Question about Telekineticist defense power

This is about the Force Ward power... how often can this be used? Can you theoretically use this ability at the start of every battle, getting your level worth of temp. hit points? I know to increase it costs you burn, which lowers your pool of hit points, but it does seem very strong to gain temp. hit points equal to your level essentially at will (to a max of your level, of course).

It doesn't refill just by reactivating it (as mentioned in the first post of the kineticist thread), but yeah, if you wait long enough, you do gain those temporary hit points each fight.

As currently worded, Force Ward grants complete immunity to attacks that do not deal hp damage.

Shadows, for example, will never be able to take down a Force Ward. Their attacks will always count as missing. A similar problem occurs with spells like Ray of Enfeeblement.

As written and intended, attacks that don't deal hp damage don't "fail to deal more damage" any more so than you fail a Climb check when you choose not to climb.

I can accept that, but I am trying to anticipate the arguments, quoting the exact wording of the ability, that will occur in the rules forums post launch.

If we clarify deliberately broad interpretations here, maybe we can nip a few arguments in the bud latter on.

For example: a magus holding a Shocking Grasp hits a Force Ward with his sword. The sword does not deal enough damage to break the ward. Does the spell discharge?

If no, apply the same reasoning when a wizard attempts to deliver the spell via a touch attack (which deals no damage of its own).
