(Though a priestess of Calistria is helping me out on that score) :-)
I hail from the land of Shakespeare (England) and it's often said our humour is subtle and ribald. Most of my American friends feel it's just weird. It's said that British comedians have a hard time with American audiences, though to be fair, I think any non-native comedian is going to struggle with a native audience who are not their own. I find the diversity in humour wonderful, personally, and enrichening.
Which is why the Staff of Lordly Might reduces my gaming group to a good 30 mins of double-entendres.Have fun voting!

Despite all the fun and excitement of the contest, I sincerely hope that this year becomes the last year I'm able to compete.
To quote a great "weepie"...
Ditto.

Was it Benny Hill or Monty Pyrhon that said it? Maybe those chicks from Absolutely Fabulous?

We would chuckle at this in our group too, because it's a "rod"
Now, real quick, how do you pronounce "lich" over there in The Isles? I've heard a tale of an American gamer playing at a British table where the differences in pronunciation on this word caused much hilarity to ensue during the gaming session.

So that's close to how the story went. Any chance that elsewhere it is more like "leak" or "leek?"
As the story goes an American gamer (referred to as a Yank when I first heard the story) was playing somewhat of a pickup game in England. There was a fountain of some sort, and in it was a "leak." So the Yank did what any little Dutch Boy would do and he stuck his finger in the "leak" to the astonishment of his travelling companions, and the DM (for this was well before Pathfinder. Imagine the player and character's surprise when the "leak" turned out to be a lich, which grabbed him and started draining the life out of him.
Anyways, that's the story as it was told to me by an itinerant Englishman who came to Virginia and played quite a bit of Living Greyhawk with us back in the day.

Well, I can't remember (no, seriously) - how many times I've entered. At least three. Probably four. But it gets so confusing, because I'm a university student, so there's forever exams during round 1 or this year even on the day of the deadline. So there's this one year where I know that I had this item almost written up for submission - but I'm fairly sure it didn't make it. Or did it? Well, what does that matter this year.
Also lich pronounced "lick" or rather "likh" makes so much sense, linguistically. Even if it would reduce most of the people I GM for to complete useless laughter for a few minutes.
I love how these boards can turn into dialect discussions. Seriously. Things like that are half the reason to spend time rambling along.
