The Exchange

A recent article by the Russian communist party that, apparently, still exists somehow, addressed the landing on the comet P67, which was first discovered during the sixties by a couple of Russian communist scientist, condemned the European Space Agency for daring to land a "capitalist craft on a communist comet, that was discovered by socialists".

The communist party claimed that "Klim Choriomov and Svetlana Grsimnko didn't sleep for whole nights, worked, studied the comet. All of the Soviet Union was following their progress with vigilance and concern, and all of a sudden the European Union sends it's spaceship there without asking out permission!... One could say, 'well, good for them, why would we care when we can make do with all the other comets in space?', to which we'll say,'No, comrade! Lenin said the socialism means to settle accounts on all things'. Russian needs to address the International Criminal Court to punish the European Space Agency for it's criminal invasion."
"we need", they cried with outrage, "using special signals, to make the comet to fly far far away and get swallowed in some black hole so that no one could have it, and that damn European robot be tossed the hell away. As for us, our scientist will discover new comets, on which only soviets and Russians would live!"
We Russians share our discoveries generously. We wouldn't mind it if the comet was taken by Cubans, North Koreans, or Chinese - what, would it hurt? are we lacking for comets? But the ones who made it there, with cunning and audacity, are those who now strangle Russian with their sanctions! And what if these perverts will eventually hold a pride parade there?"

Note: this article was translated from Russian by a friend, so the translation is not entirely accurate, but the spirit of it was conserved.

Sounds more like nationalists than communists to me. Admittedly, once they got into power, the bolshevijks didn't take long to start incorporating that into their ideology.

There are three Russian Communist parties (one of which, the KPRF, got the second biggest % of the vote in the 2011 Duma elections after United Russia, although that was around 20% compared with around 50-55% for UR), along with (no doubt) dozens of Trotskyite groups, the National Bolsheviks, etc. That last sentence has a gruesomely Puninite ring to it; given that the Master Goblin is a) very pro LGBT rights and b) not very pro North Korea/China/USSR , I think the answer is no, he wouldn't have written it :)

Challenge accepted. We will make Comet 67p fabulous.

Down with the NatBos and the Red-Browns!

Defend and extend the gains of '49! Oust the Princelings! Expropriate the Hong Kong bourgeoisie!

Workers of South Korea, rescue your brothers and sisters from Juche barbarism! Overthrow the chaebols! For revolutionary reunification!

For a giant post-revolutionary orgy where we can let it all hang out! Socialism will get everybody laid!

Vive le Bachuan!

Maybe the lovechild of Comrade and yellow dingo?

No child of mine (and Dingo) would be anti-pervert!

[Turns to right-wing Nat-Bol son]

I brought you into this world, sonny, and I can take you of it, too!

Communist's do not have property rights, so this is a moot point.

I got a better question: what makes it a communist comet?

Uhhh... they sincerely want to LIVE there??? Just... wow... Then again, maybe the idea has merit. Comets have very long years, so it would at least be decades until whoever lived there came back, right?

It has a dim view of capitalism and doesn't like it when an elite few control the means of production. It believes that the comet proletariat must rise up against the asteroid bourgeoisie, and thus assure equal treatment for all sub-planetoid space rocks.

Standard stuff really.

Heh, the entire USSR vigilantly peering over the shoulders of two comet researchers.

Also, perfunctory Googling would seem to indicate that neither of those scientists are actually Russian.
