Pugwampi Braid vs. Peerless Maneuver?

Rules Questions

I was reading the Monster Codex and happened across the ability for the Pugwampi Braid. It forces creatures within 5 feet of it to roll twice and take the worse result whenever the situation calls for a d20 roll. However, a rogue with the Peerless Maneuver rogue talent, while making an Acrobatics check to tumble through the Pugwampi Braid wielder's threatened area, can opt to roll twice and take the better result. How exactly do these two effects effect each other?

Scarab Sages

Roll once.

The rogue rolls two pairs of 20 sided dice.

Takes the lower result of each pair and then the higher of those two.

Scarab Sages

I'm basing roll once off the similar Wall Scramble talent.

Wall Scramble (Ex): A rogue with this talent rolls twice when making Climb checks and takes the better of the two rolls. If she already rolls twice while making a Climb check because of another ability or effect, she gains a +2 insight bonus on both of those rolls instead. If the rogue is under the effect of a spell or ability that forces her to roll two dice and take the worse result, she only needs to roll 1d20 while making Climb checks.

I'd say a roll twice and take better versus a roll twice and take worse results in a roll once, because logically they just kind of cancel one another out. So you end up rolling normally.

I don't think there is a strict rule at work here, just some common sense.
