WotW:

1. Purple prose makes me cringe, and boy is this AP full of it. Let me illustrate the problem:

Paizo/WotC writing style:

"The PCs can now return to Skullhaven for rest and some downtime before the next event plays out"

WotW writing style:

"And lo and behold, the mighty heroes return to Skullport. The ground shakes under their feet. Ill wind blows past as they walk. Darkness gathers where they cast their gaze. One could swear that the sky itself weeps ..."

I much prefer to fill the theatrics with stuff of my own design than having to prune the text from somebody's attempts to be the next Dante Aligheri, thankyouverymuch.

2. The whole "bad guys" aspect of WotW is so hilariously cartoony that at times it reaches satire level. It's like He-Man, and you're Skeletor.

3.

Spoiler:
The assumed outcome of the AP is that the PCs get their heads kicked in by a massive counter-attack of (hilariously cartoony as well, mind you) good guys and the whole AP is supposed to be an "evil is bad" lesson. I don't even.

All in all, we've had fun for the first couple of sessions, but once the PCs were once again called upon by Cardinal Doomdark to perform eeeevil deeds for the Dark Lord, we just collectively gave up. Rigt now my players have far more fun in their Skulls'n'Shackles game, where they can act out a bunch of Chatoic Neutral Dinobots/Jack Sparrows.

well said gorbacz, same here, i really tried to like it, i haven't gotten it, just the free preview but when my brothers asked if i wanted to play i said sure, it wasn't fun for me, i like my evil weird and unspeakable, and the bad guy,

:
i didn't know about the end, yeah that would've pissed me off:-)>

if i'm gonna be the bad guy it better include piracy! (i love skull & shackles, my personal favorite!)

Right now I'm GMing Runelords AE with 5 palayers:

Half-Orc Invulnerable Rager Barbarian
Halfling Thundercaller Bard
Elf cleric of Sarenre (Was a gnome that got reincarnated)
Elf Sorcerer
Gnome Sorcerer

We are almost done with book 5, so should be done early next year.

After that one of my players is running a 6 man Second darkness that I am in. After that it will either be a different player running Iron Gods, or me running Skulls & Shackles.

Right now I'm running two games -

Rise of the Runelords AE, 2 players (each running two characters):

Chuko - CN tengu rogue
Sprinkles - NG aasimar cleric* of Shelyn
Hasuko - CG suli brawler
Zurna - CN lashunta abjurer/fighter/eldritch knight

Reign of Winter (with Mythic), 5 players:

Devana - N (good tendencies) kitsune witch/archmage
Svetlana - LG changeling** oracle/heirophant of the Dark Tapestry
Dahrehn - CG human inquisitor/champion/heirophant (black powder inquisition, preacher archetype) of Cayden Cailean
Saeralia - CG half-elf ranger/champion/guardian (spirit ranger archetype)
Malyk - CN aasimar (angelblooded) bard/marshal/champion (arcane duelist archetype)

My Runelords game I've been running "as-is" and expect to finish soon. I'll be running Curse of the Crimson Throne for those two players afterwards.

My RoW game had been heavily adjusted, as well, I made it mythic, with the entertaining craziness that brings.

* More specifically, Sprinkles has a homebrew archetype that gives her cleric spell progression, preparation and casting as though she was an arcanist. It's working pretty well, I guess as to be expected.

** Svetlana recently changed her race from changeling to a homebrew fey - being told in Artrosia that she was the larval form of a hag bothered her enough that she researched a transformation ritual.

Running Rise of the Runelords AE, 4 players, just starting Book 3.
Aldamir, 7th level Elven Conjurer
Sendrick, 7th level Cleric of Saranrae
Dolgen, 7th level Dwarven Fighter
Ash'kal, 7th level half-elven bard

We've started about 10 months ago so at that rate should finish within a couple years. Who knows what we'll do next, by then there will be even more choices to pick from (and that's just AP's.)

Hrumph.

Now I'm wondering if I'm glad that there was a TPK in the middle of Book 1 of Way of the Wicked. (Though we didn't really have our hopes up too high for the campaign: New DM AND most of the group wasn't thrilled with playing evil).

Oddly, I only vaguely remember my PC: an homage to Varys the Spider from Game of Thrones -- with a real depraved streak of sadism. He was a heretic and master of disguise.

Note: For the record, MY PC didn't die in the TPK; he successfully ran away and everyone else died. But since he was far far away from civilization with no food, water, gear or much in the way of HP (and only 2nd level), he probably would die of exposure or to a random encounter.

I'm away to start running the Kingmaker AP I played through the first module as a Human Paladin which was epic fun.

