able to find somebody at all post character creation.

There's also the standard rules for wondrous item pricing and creation with a simple item or two capable of casting each spell 1/day, though im not sure if its any different from making a trap doing so. If you flimg some more gold imto it you can write the creation of that trinket into character backstory with mention of retraining the crafting feats required after the deed is done. Just add tye retraining cost to the crafting cost to be fair and there you go
