Do Sylphs have pointed ears?

The description of Sylphs say that they can pass for humans, but much of the artwork for Sylphs (for example, the female in Bestiary 2) show them with elf-like pointed ears.

So, which is it?

When in doubt, always go with the written description. If ankhegs looked like the thing pictured in the Bestiary, then I'd never use them. Art comes after the writing, and doesn't always match up with the text.

Sure.

They could have either.

Some trace their heritage from Marids, whilst others from Nereids, some from other water based creatures, but there is no one true line of heritage.

Why don't we just draw them with pointy ears for fun, but whenever you need them to "pass for human" in-game, just remind your GM that the text says they "pass for human?"

same bowl of pasta in the end.

Remember that Changelings are described as tall but they stand at 4'4"-4'10". Dwarves are still shorter but not by much.

Oops. I thought Undines.

Still, Air Mephits do have pointed ears, and djinn do not.

So, still the possibility of either.

Frankly, given the genetic smorgasbord in Golarion, pointed ears may not be enough of a tipoff to ruin a "pass for human" disguise.

But if you don't buy that, there's always the Star Trek IV method: wear a bathrobe and use the belt as a headband to cover up your ear tips. People will be too distracted by the bizarre attire to notice you're an alien--er, outsider.

been burnt alive in one plane you've probably been buried alive in another.

humans can legitimately have pointed ears, even on the sylph and half elf spectrum, just like you don't need to be a changeling to have heterochromia, most of the human blooded PC races have some exxagerrated but still biologically possible human trait.
