Sunday December 21st, at 5PM EST/2PM PST/10PM GMT - Rotters Hole population test! [Make it if you can!]

Due to the new optimizations from the last two patches, we would like to try a HUGE Endeavor, we want to get 100 accounts (more if we can) logged on at the same time on Sunday in Rotters Hole. This will be a population test just to see how hard we can stress the server, so we ask everyone to try and make it for the betterment of the game. If you can't make it, just log your character(s) in ahead of time, and idle in Rotters Hole near the Shrine of Pharasma.

If we meet and exceed 100 accounts, please move excess accounts to the center of hex directly south of Rotters Hole.

Thank you all for your help and support!

Running a non-exp gaining alt over to RH and leaving it there is the best approach. (Likewise for our sister event, Saturday December 20th, at 5PM EST / 2PM PST / 10PM GMT - Brighthaven population test! [Make it if you can!].) (Yes, stolen like an artist from Cheatle's event.)

I hope people don't actually think that.

Second, we should probably be focusing on one time specifically, just to make sure we get everyone we need. Good Luck though.

ah yes, not everyone will think to check the time stamp :) yay for edits!

Sunday versus Saturday.

Goblin Squad Member

Yep, I understand.

Saturday Brighthaven in far far south and east.
Sunday Rotter's Hole in north and in west. Not quite far far north but very far west.

Then again east west is narrower than north south extent.

Going from Tavernhold to Brighthaven is a time-consuming trip, and that was before encumbrance.

I expect we will have different people showing up at both events in part for this reason and in part because of the different days.

Edit: The run from Thornkeep to Brighthaven is fairly easy. The run from Rathglen to Brighthaven is a beast.

If you are in Rathglen, you might want to settle for heading to Rotters. If you are in TK or points immediately north and south of there, Brighthaven is the place to go.

I've a main and two alts. Over the course of the week, it will be easy to run one to Rotters and park him, and run the other to the TEO event. The main can party wherever.

Time to Brighthaven from Thornkeep is about 25-30 minutes. Slot Water Domain as Goblin Shamans will be your main cause of damage and death.

If you come to Rotters Hole, expect PvP. If you are leaving a character logged in while not in attendance, unequip all of your gear. Commander Nefarious likes to drop by and kill AFK characters repeatedly.

Should we as part of the test clear the Moster hex south of it?

No. Just stand around in Rotters. If people want to organize and do something afterwards, that will be their purview.

Goblin Squad Member

After the stress test, Let's see if we CAN clear that Monster hex south of it

If folks want some stuff crafted for after the stress test, I can do it,
But I may need some resources to make them,
I'll be in Talonguard in a day, you'll need to place your order here and show up ASAP.

It'll be limited to T1 stuff, but I can make +X weapons and armour

Are we using Mumble or anything for this? Not sure how to communicate or coordinate with no global chat.

Help is global and would be permissible to use for this.

If someone has a Mumble or TS3 channel they are willing to offer up, though, all the merrier.

OV's mumble is always open

Now have an alt waiting in Rotters Hole. Was very lonely standing around there by myself yesterday. :-(

Will send another alt to Brighthaven this week for that test as well.

Worse than horses, these goats are....

I'll have you know my poo is highly prized as a fertilizer. And a lot cleaner than a horse's.

Goblin Squad Member

How often do you see horses leaving it lying about on the paizo forums?

Separate from the stress test, since we have a lot of people in the area, either before or after the test let's go kill Ustalavs. They're in the monster home hex (castle icon) 2 north of Rotter's.

When you die there, you rez in a different hex having lost two durability from everything equipped. That's a problem. I'm curious what happens mixing a lot of people and combat over there. Plus it should get us a lot of recipes the high end alpha crafters are looking for.

Anyone interested in that is before or after better for you? (No reason it can't be both, either)

P.S. there are level 21 NPCs there, and who doesn't want to see the fight where one of those goes down?

I killed a Ustalav General at lunch today. :)

Not sure what level but he was purple nanmed.

Pretty sure it's Level 14.

Goblin Squad Member

My Rotters alt has exactly 1000 XP ... not sure he will be much use against level 14 mobs.

Goblin Squad Member

Sspitfire, Hammar, and I took our 1,000 XP Characters there and were able to kill everything but the Legends (Level 21).

Was the strategy one person pulls while self healing while the other two use longbow exploit?

KarlBob starts painting "Nerf Long Bow! Buff Short Bow!" placards again, in preparation for the answer to this question. Then he remembers that it's still Alpha, and there are surely balancing passes to come once EE begins. He quietly puts down his pitchfork, snuffs his torch, and hides the placards under his bed, in case he needs them later.

Goblin Squad Member

Basic Longbow Exploit was definitely used. It was the only thing that would hit with any effectiveness. I was spamming Boiling Blood and doing about 7 points of damage per hit. Hammar was hitting the Exploit and doing about 100.

It's all about Precise ('bout Precise... 'bout Precise).

[threadjack]I can NEVER find anyone on Twitch streaming PFO. I really want to see the current stat eof the game live. Is anyone? [/threadjack]

Goblin Squad Member

The last time I tried to stream, it looked like crap. I think losing half of my 16GB RAM was the primary cause.

I'll see if I can get a stream running the next time we do something fun :)

Goblin Squad Member

'K thanks Nihimon. If I remember correctly you were the person I saw streaming the time there was someone....

Goblin Squad Member

I streamed quite a bit in the early Alpha. I stopped when I started spending more time standing around trying to figure things out than I did doing actiony stuff :)

If I can make it work on 8GB RAM, I'll try to get back in the habit.

Nihimon wrote:

I'm fairly confident we can take down a legend with 6 1K characters. It will totally involve lots of long bow exploits, though, and Master of Opportunity: Suffer.

Nihimon and I killed a Legend with our mains using T2 gear last night. We, uh, may or may not have used a certain other exploit to do the deed (although, to be fair, there was also a LOT of ping-pong'ing the thing back and forth between the two of us).

Anyone else starting to feel that prolonged Alpha is like a sump?

Get engaged. Train up your toons. Make trade deals that could lead to established contacts for EE. Learn ahead of time where the rough spots in ranking up are, whether crafting or combat feats...

Come crash a hex this weekend!

Goblin Squad Member

Agreed this is the best time to learn things, and connect with others.

Let's prepare for a raid after the stress test.

Ok, so given how well the test went at Brighthaven, we should do great in Rotters as well.

If you are in attendance, this will be a good opportunity to stress test your client. That, at least, is my plan.

See you all there! and bring stuff/characters you don't care about!

Goblin Squad Member

Agreed, hope to see everyone there.

Okay, so I haven't even logged into the game since Early Enrollment started. I guess I need to validate my three months before I can enter in? Or something?

Yes, you also need to send me the password to your main account so I can validate it for you.

Got it. Sending it now. Do you need my bank PIN or anything, too, so you can validate who bought the months?

'Cause it was actually a gift from Decius, but I can get you his bank info if it'll help.
