Rogue feat Compound question.

Pathfinder Online

How come when Compound is set up properly (green, opponents have Distressed) the damage listed is less than the damage when it is not set up? The difference being that with Bleeding 30 and Penetrating the listed damage is about 20 less.

Oh...but I did say Compound question...

Part two - War ponies. Great mount or greatest mount?

A war pony is a great mount, but probably not the greatest mount. There's a lot to be said for great Danes, wolfhounds, and of course deinonychus. The tactical advantages of riding a gecko up the wall and across the ceiling shouldn't be overlooked, either.

You'll want to spring for the Enhanced Saddle Harness (not included).

What critters did you test the before and after on?

Wolves, bandits, broken warriors, archers, captains, goblins, skeletons, pretty much everything in my area, Proxima.

The typical damage is (vs. ranged) 136/111, (vs. melee) 111/106, (vs captain types) 99/74.

I thought it might be a vs armor type issue, but it seems the same across all mobs.

At least it's a nice kind of broken. My strongest attack is cheap and automatic.

Why, I'm a regular one-button rogue. Yay.

In fact, when I do get my war pony, and they let us teach our mounts tricks, I'm just gonna teach mine one trick. Just one. So I can cantor into town, and show off his trick to everyone, and then I can truly say that I have a...

..wait for it...

war pony named Bob.

...what?

We tried to and couldn't reproduce this today. Due to Penetrating on Distressed, our experience was that the upper and lower bounds of an attack's results were correctly higher when the target was Distressed than when it wasn't. For example, we saw a high result of 52 on a particular target without Distressed, and a high result of 58 with it, which made sense for the armor values involved. In the same sequence, the lowest number we saw was lower for the attacks where the condition wasn't met.

Compound has a pretty big damage factor, which means that there can be a pretty big swing in damage based on margin of failure. So you may just be seeing the capricious god that is the Random Number Generator messing with you.

We should be getting more combat logging soon and we'll check it again when we can see all the numbers involved, but we didn't get the results you're suggesting on our end with today's test.

Thanks, Stephen, for checking on it. Could be I only really noticed when it hit the high and low ends of the spectrum and then that's what I started looking for(?). It seemed pretty constant, but that could very well be the longweed talking. I'll keep an eye on it as combat logs move into place.

Now, about those war ponies...