I'm not making things easy for myself. Our first couple of play sessions ive ran wee improv filler mini adventures to get the players familiar with the rules. They are 3rd level already and have both fought hard and role played well to deserve every Xp point. 3 of my players have been metagaming since basic d&d. We rolled 4d6 and drop the lowest rolled 7 times and drop the lowest for their stats. House rules are very generous gear wise too. So far we have ;
gnome druid,
halfling rogue (mastermind)
half elf bard/fighter (soon to be shadow dancer)
elf ranger focused on ranged who'd favoured enemy is humans
a drow 2 weapon fighter (think drizzt with a bastard sword)
and an elf rougue focused more on combat

Its ok i've done my homework on APLs and CR ect and read an excellent guide on encounter design
I've thoroughly enjoyed reading the first Kingmaker adventure some of the NPCs and encounters are pure gold even the pregen characters are very playable.

I'll be modifying the storyline a wee bit since theres no humans in the party they will be working for the elves.

Just started a new PC in my first-ever PBP, Medieval Europe Pathfinder

My PC is Iommi-Tyr Magnusson, Viking noble, cousin to the King of Norway.

I'm DM'ing Rise of the Runelords AE, and we're early in Sins of the Saviors. d20Pro game.

We should finish up the whole thing by May or so. I'm looking forward to Curse of the Crimson Throne, but my players might one of the others, and that'll be fine.

I'm playing in the first book of Second Darkness: d20pro

I'm playing in book two of Carrion Crown: in person.

I'm playing in book one of Shattered Star: pbp here.

Savage Tide currently myself, group is in Part 10 of 12 now and level 18.

My 7 person initial group grew to 8 and then dwindled to the 5 current crew, but is still going strong. That AP has been about 3 years in the running of it, and the next one after that according to group desire Polling will most likely be Kingmaker.

I trade off with another GM, after he was getting a little burned out and was wanting to play a bit after a long streak of GMing

He is GMing RotRL Anniversary Edition for myself and five other players
We are currently in Ch. 4.

I then GM S&S for him and the same five other players
We just finished Ch. 2

GMing Kingmaker, Book 4 Blood for Blood; party consists of:

Human cleric of Sarenrae 3/sorcerer 4/mystic theurge 2
Half-elf fighter 1/rogue 8
Elf Alchemist 9
Dhampir Ranger 9
Aasimar Paladin of Sarenrae 9
Tiefling Magus 9

Playing in Iron Gods (just started); party consists of:

Human (Kellid) barbarian
Human (Kellid) cleric of Erastil
Changeling ranger
Aasimar oracle
Android investigator (empiricist)

On extended hiatus due to new baby, but just finished Book 3 of WotR when we stopped.

Human Cleric Of Sarenrae Lvl 11/hierophant 4(I think)
Elf Transmuter 11/arch mage 4
Half-Orc Inquisitor of Iomedae 11/Guardian 4
Human Paladin of Irori 11/Marshall 4

Had a Barbarian 11/Champion 4, but he moved to Texas. Have a new player so will be exciting to see the new addition to the team.

Can't wait to take the group to

Spoiler:
The Abyss to see Nocticula

The afore mentioned barbarian player was running SS for us before he moved away. Had to stop in the middle of Book 3. Can't say how far we were b/c the GM liked to add TONS of new material and rework almost every encounter, so I couldn't say what we were doing was in the book or even recognizable by someone who has read the AP.
I was playing Human Summoner 8
also had:
Gnome Fire Oracle 8
Human Rogue 8
Half-Elf Ranger 8
Human Cleric of Abadar 8

I'm GM for three groups, and I'm currently running Skull & Shackles (book 5), Reign of Winter (book 4) and just started Shattered Star this week.

Previously I've completed running Rise of the Runelords (TPK on the final battle, though), Curse of the Crimson Throne, Legacy of Fire, and Kingmaker, as well as Shackled City

Started but not finished: Serpent's Skull (abandoned in book 3, because of the unplayable mess this adventure is, and general ennui in the group), Age of Worms (twice with different groups, one abandoned around "Encounter at Blackwall Keep" as players were eager to start Rise of the Runelords, and the second time after "The Spire of Long Shadows", players got somewhat disengaged and wanted something new), and "Savage Tide" (which we ended after "Into the Maw" because players became overwhelmed with the complexitiy of 18th level full D&D library characters and also were eager to start Kingmaker). Also "Way of the Wicked", which I actually liked, including the cartoonish nature of its villains, although I can certainly understand Gorbacz's aversion to the purple prose, oh yes. We abandoned that after two of the players moved away.

As a player I've completed plaiying Council of Thieves (as Dorian Davarius, a human monk), and currently I play Florentin Zandor, a human bard in Jade Regent (book 4).
