Do our characters age?

I was just looking at the CRB and once a human character hits 35, age penalties start applying. Is it an assumption that the characters age in real time, and that the age penalties start to apply as well?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Characters age in game-time. If your character spends a year trekking across Golarion on foot looking for goblins, your character will grow a year older. Real world time does not matter; you can age a long time in one session or barely at all in several sessions.

How much characters age really depends on the campaign. Depending on the setting campaigns could span years or only weeks.

PFS does not use age category rules. Other than that, it's up to your GM to advise you as to the passage of time.

Aside from having a handsome avatar, characters age in game during in game time.

Characters also have starting ages based on class.

1. Characters do age.

2. However if you check the campaign guide, you will see that one of the things specifically NOT USED in the campaign are aging modifiers.

characters DO age, but i advise against the use of aging related modifiers because they penalize martial characters quite heavily and provide a massive boost to the DCs of Casters, can you say +1.5 to the DC of every spell you cast and Extra Spells per day on top of that? the equivalent to 1.5 spell focuses in every school or 12 feats and also the equivalent to a mountain of extra spells per day or extra power points.

And of course, after checking in on my question, I realized that this is in the general Pathfinder forum, not PFS. Apologies, people.

One of our players hit middle aged in kingmaker. She was a battle oracle. Although her charisma score was odd at the time, all three of the physical ability scores were even... She was not happy about it... Until she became queen.
