One of my players: Nah. :-) I'd be a little wary of a kineticist/monk hybrid though. someone would be trying to replicate Avatar the Last Airbender and the Legend of Korra with that combo. :-)
A kineticist and monk combo can be used to replicate the world of Avatar: the Last Airbender and the Legend of Korra. Avatar (the show, not the movie) fans, this is your book!

You know there's going to be a monk or brawler archetype that uses kinesis and that this will happen. As soon as people read it within the first few posts was "Wha? A bender class?" They even have the firebending trick where you use flames to propel yourself in the air, and the easy answer to fire's inability to do weapon damage is to give a Combustion Man blast. A while ago I made a 'Japanese' homebrew setting and the first thing that happened (partially my fault. I made four elemental spirit beasts a thing) was a Monk of the Four Winds Monk that used fire, a water Sorcerer, an Earth mystery Oracle and one guy that insisted on messing up the pattern by being a ninja that did nothing to do with wind.

There's always that one guy. Play a Lovecraftian horror campaign and you get a human fighter ridding the world of the horrors that killed his family, a dhampir Inquisitor solving a mystery surrounding his birth, An Elven wizard seeking to uncover dangerous secret knowledge lost from his people and then suddenly a Tengu monk that likes to get drunk and goof around and has unknown goals.

Dont get me started on that. I used to love playing WoD until I met more people that played it. Not that all WoD players are like that but trying to pick up a game when I was stuck in a rural area for college brought me to a type of groups that poisoned the game for me forever and never being able to play with any sincerity is part of the problem.
