Elmae Valmia |
As the title suggests, I, along with other members, recently got accepted into Spooky's WotR campaign. However, it seems as though he's disappeared in all of his threads, which is rather saddening. In any case, we all like the group that was put together, so we're looking for a DM who could pick up our group. We never progressed past the first room, and all that was really done was the various characters introducing themselves, followed by improving the NPCs' attitudes.
The characters are as follows:
Olivia Wormwood- Female Div-Spawn Tiefling Paladin (Divine Hunter) (Marshal Path)
Tchirash Suntouched- Female Aasimar Warpriest (Guardian Path)
Lily Taharial- Female Aasimar Oracle (Hierophant Path)
Salomae Amsel- Female Idyllkin Arcanist (Archmage Path)
Milhar Korashi- Female Elf Rogue (Trickster Path)
And myself, a female Aasimar Swashbuckler (Flying Blade) (Champion Path)
What we're looking for in a DM-
Roleplaying opportunities- A large part of what drew us to Spooky's campaign was the opportunity to roleplay things out. This includes the overarching campaign story and individual characters. Bonus points if a DM can somehow meld enemies from the story into a character's backstory and work with players to accomplish that!
Epic Fights- This sort of goes with what was said above, but it's more of a matter of not having a fight just be something like...
"The rat bites you. It hurts. Your turn."
That's no fun, right? =P Spooky promised cinematic fights, but it's not a necessity for them to be completely cinematic.
I think that's it, but here's the rules we made our characters by:
-20 point buy
-All classes except for Gunslinger, as well as all archetypes except Synthesist Summoner and the ones that give non-Gunslinger classes access to guns (such as Holy Gun)
--Divine spellcasters who get their powers from a specific deity
-All core races, as well as Aasimar and Tiefling. Less conventional races need a good reason for being in Kenabres.
--Divine spellcasters who get their powers from a specific deity (or anyone who takes the Touched by Divinity trait) must choose a Good-aligned deity. Iomedae, Desna, Torag, and Sarenrae are all strong choices, especially the latter given her affinity for redemption. That said, non-listed deities are just fine too. Those are just ones that fit better than others.
--Paladins may be of Neutral or Chaotic alignments so long as they are within one step of their deity.
--For Aasimar and Tiefling variant abilities, you may either roll for your ability, or pick one from the list. If you pick one yourself, you may not choose any of the +2 ability score entries. You may choose whatever and however many physical qualities as you'd like, given their lack of game impact. Fiendish Heritage is not a requirement for access variant Tieflings.
-All official Paizo material is on the table in terms of equipment, feats, spells, etc.
-Good-aligned characters only. You are the titular righteous and you should act like it.
-Max starting gold for your class
-Two traits
-No 3rd party material
-I tend to welcome houseruling and refluffing, so if there is something you'd like tweaked or reflavoured feel free to ask.
-Please provide a backstory, explaining your character's history, personality, and motivation, as well as a short rundown of your character's general gameplay roll, and any prestige classes you may be considering.

*peeks her head in*
Hey all, I'm one of the other PCs that Elmae mentioned and we're all hopeful that some brave soul will be willing to take on the task of GMing us through this awesome AP :)
If you've got any questions about something that wasn't addressed in the initial post, ask away and one of us will get back to you as soon as we can!

Well that does sound intriguing...
If it's alright with you, I'm going to take today (Thursday) to read your backstories, look into Roll20, and get the first few maps up.
Ideally, I'd like to start things up by tomorrow evening, but realistically it probably won't be until Friday sometime. Depends on how complex Roll20 is to get started with.
Does that sound like a deal?
Elmae Valmia |
I'd personally say Roll20 is fairly simple to get started with, but that sounds completely reasonable. Keep in mind that I need to slightly alter Elmae's backstory to fit with the Champion campaign trait, though. I'd submitted her as a Trickster, but I got accepted for the Champion slot instead. It'd mostly just be altering the arena/Worldwound bit with the cultist ritual. I'll poke the others and tell them to pop in here, though.
Tchirash Suntouched |
As far as I know, everyone is still here. Let me know if you need help with maps and such. I'm running a Skull and Shackles game, and use google drawing with great success. To use Google, you just capture your map, expand it as needed, then capture the images that you're going to use as tokens and drop them on top of the map. Give everyone access, and then they can move their token. Easy. Here's an example skull and shackles wormwood main deck

