The Hunter Switch Hitter

Advice

Grand Lodge

So, I am making a Tengu Hunter and I am debating on my second level choice.

I get either Precise Shot or Outflank and I am not sure which I want to go for.

One one hand, Outflank is very powerful (+4 when flanking with pet/anyone else who takes it). This more then makes up for the 3/4 BaB for a few levels.

On the other hand, I can take precise shot without needing point blank shot. I can also take Outflank later as a bonus teamwork feat (level 6). I can not take Precise Shot later without expending 2 slots (Point Blank and Precise Shot)

This character is Dex based, with Weapon Finesse as the first level feat, Elven Curved Blade as main melee weapon, and a beak.

I can pick up an adaptive composite longbow to take advantage of the Animal Focus Bull, once I get a Dex belt. I am also looking at an Agile ECB, once the funds allow. Not advancing the beak if I do not need to.

This is also PFS, if that matters on your input.

I hate to be noncommittal, but I think it depends on how much you play. Going to use it got a while? Grab Precise Shot. If you want power fast as a switch hitter, pick up Outflank. Those items will take a while to get, though. Good hunting!

Remember, you can be a capable archer without Precise Shot, as long as you're not shooting at things that are in combat. If you always plan to join in combat at the first opportunity, go Outflank; if you plan on sometimes shooting while your teammates melee, go Precise Shot.
