Myrmidarch Magus + Focussed Shot

Rules Questions

I have a question regarding my tron-esque myrmidarch magus.

He fights throwing chakrams or piercing the hearts of his enemies with his rapier.
At 4th level he will learn to use spellstrike with his chakram due to the arguably subpar myrmidarch archetype.
I would really like to boost his potential with the chakram and my eye fell on the focussed shot feat.

Sadly i read it as not working with the ranged spellstrike class feature of the myrmidarch archetype due it using a standardaction.
Is that correct?

Correct. If you could hold the charge, you would be able to, but that is not a feature for ranged attacks.

That really is a shame, as it feels like one of the few things making such a build less horrible and giving any purpose to focussed shot at all.

Thanks for the clarification though.

Yeah, no, Focused Shot just sucks in general.

If you want a throwing Magus, though, that doesn't suck as bad as the Myrmidarch, have you considered the Card Caster? They're built to throw cards with the Deadly Dealer feat, but as a consequence, they get to use AN thrown weapon really well. Plus, they get to use melee OR ranged touch attacks with their thrown weapon.