Okay, so I've just spent the majority of the morning's free time wading into Roll20 and I have to say, I'm impressed. The first map is up, but looking rather rough. I'm sure I'll learn as we move along.
I suppose I should head over to your discussion forum and post an introduction and meet the rest of the players. I'll be doing that somewhere close to 6.
The Dragon |
If you wind up needing someone of the champion path, I wrote a character for that for a WoTR game that seems like it won't be taking off.
Name: Arae
Race: Human
Class: Paladin
1. What is your favorite word and why?
"Justice. It's such an easy word, helps you decide what to do, or absolves you if you've been up to something questionable. It has power, that word. After all, what worth has the life of the criminal? What worth has a mother's love if your son is a necromancer?"
There's a fierce, vaguely threathening grin on her face, and a far away look in her eyes, as if intensely focused on something not in the room.
2. What is your least favorite word and why?
"Safety. The world is allowed to kill you. There's no intristic reason why you and me aren't going to die. In fact, it's pretty much guaranteed that we will. To think yourself safe is to fall prey to an illusion that'll curtail your potential. Indeed, the reason we fail to stand up against injustice, and fail to make an impact on the shape of the world is that we're holding on to the illusion of safety. To truly become something, we must first realise that we are not safe, and that we never will be."
Some thought or feeling flashes across her face. She pauses. "That is not to say that I'd ask anyone but myself to reject the illusion. It's... probably not the path to a happyness, staring into the pit. But then again, I wouldn't tell anyone who seeks as I seek to turn back either, no matter who they are."
3. What is your biggest regret?
"That's it for the easy ones, huh? I guess I sometimes wonder how life would've been if I'd grown up in a village in a quiet place, working the earth, falling in lo..." She pauses, shaken. "Huh. I guess there is something... Years ago, I danced on a scene at the mid-summer festival. Savera was so incensed with me that I was showing off like that." She smiled at the memory. "There was a young man there, watching the show. I remember he had his sleeves rolled up." She blushes furiously. "And his eyes. He had kind eyes. I... I wish I'd spoken to him before I left."
4. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
"I wanted to be a cultist. Not just any cultist, mind; I wanted to be the priest. Most of us children did. He had it all, or so it seemed back then. Power, admiration, the respect of the community. In our world, he was nobility, the spiritual and political leader of everyone who mattered."
5. If you had one wish, what would it be?
"I'd want to make life better for everyone. How to go about it in a single swoop is a quandery I'm not sure that I'm equipped to answer. Abolish war? War is instrumental in change, and change is neccesary for improvement. Strip evil from the hearts of mortalkind, perhaps?"
In the end it doesn't matter. No deity has the power to fulfill the sort of wish a question like that merits. Or perhaps they merely choose not to do so, out of respect for our freedom. The world would be the same for the difference."
That may seem kind of random; it is. The GM asked us to do it, and it describes the core of the character. If I did it right you could read this and not have to bother with the spoilers below.
On a good day, she's toiling towards making the world a better place. On bad days, she feels that the world is going to end in chaos anyway, so maybe she should just try to enjoy the ride? The bad days are part of the reason she tries to impose discipline on herself, and holds to her code.
Aurius wasn't around much during the next few years. He hired a nanny, an aging Varisian bard called Savera, who ended up a surrogate mother figure for Arae. It was Savera's policy of always telling the truth that eventually brought Arae around to worship of the good deities. Aurius quitly approved of Arae's study of religion and philosophy, but was loathe to say so directly; She has yet to forgive him, managing to treat him only with cold politeness. She is aware that what he did was for the best, but is unable to change how she feels. She considers this her greatest personal failure.
Haven't written any crunch for her yet, but looking over your group, I'd say maybe go for a two-hander.

Hey, don't know if you guys remember but I submitted a character for this as well. An Aasimar Warpriest named Godwin Solace. He was on the Hierophant path but he could easily go for the Champion Path instead. Would love to join in so let me know if you want me to and I'll make the minor modifications to Fluff and Crunch.
Built him by hand as the character creator I use doesn't support warpriests yet. Hope I got everything right.

BACKGROUND:
For many in this troubled and demon cursed land dreams are the stuff of nightmares and horrors. They speak of gibbering horrors and demonic screams. Their sleeping hours, they say, are haunted.
My dreams are not haunted. They are instead graced. Graced by a Lion. The Lion of Iomedae. Ever in my dreams. I am blessed.
I grew up in one of the many orphanages of Kenebras. One of the countless orphans created by the ceaseless war against the damned fiends of the abyss that press against the wardstones constantly. It was obvious from the start though that my origin was... other.. than purely human. There is some celestial blood in my veins. Even still the life of a starving needy child is harsh no matter what their bloodline might be and I do not know what would have become of me if it wasn't for the divine peace I could always count on in my resting hours. It wasn't until I was eleven years old that I made the connection between the lion that comforted me in my dreams and the church of The Lady of Valor.
Every moment that I could I spent in the church close to the crowded and run down shelter where I slept. I scrubbed the pews, cleaned the altar, ran messages, volunteered for any and every task just so I could spend as much time on Iomedae's holy ground as I could. When I first exhibited signs of my divine connection to The Inheritor I was accepted into the hierarchy and put to work at the lowest levels. Nourished by my faith and the better rations I grew up both strong and devout, catching the attention of both the ecclesiatcial and the military leadership of the church.
I... could not choose between them. Sometimes I dreamed of the Lion wielding a sword, making me thing I should join the Paladin orders. Other times I dreamt of the Lion with a sunburst Halo around him, leading me towards the clergy. In the end I chose both and started my journey towards becoming a warpriest in her service. It was the right choice.
Ten years to the day that I first stepped foot in the church I stand ready to do battle with the accursed demon hoardes as a fully adorned warpriest. May Iomedae bless my sword and my armor as I step into battle in her name.
