movement

Rules Questions

I know for sure that when counting squares during movement that you can move diagonal evey other square at no extra cost to movement. It's been like this since 3.5, and I found it on the are a few weeks ago. But, I'm trying to find it now to show it to a GM and can't. Anyone known where I find this? Diagonal movement only address moving diagonally only.

The rule for diagonal movemnt is;
When measuring distance, the first diagonal counts as 1 square, the second counts as 2 squares, the third counts as 1, the fourth as 2, and so on.

I'm not sure what else you are talking about. Perhaps if you gave an example.

The example I gave is on the prd, and is worded almost exactly the same as I worded it, but I can't find it now.

Are you saying you believe that moving north, then northeast, then north, then northeast, only counts as 20 feet of movement? Because, that is incorrect. The second diagonal counts as 10 feet, so those 4 squares moved would cost you 25 feet of movement.

I think he is looking for the quote and is asking where it is. He understands the every other diagonal rule.

Sorry, that's incorrect. It's not just that the second contiguous diagonal square counts double, it's the second (and 4th, and 6th...) diagonal square entered during your movement that counts double, even if you have a non-diagonal move in between.

edit: removed unnecessary kerfluffle

OP the rule you are looking for is on pg 193 of the Core Rulebook:

Diagonals:
Diagonals: When measuring distance, the first diagonal
counts as 1 square, the second counts as 2 squares, the
third counts as 1, the fourth as 2, and so on.

Also Wheldrake, you might not have intended it, but your post came across as a little antagonistic. I'm fairly certain OP understands the rule just fine based on what he said since what he said means the exact same thing as your clarification. You may wish to reread his post since he gave an accurate, while abridged, description of the rule and was not incorrect, just less specific was all.

I was indeed misunderstanding. I thought you only had to count diagonals like that when moving diagonally square after square, which would be the same thing as moving diagonally every other square at normal cost count-wise.
