Extra Domain for Cleric?

Advice

Silver Crusade

Is there any way to do this in Pathfinder (not using 3rd party stuff)?

I know you can multi class to Druid, or to Sacred Servant paladin. Neither of these really achieves what I am after, although the paladin bears further consideration.

I would like to make a Heroism subdomain Evangelist Cleric, adding the Repose domain. Shizuru, Empress of Heaven, offers these domains. Of course the Evangelist archetype loses 1 domain, so I'm looking to add one.

So far only the sacred servant archetype paladin appears to work but it needs 4 levels in the class, a bit too much of a dip for me. I think I could make an interesting character based on this combination, given that Shizuru is LG, but ideally I'd like something I can use in PFS. The problem with the sacred servant / evangelist multi class is that it takes 8 levels of Cleric to get the Aura of Heroism domain power, and 4 levels of paladin to pick up the Repose Gentle Rest domain power. That's too late for PFS.

Is there any way to do this? (I found a thread from 2012 discussing the subject but there's been a lot of new material released since then).

Well, there's always the Exalted prestige class as an option, it grants a domain at 5th level, and progresses your spellcasting w/o any loss of caster levels.

The main issue with that, however, is that I'm not sure if you could actually take that with any deities that doesn't grant any obediences. Maybe ask your GM to refluff any obediences to fit with Shizuru?

The Believer's Boon feat may do what you want

Believer's Boon does look like it might work. Slightly fuzzy wording though. "Once per day, you can use all 1st-level domain abilities granted to clerics of that domain." Does that mean that I'd gain Gentle Rest with just one use per day, or with the normal 3+WIS mod uses per day?

When it says "once per day" that's what it means. It's a feat intended to give non-cleric believers a taste of divine magic.

That makes sense LazarX. A feat is too steep a price for one stagger-strike per day I think.

I don't know much about the Deific Obedience options. I'll have to look into that. It might present more options.

If Gentle Rest is your only reason for taking the Repose domain, you could go with a 1 level dip in Warpriest for the Repose minor blessing.

Alternatively, there's the War Blessing feat, which gives you access to the blessing twice per day (just slightly better than the Believer's Boon feat).

Sounds like you just want to power-up a cleric with a 3rd domain. Considering how powerful is the Evangelist archetype, perhaps just make do with the standard one domain ...

What's your vision for the character?

Silver Crusade

Heroism Evangelist is certainly a strong character. I started out just looking for an appealing deity to use for that concept. Then I noticed Shizuru, who is one of my favourites on account of what's cooler than "Empress of Heaven"?

I've got another concept build for a hungry ghost monk/cleric of Shizuru with Domain Strike and Crusader Flurry. I thought of maybe combining the two concepts if I could somehow add Gentle Rest to the Heroism Evangelist (and use a Conductive katana).

I think Warpriest is subject to a similar limitation to Inquisitor when it comes to multi classing with cleric Gilbin.
