Wizard Thief Hybrid Class? Magus Archetype? Not Arcane Trickster

Advice

So I was wondering if there was a Magus Archetype that makes a Magus into a thief wizard instead of a fighter wizard?

This was one of my favorite multiclass character for both 2nd and 3rd ed.

Closest thing I can think of is the Spire Defender

I've been wanting an archetype a bit like this myself. I don't want the sneak attack and talents. Just a magus archetype that's a bit more sneaky. It's a shame the Spire Defender is elf only, as there isn't really anything similar available to all.

Pretty sure that's called a Bard...eh? Eh?

Everyone's a critic.

Spire Defender comes close enough, but it depends on how you're trying to make them into a Rogue like character. Most of the Magus's spells are pretty 'punchy', so the best way I can actually think to help them be more Rogue like would be to give them access to the Bard's spell list. It's more about what you're looking for (possibly a Bard with Spellstrike, which would be hype.)

Scarab Sages

Greensting Slayer magus has (limited) sneak attack and evasion, and several types of bard have rogue talents.

Scarab Sages

And if you don't care about spellstrike, Alchemist or Invistigator give you a lot of the feel of an arcane thief, just replace spells with extracts.

Liberty's Edge

It should be a new class, on the line of how Elder Scrolls had the Nightblade, but built like a magus. Instead of spell strike, it could have an ability that discharges a spell on a sneak attack. They would have custom arcanas that would be more suitable to what a rogue does. I am sure someone can come up with one in the custom area.

Ha! (I just replied to something similar in another thread.)

It isn't by Paizo, so you can't use it in PFS, but there is the spiderhawk archetype from Wayfinder #10 (free!).

I would like to see them do this class like they did with the Ninja Gun Slinger and Samurai.

I want sneak attack and spell casting and sneaky caster

Im sure I could do this with other things Just wanted to make sure I didnt miss something

Scarab Sages

Here is the Greensting Slayer. It seems like what you want, and can give a single class entry to Arcane Trickster to allow you to sneak attack without spending arcane pool points.

Bard.

Just make its spellcasting work like a Magus or Alchemist (spellbook + Int based).

I know how I can make it Im asking if Paizo has done anything and so far the Greensting is close but man thats brutal spend an arcane point to sneak attack

Yeah, Greensting Slayer is pretty crappy.

Aside from that, no I don't think there's an Arcane prepared caster class/archetype with Sneak Attack and other Rogue features.

There's the Investigator Class, a couple of Alchemist variants that do this to some degree, and some Bard Archetypes as well, the Seeker Sorcerer/Oracle archetype, plus an Inquisitor Archetype and a Warpriest Archetype...all of which seem cool and workable, but none of which seem to be quite what you're looking for.

Greensting is closest, but terrible. Spiderhawk is much better if it's a home game and the GM will let you use it.

I have been working on a homebrew class for this very purpose for a month or so because there just isn't a great way to pull it off with the current options. Spire Defender and Greensting Magus are as close as it gets.

The Archeologist Bard works a lot like a Sorcerer/Rogue, only focusing more on the skills aspect, and no sneak attack.

There isn't anything to give you the complete rogue package. You have to decide which pieces are your priorities.

Sandman Bard also isn't bad as far as rogue-like casters go; can even steal spells and everything (although, that ability is quite sucky, but it's better than nothing), and has SA.

Sorry to necro this thread but I think Magi get access to the Evasive Deed, They do get Evasion, Uncanny dodge, and Improved Uncanny so in this way they get some good stuff.
