ZOMG! Making sure that 2014 won't be like 1984!

Psst: Hey buddy! Wanna play Pathfinder Online on Macintosh?

This link will enable you to download the Beta Test of the Macintosh version of Pathfinder Online.

This version does not have a Patcher. The next update will. So you will need to manually uninstall this version and install the version with the Patcher in the future. But you can totally play the game on Mac today!

We have been testing this version internally for several weeks. So far, we've been very pleased. The performance of the Mac client is not as strong as the Windows client on identical hardware. If you have Bootcamped your Mac and have been playing in Windows, you will want to experiment with quality settings for the Mac client to find the best options for your particular hardware.

Since we have a limited ability to test this version internally we'll be very grateful to anyone who finds a problem and helps us troubleshoot. Please send such reports to customer.support@goblinworks.com and put "Mac Client" in the subject so we can work those problems quickly.

We have a lot of Mac enthusiasts here at Goblinworks and at Paizo including Lisa and myself. We are super happy to finally be able to get the Mac client into people's hands for testing. Please feel free to share tips & techniques here in this thread for other Mac users!

Fortunately, the download was only 2.3 gigabytes- yay for compression! The game is running fine on my super MacBook Pro with Retina and a whole lot of speedy good stuff.

*cheers!*

Some things I noticed right off:

The text is wobbly for bits, straight for others.

Also, when I used the full screen button, the screen dimensions were a little funky. Windowed, it has no problem matching the dimensions of my 15" screen, but full screen is a touch off. Moving my mouse up to the top of the screen brought the program bar down and allowed me to move back to windowed from full screen. Otherwise, the transition was smooth.

P.S. I was born in 1984 :)

I've posted an alert for our guilds mac users, there's going to be some excited people this weekend!

And I'm downloading as fast as I can. :D

It is possible have two clients open at once on a Mac. Ryan suggested I try copying the game into a second folder and opening it from there, as well as opening the one in the Applications folder. This requires you to have two copies of the game taking up 10 Gigs of space on the hard drive, though. It works, though!

Two things:

1. While trying to run the game on Fantastic, it froze up on me very quickly. I had to log in, quickly reset to Fast, and then reload the client one more time to get back to normal functionality.

2. I had an issue this morning where the log in screen was unresponsive. I noticed that the grey bar normally at the top of the screen in windowed view was missing, as though it were tucked under the menu bar. Entering Fullscreen via that "Window" tab on the menu bar, then leaving fullscreen again seemed to fix the issue. No idea what caused it.

I downloaded the client last night and found myself losing connection with the server within minutes of logging in. I have been checking it over the course of today and the period has dropped down to about 20 seconds before I get booted back to the login screen.

I'm away from my PC so I can't verify if its all on my end or if the mac client seems to be at fault.

Even with the client frustrations I'm still happy to see it available for testing. ;)

v13.0 seems to work fine for me - no connection issues, etc. - though I was hoping for better with the graphics setting... ;-) It'll get there.
